11 – Crisis begins (2)

A month has passed since then.

During that time, I personally recalled how the Rhineland Front ran in the novel and set up a strategy in various cases.

Also, like the last time, he was looking for an opportunity to make a very big achievement, and he performed a lot at the company level.

He had the opportunity to participate in five battles, and each time he participated, great and small achievements were accumulated.

Solo annihilation of 1 enemy company, destroying 2 platoons, and preventing crisis by supporting another company of ours that is being pushed back by the enemy.

Thanks to my considerable performance, the officers except me were promoted one rank after the war ended, regardless of victory or defeat.

The company commander has also received a statement from the division’s operational staff that if he continues to play an active role on the Rhineland front, he will be able to overcome the barrier of being an executive officer and be promoted to major.

If you are promoted to major and discharged, you will be given a knighthood, which is limited to the time, and you will be treated as a noble for the rest of your life and receive a service pension.

So, without realizing it, the company commander trusted me enough to believe that I could make miso soup with red beans.

Thanks to that, I have the lowest rank, but in terms of clothes, I have risen to the level next to the company commander.

If the company I was assigned to as a platoon leader from commoner orphans had been a unit made up of nobles only.

No matter how much the ball was built, it would have been difficult to establish a solid position to this extent because the family background held back the ankle.

It was the best luck for me to be assigned to a unit with only officers who had been cadet officers.

So I hope you will continue to go with this feeling in the future.

As if my trivial wishes were shattered in an instant, the company commander appeared in front of the officers with a rotten expression on his face, holding a small barrel and glass of beer in both hands.

Damn, I haven’t been on duty for the first time in a while, and the atmosphere was good today.

“Loyalty, company commander, what are you doing?”

The company commander, who had always greeted me with a smile on his face when I and other officers greeted him like this, but he still replied with a wrinkled expression, as if to prove my prediction was correct.

“I was informed by the battalion commander that the Black Lion Mercenary Corps has come to support the Francois Republic.”

At those terrible words, the faces of all the officers except me turned earthy.

Because the Black Lion Mercenary Corps was one of the best mercenary corps that made its name throughout the continent of Europe beyond the Reich Empire and the Francois Republic.

It was because the number of people was a huge enemy force that exceeded 2,000 people.

And, although they don’t know it, it was because the Francois Republic attracted the Black Lion Mercenary Corps that the Reich Empire army, which had the upper hand in the Rhineland front in the original novel, was defeated.

When the platoon commanders, including me, tried to complain about this situation at once, the company commander kept our mouths shut and continued talking.

“Thus, having achieved a lot of achievements so far, I was appointed as the 1st Company Commander and Unit Commander of the 4th Battalion of the 3rd Regiment, and you all changed affiliations like me.”

I don’t know how it is in Korea, but here in the same company, the 1st Platoon Commander is a little bit more picky than the other platoon commanders.

So, from the outside, it could be accepted as the company commander’s retinue.

Considering our progress so far and the current war situation, it is very likely that the newly deployed battalion was placed in a battalion with a little less combat capability even if the number of soldiers meets the battalion size.

Because the battalion is a mess, it seems that they are planning to reorganize one battalion centered on our company with excellent ability and use it as a force.

The platoon commanders seemed to have the same thought, and complained in a voice full of anger.

“Isn’t this too much? From what I heard from a guy I cherished like a younger brother, the 4th Battalion of the 3rd Regiment is a mess because many seasoned officers died in battle a few days ago.”

“Why, the more the division commander produces, the more sh*t he throws at our company?”

“Deus-sama, why are you giving us such f*cking sh*t?”

I really wanted to complain along with them, but the situation doesn’t change even if I complain.

Instead, I have to devise a way to maintain the combat power of the battalion without the entire company, including me, suffering major damage.

It helped that I had built countless mock operations, and I was able to come up with a pretty good strategy in an instant.

Therefore, I asked the company commander on behalf of the other officers, relying on my elevated position based on my achievements so far.

“What do you plan to do then, company commander?”

It may seem arrogant, but it was a necessary question, so the company commander sighed and answered.

“Major Blancia told us to stand in the vanguard and play a central role in the battalion’s attack. I agree with what the battalion commander said. Do other platoon commanders have opinions?”

When the company commander’s question fell, the other platoon commanders only looked worried, but did not give any answer.

“Lieutenant Jaeger, there is something I would like to suggest to the company commander.”

“Tell me.”

“I am against taking on the role of the 4th battalion’s vanguard company.”

When I said that, the company commander and other officers looked at me and said, ‘Have you heard me wrong?’ I looked at him with a look.

That’s also likely to be the case, no matter how much I rose to the rank of deputy company commander, there was a difference of more than two ranks and about 10 years between the company commander and me.

Even if it is not a protest, raising an objection to such a person’s words would mean that he was crazy or that he was quite determined.

The basis for making them understand is enough in my head.

“Think about it. Certainly, if we stand in the vanguard of the early battles, we should be able to deal with a similar number of enemies without difficulty. However, if you stand in the vanguard, no matter what the battle situation is, you will instantly face more troops than we do, and you will need to receive support from other companies in the rear.”

In fact, the reason why it was possible to annihilate the Valier Battalion last time was because there were other units that supported our company charging with fierce momentum.

So, all units, with the exception of units fighting in the vanguard, are always organized with reserve units or troops that can support them.

“By the way, according to the company commander, isn’t it that we can’t trust the troops coming to support when we are driving the enemy with excitement from the vanguard? If so, the battle will definitely go in our favor at the beginning of the battle. Our company is likely to suffer significant damage due to lack of support at critical moments.”

Moreover, our company is a unit that is attracting attention not only from allies but also from the enemy thanks to the name of the company that decapitated the enemy’s battalion commander, even if the regiment and battalion to which it belongs is changed.

If such a unit fights in the vanguard, other officers of the Francois Republic will recognize us and will certainly try to defeat us and make a brilliant achievement.

The battle will intensify, the consumption of troops and the consumption of soldiers’ stamina will happen quickly.

“Furthermore, isn’t it difficult to expect the company commander or platoon commander to fight while doing their part? So, even if the initial attrition of other units in the vanguard is a bit severe, we have to stay in reserve and go out in the direction of supporting the units being pushed back by the enemy.”

If an ace company like us said they would participate as a reserve rather than a vanguard, they might be criticized for lacking courage and courage.

It’s a better option than losing a company to being in the vanguard and being victimized by incompetent soldiers from another battalion who can’t provide enough support in the moment of need.

Unlike modern times, the reserve forces of this era are relatively safe in the rear, but they play an important role in determining the outcome of the war as much as the vanguard, so we can take charge and change the flow of the battlefield.

Things like supporting a defeated unit, or playing a role in stabbing the enemy’s loopholes.

The company commander put on a slightly wrinkled expression, as if he was a little annoyed that his opinion was refuted head-on.

He said with a sigh, as if he had noticed that not only our company but the entire battalion could suffer if we didn’t follow my advice.

“I will report to the battalion commander that our unit will serve as a reserve behind the other three companies.”

**

and the next day.

As agreed, our company took on the role of a reserve in the newly deployed battalion and took part.

Until now, I had been fighting in the vanguard or in the second rank right behind the vanguard, so the war started and I heard shouts and screams in my ears, but today is different.

Amidst the muffled murmur that came from a little distance away, I could only understand the words of a person with a good voice, with the correct pronunciation.

“Dirty Francois bastards! If you die here, I’ll put a snail in your ear!”

“I’ll make you a woman, so just hit me in the crotch! I’ll make you a eunuch!”

“f*cking bastards, it hurts so bad!”

So many allies and enemies died in front of us, but we, the reserve, just watched from the outside of the whirlpool.

Since one of the reserve’s duties is to conserve strength until the critical moment comes, it’s natural and no one will say anything.

By the time I felt a little sorry.

The company commander pointed forward loudly and said.

“This is the command of the battalion commander! Our 4th Company is now going out to support the 1st Company fighting from the front!”

A full-scale battle between our troops has begun.
