Add A Little Lightning

Ozpin: For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.

Glynda: Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumours about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today.

Ozpin: These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well.

Lightning: How are teams formed?

Ozpin: The first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years.

Lightning: Seriously?

Lightning: 'With such a random way to form teams that probably means they are testing our adaptability and teamwork with our individual power being only secondary. And with this being an examination just powering through it on my own might actually fail me... How troublesome'

While Lightning was trying to rationalise the exam, she looked at Ozpin who simply smiled at her.

Lightning: 'How could I forget who the test is being run by… There is no way someone like Ozpin is leaving these teams to chance. (Looks down) We were assigned these plates he has definitely rigged it somehow.'

Ozpin: After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die.

The plates start to launch students into the forest while a blonde-haired student named Jaune was nervously asking questions.

Lightning: '[Observe]'

Lightning: 'No wonder he's nervous the landing will kill him! He's weaker than I was! How did he even get into this school without unlocking his aura?!'

Ozpin: No. You will be using your own "landing strategy."

Lightning: 'Yeap... He's dead.'

Jaune's pad was ejected second to last which left Lightning watching him flail around in the air. Shortly after Lightning was ejected seeing that no-one else was going to help him. She used [Telekinesis] sending him to the ground safely. While she used her flight magic and gracefully landed.

Lightning who was too focused on making sure Jaune didn't die ended up landing inside a nest of Ursa. The jet black fur on the bear-shaped creatures cut an imposing figure.

Lightning: 'About 30 of them, with an average level of 16. I should finish these quickly and find my 'random' partner'

Lightning spreads out her psychic energy to a 100 meters radius in all directions creating a domain which can track any movements inside it.

Now that she doesn't have to worry about being caught off guard Lightning freely uses [Telekinesis]. And starts her attack by lifting 30 Ursas off the ground (by their necks) at the same time and swiftly crushes their windpipes in one motion. Seeing that all Grimms Level's atop of their heads have disappeared. Lightning Releases her hold over them.

After releasing them, they all dropped to the ground causing 30 thuds to echo throughout the forest. The noise attracted the attention of a certain black-haired book worm.

Blake: Light?

Lightning: Blake?

While Blake is making her way towards Lightning she sees the literal mountain of corpses spread across the landscape

Blake: Did you do all this? I only just landed...

Lightning: Meh... More importantly, I guess we'll be partners for 4 years. I'll be in your care.

Lightning holds out her hand for a handshake which Blake accepts

Blake: (Blushes) I'll be in your care too

Lightning: 'Is she embarrassed about being called partners? How cute.'

Lightning and Blake started making their way north where the temple was meant to be located. While also dispatching any Grimm that they happened to come across.

After 15 minutes of walking they came across a broken-down ruin with chess pieces resting on top of podiums.

Lightning: Is this the temple Ozpin mentioned?

Blake gives Lightning an incredulous look and moves closer to inspect this so-called temple.

Blake: Chess pieces?

Lightning: 17 podiums with only 1 pawn piece… Do you remember how many students were participating?

Blake: 50ish I think.

Lightning: All teams in Beacon's history were teams of 4. Just what is Ozpin thinking allowing 34 people into his school?

'Is this because of mine and Ruby's late addition?'

Blake: It seems some pieces have already been taken. The Kings and Queens are missing. What piece should we grab?

Lightning: Leave the pawn piece It gives me a bad feeling. We'll take the knight piece.

Blake goes towards a white knight piece. she was about to grab it but a girly scream broke her concentration.

Blake: A girl?

Lightning: Not far off.

Blake is confused by Lightning's answer but still quickly grabs the Knight piece and returns to her side while Lightning who is still spreading her physic energy quickly looks up when two people entered her domain.

Blake noticed moments later thanks to her keen hearing. There are two people free-falling showing no signs of slowing down while a slight scream could be heard getting louder and closer.

Ruby/Serah: LIIIGGGHHHHT!

Lightning: 'How do you even end up in that situation?'

The two free-falling teens descent slows down and comes to a complete halt about 30 meters from the ground thanks to Lightning's [Telekinesis]. Lightning and Blake can only look at the pair which are now floating with dumbfounded expressions.

Ruby: Look I'm flyin-

All of a sudden Ruby starts free-falling again before stopping just inches away from the floor. And

then drops the remaining distance landing on her bottom. She looks up with teary eyes at Lightning.

Ruby: Why did you do that?!

Lightning: I... Lost control?

Ruby: Why are you asking me?!

Blake: Did they just fa-

Serah lands shortly after and predictably rushed towards her sister but before she got to Lightning the rustling of bushes alerted the group who sharply turned to face where the noise came from.

The surreal scene of a teen with bright orange hair wielding a hammer riding on the back of a Grimm with a complete look of bliss over her face appeared while screaming

Nora: YEEEE-HAAAAW!

Shortly after, a blonde hair teen wearing sunglasses landed next to her, she had been gliding from tree to tree using the propulsion of her shotgun gauntlets matching pace with orange-haired girl.

After Yang landed, she removed her glasses and looked around.

Yang: Hope you don't mind me dropping by

Serah, Ruby and Lightning can't help but sigh.

Lightning: You would have thought we'd get used to her bad jokes and puns at some point

Ruby: So is th-

Before Ruby could ask about the temple the screech of a nevermore can be heard above them chasing after two male students one being Jaune and the other being easily recognised by Nora.

Nora: REN!

Ruby: THAT'S THE NEVERMORE WE JUMPED OFF!

Blake: You jumped of-

The sound of trees being trampled over cut off Blake's question. Weiss appeared from the treeline using her glyphs gliding across the floor while Pyrrha is nimbly dodging the claws of the Death Stalker while it's hot on her tail.

Blake: What are we going to do. We have the chess pieces here.

Nora: OF COURSE, WE HAVE TO HELP REN

Lightning: 'If I'm right about this test being used to see how well we work as a team. this is a perfect chance for extra marks.'

"Alright, I'll take Blake and Serah to assist Weiss and Pyrrha in taking down that oversized scorpion. Ruby, you take Yang and Nora to assist Jaune and Ren."
