Episode 14 – Dormitory Assignment

After meeting the Grand Duchess of Galois, Nina and I headed to the dormitory.

The road to her dorm was a road paved with hard, wide rocks.

There was no discomfort at all while walking, and there was no dust blowing.

So far, the roads I have walked around several territories have been dusty dirt roads.

It was not intentionally created for traffic, but was a natural path created by people coming and going for a long time.

Since the road was built by people, it was often the case that if no one was walking, grass would grow over time and block the road, causing landslides and disappearing.

Comparing then and now, this road is so well-maintained that you can lay down on a blanket on the floor to sleep.

The street where people walk is also kept clean like this, but it was obvious without even looking at the inside of the dormitory.

“Come to think of it, Nina. I can’t see my luggage. Is there something wrong?”

“I put my luggage in the attendant’s room next to the master’s room in advance.”

“Then I’m glad.”

Nina wondered if she had lost it because she wasn’t carrying it, but she seemed to have it.

So I and Nina followed the signs and walked towards the dormitory.

“Oh, how amazing is that?”

“Really… Incredible.”

Me and Nina admired the dormitory.

To be honest, it was not an exaggeration to say that this was not a dormitory, but rather a palace of a kingdom.

It was beautiful, splendid, grand, majestic.

From noble mtl dot com.

It wasn’t a building where the cadets of the Royal Academy stayed for four years, but it could be used as a palace for a kingdom.

“I guess it wasn’t a lie to say that we are investing generously in talents who will be responsible for the future of the empire. Young master.”

“I will. Nina. It’s a very sturdy building that won’t collapse under any kind of attack. In a place like this, you can live with peace of mind.”

I hurried into the dormitory with Nina.

When we entered the first floor of the dormitory, many cadets were waiting in line to check their rooms and get their keys.

Since several people were waiting for their turn at the desk, I stood in the shortest line and waited for my turn.

How many minutes did you wait?

It was my turn, so I walked to the person in charge.

“Welcome. Can you tell me all your names, including your family name?”

“This is Alberto Salihar Maydern.”

The person in charge asked for my name, and I gave all of them.

“Please wait a moment. Alberto… Alberto… Oh, I found it here.”

The person in charge took out a small jewel-encrusted key from the key holder and held it out as if he had found my name while rummaging through the documents while calling my name.

“This key is an item treated with special magic, so if you lose it, you will have to pay a fairly high price for a new one, so never, never, never lose it. Got it?”

“I understand. You mean never lose it?”

“Yes. Also, there are rules in the dormitory, and if you break the rules, penalty points are imposed, and once the penalty points are accumulated, you will no longer be able to use the dormitory during the semester, so please be careful.”

If you break the rules, penalty points accumulate, and if the cumulative penalty points increase, you will not be able to use the dormitory.

“Especially, it would be very inconvenient for people from far away to be kicked out of the dormitory. As you know, the capital is very expensive, and even if you rent it, it is said that it is difficult to afford unless you have a lot of money.”

“How much does it usually cost?”

“I once heard from a cadet who was expelled from the dormitory and then rejoined. He said that he paid 30 gold coins a year in rent.”

Thirty gold coins a year was a very burdensome amount for me as well.

It was very strongly etched into my head that I must never be kicked out of the dormitory.

I should never have been kicked out of the dormitory, even for the sake of Nina, who followed me.

“Oh, and when you enter the room, please put on the magic bracelet first. From now on, all announcements will be made through the magic bracelet, so don’t forget.”

After receiving the key from the manager, I and Nina walked up to the room where I would be staying for the next year.

When I lifted the key I received from the person in charge, I found that the numbers marked in relief were covered with gold leaf.

“Room 603.”

“Room 603, it’s a fairly high floor.”

The 6th floor was similar to the highest floor of my family’s lord castle.

I looked inside the dormitory as I climbed the central staircase to the 6th floor.

The central stairway was covered with a red carpet, which was pushed down and secured to the floor so that people would not slip.

The handrail made at the edge of the stairs was decorated with marble and wood on metal pillars, so it looked very sturdy.

On the way up to the 6th floor, it was also very strange that there were various art pieces on display so that you wouldn’t be bored.

As if I wasn’t the only one who felt this way, all the cadets around my age were busy looking around the inside of the dormitory.

“I haven’t seen my room yet, but what about Nina’s room? Was it better than staying at the lord castle?”

“To be honest, it was much nicer than the room I lived in at Yeongju Castle.”

Nina conveyed her honest feelings to me.

Nina was the closest person to me, the eldest son of the Maydern family.

So, of course, I was staying in the best room among the rooms available to employees.

Considering how ordinary employees live in collective quarters, Nina was in a pretty good place.

Even Nina could decorate her room with her own things, and she knew that since she served me closely, she would be given a fair amount of money to maintain her dignity.

Seeing that Nina said that her room was better than her own, she could have thought that the Royal Academy was giving her cadets a decent treatment as well.

“I’m curious. Nina’s room.”

“My, are you curious about my room?”

“Come to think of it, I’ve never seen Nina’s room before.”

Even when I was living in the family castle, I had never entered Nina’s room.

Nina went in and out of my room freely.

When I asked her mother, she said that even if Nina is my subordinate, I have to protect what needs to be protected.

However, this is the Royal Academy, not the lord’s castle.

If something happens to Nina, who has followed me all this way, it will be my responsibility.

So, it was up to me to check her Nina’s room and take necessary measures if there were any problems so that Nina would not feel uncomfortable staying in her room.

Actually, this was an excuse, I was just curious about the room where Nina lives.

Anyway, since he was someone who spent a lot of time with me, there were many times when I felt like a family member, not someone else.

So, if there was something lacking in Nina’s room, it was only natural that I would fill in the missing parts.

Because Nina and I were not just like employees, but like her family.

“As Nina’s employer, I have a duty to see how the employees are doing here.”

“Boss… ….”

“For Nina, who believed in me and followed me all the way, I need to check what is lacking.”

“Then, I will guide you to my room. I haven’t unpacked yet, so I’m showing you specially.”

Nina said she would show her her own room at my request.

I went up to the 6th floor and was able to stand in front of room 603 where I was staying.

Unexpectedly, the door was an ordinary door made of wood.

However, if you look closely, the unique pattern of the wood matches the decoration of the hallway very well, probably because the door is also made of luxurious wood.

By the way, nowhere near the entrance of Room 603 was the entrance to the room where the attendant would be staying.

“Where is the entrance to Nina’s room?”

“If you open the door to Room 603, you will come out, young boy.”

As I searched for the entrance to her room, Nina kindly gave me her location.

I opened the door to room 603 at Nina’s words.

As I inserted the key into the doorknob and turned it, the door began to open with a ‘click’ sound.

When I opened the door, unlike the outside, I was greeted by a desk with very neat furniture, bedding, and various kinds of textbooks and small bracelets.

“This is my room. Nina’s room…….”

“This is my room. Young master.”

Nina opened her own room and showed her inside.

The entrance to Nina’s room was the door next to it after walking a couple of steps into the entrance of Room 603.

“Boss, never, never, never say that a man will enter a woman’s room first or that he will watch. Do you understand?”

Nina interrupted her visit and she told me something like a caveat.

It was not to say that the man would enter the woman’s room first.

Hmm, she thought that Nina was a woman too, and even if she wasn’t alone, no one would like to show her room to others.

On second thought, I wondered if I was doing a great disrespect to Nina.

“Well, you don’t have to show it if you don’t want to, Nina. Maybe I just asked too much…….”

From noble mtl dot com.

“Haa, since you’re a young boy, I’m showing you. In any case, you are my employer.”

Then Nina moved away from her body, which was covering her door, so I could see inside.

After bowing her head and thanking her, Nina looked inside her room where she would be staying.

On top of her bed are a couple of bags that appear to be Nina’s gym bags, and her desk and chair. Bookshelf. And it was a simple room with a closet and a single drawer.

There was a small door on one side of the room, probably a bathroom.

The Royal Academy is so amazing that even the room of the attendant has a bathroom.

“Is the furniture okay?”

“Yes. Young master. The furniture is much better than when I was in the lord’s castle, and the bed is soft, so it’s okay.”

“Yes. I’m going out, so unpack your things, change your clothes, and come out. Let’s go eat lunch.”

I asked Nina to go out to lunch with her, then closed the door and left.

“Oh, and I’m sorry. Nina. It’s because Nina is like her family, I’m curious about how she’s doing, and I hope she doesn’t get offended.”

“…… Puch. It’s okay, b*tch. Don’t mind it.”

Fortunately, Nina accepted my apology before I left the room.

I closed the door to Nina’s room and went to my room.

There was no significant difference in the number of households.

A bed, two wardrobes, two drawers, two bookcases, a desk and a chair.

The only difference is that there is one wardrobe, one drawer, and two bookshelves for storing books.

Other than that, the toilet and bathroom were combined into one.

“I told you to wear the magic bracelet.”

I put on the magic bracelet according to the person in charge.

Then the surrounding mana began to be sucked into the bracelet.

The red jewel attached to the bracelet started to glow as if it had absorbed enough mana.

[Welcome to becoming a cadet of the Royal Academy.]

And then, a small glass window appeared above the bracelet.

[All future announcements will be made through this artifact. You must wear it when you sleep and when you wash.]

[So don’t worry, I hope you wear it.]

[You can browse the materials and schedule for tomorrow’s class.]

Several windows appeared before my eyes.

Anyway, I thought I’d spend the day getting acquainted with this device.

After all, I had lunch with Nina and had to spend the whole day learning how to handle this artifact.
