Add A Little Lightning

Chapter 24 - 24 - Thank You For The Food

Lightning finished with her less than productive chat with Ozpin, the topic of which was her mission. Ozpin forever living up to the status quo acted like he already knew everything, which annoyed Lightning even more.

Lightning's animosity intensified, when she attempted to read his mind and for some unknown reason was able to hear two trains of thoughts working in tandem with one and other, she had even used [Observe] but, that also bore no fruit. As the person, she got information about wasn't Ozpin.

The only reason she hadn't attempted to read his thoughts and use [Observe] earlier was that she had still felt indebted to him for allowing her early entry into Beacon and as a result bring her one step closer to achieving her dream.

The thought of repaying his 'kindness' by invading his mind and looking through his darkest secrets didn't sit well with Lightning. But with how Ozpin was treating her more like a toy soldier than a student, her gratitude could only last for so long.

Once Lightning finished her report, she headed towards her dorms and just like she had predicted her 'homecoming' rather than being a heartfelt scene, turned into a dogpile with her being buried at the bottom.

Lightning wasn't given the chance to sleep as all her team members with the addition of Ruby and Yang wanted to know just what she had got up to in the last month.

Lighting conveniently skipped the part about Raven and just referred to them as "A strong group of bandits". Seeing no point in opening old wounds for Yang.

Over the five years which Lightning had known Yang for. She had come to have a complete understanding of how insecure the thrill-seeking blonde could be about her mom.

After Lighting finished her side of the story, the group decided to tell her what she had missed.

Cardin had attempted to get revenge on Lightning's team through Jaune because of the incident in the cafeteria.

Thankfully Jaune stood up for himself in the last minute and refused Cardin's orders.

As he refused a Grimm attacked Cardin's group which Jaune fought and after a hard-fought battle with zero outside interference Jaune came out on top.

*Inside Beacon's cafeteria*

A pink-haired teen was looking at her food with an enamoured look in her eyes. Over the last month, Lightning had only been able to eat military rations but, now she had a wide variety of choices to pick from. Every single dish looking far more appetising than anything Winter had given her.

After 10 minutes of picking what to eat, ignoring the curious looks she was getting from the entire student body. She returned to her table with what amounted to an entire buffet worth of food in hand.

Serah attempted to take a slice of pizza from one of the plates but, her hand was quickly slapped away by Lightning.

Lightning resembling a dragon looking over its treasures glared at her sister who now had a dumbfounded expression.

Yang burst out laughing taking enjoyment from Serah's bewilderment. In return, Serah threw a pea at her.

Things escalated quickly from that point.

Lightning who was still in a world of own was broken out of her trance by student's screaming while madly running to the nearest exit.

Lightning looked to her left and saw all the tables but the one she was sitting at were now piled up creating a make-shift fort. She then looked to the right and saw her team preparing to assault said fort. returning her gaze downwards at her food, she noticed that she had subconsciously used [Telekinesis] on the table and every single one of her dishes to make sure they weren't taken from her.

Lightning just continued to eat while the two teams fought.

{You not going to join in?}

Lightning: 'Nah, the teams are already fair, even if it is a five on four.'

{How so?}

Lightning: 'Simple, we have Pyrrha and they have Jaune.'

Lightning looks up from her plate to see Jaune being rag-dolled by Pyrrha using her semblance, Polarity.

{I see}

{What about Yang and Nora? Besides Pyrrha, your team has no other Vanguard}

Lightning: 'Serah can deal with Yang and Nora doesn't have much in speed department'

Serah who had made a miniature bow out a Leek and Spaghetti while using carrots as arrows. Began to rain down carrots on Yang, Serah who had been teammates with Yang for 5 years knew nearly all her fighting habits, so she was able to comfortably pin Yang to the wall. Leaving a ridiculous scene of Yang being outlined with carrots, unable to move.

After that Blake charged Ren while using breadsticks as swords, Ren attempted to defend himself with leeks in hand but was unsuccessful as Blake outpowered and outmanoeuvred him at every turn.

Weiss and Pyrrah while Blake had Ren concerned, coordinated well together, attacking all of Nora's blindspots. The problem with Nora's attack pattern was that it heavily relied on others to create openings as her own agility was mediocre. Without being able to make use of her strength advantage she became a little more than a practice dummy.

The 'food fight' became a four on one within minutes. Team Light even after Lightning had gone on her mission had been training together improving their teamwork in hope that they could take Lightning down once she returned.

Not because they didn't Like Lightning, they just didn't want their captain to see them as useless.

Ruby who saw the scene of all her teammates get systematically taken out knew she couldn't outfight all four of them on technical ability, so she crouched down in preparation to use her semblance, Petal Burst.

{And who can compete with Ruby's speed?}

Lightning ignoring Lumina, put her hands together in a praying position.

Lightning: Thank you for the food.

Meanwhile, Ruby turned into red rose petals and moved at inhuman speeds creating a whirlwind from her momentum. The whirlwind caught all the stray food and cutlery inside of it and launched them out in Team Light's direction.

Just as Ruby was about to pass Weiss and catch her in the whirlwind too, she ran into a foot which was left dangling at a 45-degree angle from the floor.

Not expecting anyone could keep pace with her, Ruby was unable to dodge in time and tripped over the foot, with her momentum stalled she exited her petal burst and was sent sliding on the floor into the back wall.

The back wall started to show fissures spreading across the entire wall originating from where Ruby had impacted with it.

Lightning who was standing where Ruby had been with her foot still outstretched whimsically remarked.

Lightning: Ouch
