Serah: IF ANYONE IS SLEEPING NEXT TO LIGHTNING IT'S ME

After Ozpin's introduction speech Glynda escorted all the Beacon student candidates inside a massive hall and was supplied with sleeping bags. While most students were trying to have an early night in preparation for tomorrows exam. Serah and Yang were competing for the position to sleep next to Lightning. Ruby using her semblance had quickly claimed the space to the left so only the right side remained.

Lightning: What you writing there Ruby?

Ruby: A letter to all my friends back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.

Lightning: Sounds nice. Maybe I should try and make more friends here.

Ruby looked up from her notebook with a conflicted look etched over her face. For around 5 years Ruby had been Lightning's only friend except for Yang. She didn't want her friend to be lonely but possessive thoughts were also present.

Ruby: do you remember the first time we meet?

Lightning: How could I forget. It was my first day at Signal and you wiped the floor with me.

Ruby: I never expected back then the stubborn girl who refused to admit she lost would become one of my best friends.

Lightning: I've been called stubborn two times in two days. Starting to get used to it.

After a couple of minutes of joking around Ruby got curious and asked.

Ruby: Why didn't you try to make more friends at Signal

Lightning: It's kinda childish but I didn't value others. My only priority was bettering myself. By the time I realised how dumb I was, I already had a bad reputation and it was too late

While Lightning and Ruby were taking a trip down memory lane. Yang was setting up her sleeping bag next to Lightning. It was obvious from the start an archer like Serah couldn't fight a brawler like Yang head-on.

Yang: Enough of the depressing talk. How about I help my asocial friend and sister make friends. It's easy.

Yang drags the two teens by their arms. Ruby tries to put up a fight but Lightning for what seemed like 100th time today resigned herself to her 'fate'.

The girl they were approaching was a black-haired beauty wearing a ribbon who was reading a book with a candle as her light source.

Yang: (singing) Hel-looooo!

Blake: Do I know you three?

Ruby: Uh, No! My name's Ruby Rose it's nice to meet you

Yang: Just call me Yang, I'm Ruby's big sister.

Lightning: Light

The black-haired girl gave the 3 girls in front of her a once over. She couldn't help but spend a couple more seconds on Lightning to appreciate her beauty.

Blake: Blake

Lightning: 'Blake? As in my quest?'

Lightning looks at Ruby while thinking

Lightning: 'It seems just being around her is dragging me to people who are important to this world. It's like she's the main character of a TV Show'

Blake instantly after answering turns back to her book

Yang: I like your bow

Blake: ...Thanks

Yang: It goes great with your… Pyjamas!

Blake: Right

Lightning: What you reading?

Blake: Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body.

Ruby: I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!

Blake: (laughing a little) And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?

Ruby: Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!

Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child. (her smile turns into a frown)

Lightning: Shame the real world isn't that nice. As someone who grew up surrounded by bullying because of my appearance. Human nature is scary they hate anything different.

Blake looks at Lightning with an almost understanding look in her eyes.

Ruby: Well, that's why we're here! To make it better.

Lightning: That's so like you

Yang: Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister! (hugs Ruby into the air)

Ruby: Cut it out!

The two sisters start playfully fighting. Their laughs could be heard even from across the hall.

Blake: (Giggles) Well it was a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to have met you all

Lightning: (smiles) feelings mutua-

Weiss: (storming onto the scene in her own pyjamas as Ruby traps Yang's leg) What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realise some of us are trying to sleep?

The chaos only started to die down once Blake blew out her candle leaving everyone in darkness.

While Lightning was laying in her sleeping bag and somehow, she transformed into Ruby and Yang's hug pillow. She couldn't fall asleep because one thing was on her mind. Not that she needed sleep she just liked the sensation of waking up refreshed.

Lightning: 'System, What is fate?'

{Fate is the will of the world. Fate doesn't take sides in good and evil it'll give both equal chances to 'win' but Fate is a fickle existence it can change its mind on who's important seemingly in a heartbeat. Also, if someone "Favoured" died they would simply be replaced}

Lightning: 'So Favoured by fate is basically a title that signifies the person can have serious importance to the world?'

{Yeap}

Lightning: 'Can fate control people?'

{Yes and no. Fate can create situations where important things MAY occur, but it can't outright control you}

Lightning: 'So. Ruby meeting other important people is fate's work?'

{Yes}

Lightning: 'My final question… Can fate influence me?'

{Not at all. Right now you are just caught up in Ruby and Yang's fate}

Lightning: Why can't it control me?

{I thought your last one was your final question}

Lightning: 'Even though you won't tell me the last part. Thank you for what you can tell me'
