Chapter 28 - Return to the Infirmary

"Hello infirmary, we meet again." Arthur called out to the room, getting a giggle out of Ruby and rolled eyes from Weiss and Blake. While Yang kept her eyes on the hall, fully expecting Cardin and his lackeys to come to cause trouble.

"Don't worry about them too much Yang, they aren't stupid enough to cause more trouble, especially after Goodwitch's warning" Arthur said as his two assistant helped him onto the same bed he had just left not a day earlier.

Taking one final look around the hall Yang saw that Professor Peridot was rolling her way down the hall, looking quite annoyed if Yang could tell.

"Karda's nearly here, and Oh, does she look annoyed" Yang grinned at Arthur, who coughed and looked away.

"Arthur! It hasn't been a day and you are already back here!" Kardia berated as she rolled into the infirmary and next to Arthur, completely ignoring the four others. Her glare piercing deep into his soul forcing him to answer her.

"We-well,um. I had a duel with Cardin, and ended up getting flung against a wall after getting hit with his mace" Arthur explained.

"I thought I told you, you are exempt from combat training for the next week, Glynda should also know that, I sent her a message." Kardia picked up her scroll and began scrolling through the messages she had sent, freezing once she had found her message that hadn't been sent. She quickly put her scroll away while trying to look as normal as possible.

"You, didn't say anything yesterday, and Ms. Goodwitch didn't say anything as well, only told me not to use my arm." Kardia froze upon hearing he was told not to use his arm.

"Arm? What about it?" She asked her eyes going over Arthurs covered right arm.

"Wait, I thought you already knew. Did Ozpin and Glynda not tell you about it?" He asked getting a shaken head confirming she hadn't been informed. "Huh, I would have expected them to tell all the teachers at least."

"I will talk to them about that. For now can you explain why she told you not to use your arm?"

Deciding the visual would make it easier to explain Arthur transformed his arm to its claw state. Before Arthur could even say anything he heard a squeal of what he could tell was a mixture of excitement and wheels rapidly accelerating as Kardia appeared next to him and was roving her hands all over his arm analysing every inch trying to figure out how it worked.

Just like yesterday Kardia began her strange ramblings as she took a quick peek at her 'torture' cupboard and back to Arthur who, seeing her familiar insane grin decided to save himself and returned his arm to its normal shape, much to Kardia's disappointment.

Everyone on team RWBY shared a nervous look as they saw Kardia's expression turn from the gentle and stern teacher they were used to, to insane mad scientist hell bent on figuring out how something worked. They also noticed Arthur's expression which quickly transformed into fear when she looked at the cabinet and relief when he saw her calm down once his arm was returned to normal.

"What just happened." Yang whispered to her teammates.

"I have no idea. And I'm not sure I want to know" Blake added getting quick nods from Weiss and Ruby.

"Anyways, Kardia. I was coughing up blood, so that's why I'm here. Think you could get on with it?" He asked.

"Arthur! Be more respectful to Professor Peridot! She is a prestigious teacher and doctor! Have a little respect." Weiss berated, obviously not happy with Arthur's tone with Kardia.

"Weiss, call me Kardia. I don't like all that stuffy nonsense. And after yesterday… he sort of deserve's to be allowed to talk to me like that." Kardia explained, causing most of the team to squint trying to figure out what she meant by 'after yesterday'

Noticing their expressions Arthur coughed bringing attention back to himself as he answered "She almost cut my arm off in the name of science"

"She what!?" was the resounding phrase that rang throughout the infirmary causing both Arthur and Kardia to cover their ears.

"It's fine, she stopped before she could do something irreversible." Arthur waved his hand calming them down "I'm sure she won't try it again. Right Kardia?" he gulped slightly hoping she would agree.

"Y-yes that is right. I may have gotten a little excited yesterday and let go of myself." She explained lowering her head and apologizing, while remembering her interaction with Arthur.

"It's alright Kardia, Ruby's the same. Except she's more likely to dismantle someone's weapon than their body. It's quite a cute trait." Arthur explained causing both Ruby and Kardia to flush as they lowered their heads.

"Now I'm sure Arthur here could flirt with everyone in this room and get away with it, can we get on with it. I can still see blood trickling down his chin." Yang reminded everyone as to the reason they had come to the infirmary in the first place.

"Right!" Kardia shouted "This will only take a minute." She said in a soothing voice as she placed her hands on Arthur's c.h.e.s.t while also closing her eyes. Her body began to glow from her Aura manifesting as it began to cover Arthurs own body in a thin film of light.

Arthur was initially worried when Kardia had done this a few days earlier; it had reminded him of when he had done the same with Ashe. But his worries were unfounded as unlike his ability, Kardia's did not heal and instead analysed the person's body, giving Kardia an understanding of the person's body. And combined with her knowledge on medicine, it created one of the best healers in all of Remnant.

The process in total took about a minute to cover the entirety of Arthur's body and another five minutes to completely analyse his body before the light began to return to Kardia who now had a thin layer of perspiration forming on her forehead.

Keeping her eyes shut Kardia began to take deep breaths in an effort to regain the energy she had expended, and to analyse the information she had gained during her inspection.

"So, am I going to die within the next twenty four hours?" Arthur joked, getting angry stares from Weiss and Ruby while Blake rolled her eyes and Yang chuckled.

Opening her eyes she answered "Well, if you come back here injured again, I may just expedite that process." She teased with a serious glare causing Arthur to gulp "But no, you will be fine. You're left lung was bruised, give it a few hours and it will be gone, apart from that? Just a few bruises and a slight concussion which caused your difficulty standing."

"So, just don't do anything excessive and you'll be healed by the end of the day. And please, stop getting hurt, I don't like seeing you like this." A frown appeared on her face. While a twitch appeared on Ruby's cheek.

A mischievous smile appeared on Yang "Wow, not even teachers are holy to you." She muttered aloud.

"What does that mean?" he asked, confused at what Yang was insinuating.

"Nothing!" Both Ruby and Kardia shouted, causing them both to exchange stares, unblinkingly for nearly a minute.

"Are, they okay?" Blake whispered to her team and Arthur.

"I have no idea…" Arthur replied.

"Lady things Arthur, lady things." Yang answered.

"What does that even mean?" he retorted while watching the silent exchange between Ruby and Kardia, sweat forming on his back as he saw them both gain ominous grins.

"Okay, that's just ominous" he watched their grins getting bigger and bigger, now causing the others to worry.

"Arthur!" Came the voice of Summer as she charged into the infirmary, thankfully distracting Ruby and Kardia from their conversation.

"Oh, hi girls, how's your day going?" Summer asked, getting distracted by the others in the room. Before any could respond "No, wait. Arthur!" she stomped her way towards him, crossing her arms when she got near the bed.

"Not even a month and your injured AGAIN! Do you not care for your own life!?" She shouted in both anger and concern.

"Well, I-I do. But it was a duel, I wasn't going to die. Goodwitch would have stopped it long before things got lethal." Arthur explained, hoping that it would pacify her.

"Well, she would have stopped it for you probably. She didn't even bat an eye when you 'accidentally' dropped Cardin's weapon on top of him after kicking him in the balls." Yang, used air quotes as she added onto Arthurs statement.

"You what now?" Summer asked, looking at Arthur with a reproachful stare.

"I-I, Uh…" Arthur stuttered out under Summers judging stare.

"Oh, you should have seen it, it was amazing. Arthur blinded Cardin by spitting blood into his eyes, got a good punch in sending him stumbling leaving him open for an attack that will be felt by his grandkids. It. Was. Perfect." Yang continued, giving Arthur a thumbs up which he nervously returned.

"I should have. Maybe I would have stopped it before things got this far." Summer added. "But, even then you don't go THAT low, especially not during a duel" she lectured.

"He deserved it, he's a bully. He targets the faunus and pulls on their ears or tails." Blake inputed not hiding her distaste for the bully.

"Arthur also didn't have a weapon and was told not to use his arm." Weiss added on.

"I can understand the arm part. But didn't Ozpin give you a weapon before initiation?" she asked.

"Well, uh. Ruby, show her." Arthur said looking to Ruby who brought out a small sack from which metal could be heard clinking against itself. Pouring out the contents of the sack numerous shards of the blade and the handle fell out. Summer's eyes opened in realization "ohhhh"

"Yeah, I don't have the same strength or training as Yang, or just anyone in this room. So my punch's didn't do much to his Aura. I just ended up dodging a lot, before getting batted into the wall when I ran out of energy. And the rest is history." Arthur finished the explanation.

"Right, you haven't had any training in combat…" Summer went silent as she began contemplating something, before turning back to Arthur with a small smile.

"Well, at least you're okay. He isokay? Isn't he?" She asked Kardia who just nodded her head with a reassuring smile.

"It's just a bruised lung, give It an hour or two and I'll be out of here." He said sounding Jolly, flinching as he felt the physical power of numerous glares.

"Yes, so you can get injured. Again." Weiss bluntly said.

"Hey! This is a risk of the job!" Arthur retorted.

"You're a student. You don't have a job." She returned

"Details" he indignantly added, getting giggles from Ruby and Kardia while Weiss sighed and Blake rolled her eyes.

"Anyways, how have you been Summer? Haven't seen you in a few days. You better now?" he gently asked her, causing her mood to drop.

"I've… been fine… It's just… you brought back a lot of memories… things I want to forget" Summer looked down at her hands, feeling the reassuring feeling of Yang and Ruby gently stroking it.

"I'm sorry" Arthur lowered his head, surprising Summer and the others "I let my memories take over, those are things I never thought I would talk about. I am sorry that I caused you to remember you past." He clenched his fists.

"Wha!? Arthur! No! It is not your fault! I knew you had a troubled past! Don't blame yourself, you didn't do anything" Summer placed a hand atop his "It's my fault, I should have stopped you before you began talking. If anyone's to blame. It's me." She said.

"Thank you… Summer." Arthur smiled as he lifted his head.

"This is sweet and all. But can we get some lunch? I'm starving." Yang broke the atmosphere bringing silence upon the room as everyone turned to her. The silence lasting all of half a minute before the grumbling noise of Ruby's stomach making itself known resounded throughout the room, causing Ruby to blush and began to giggle along with everyone else joining in just moments later.

"Oz!" Summer called as she barged into his office. Ozpin sat behind his desk which was covered in a few files and papers, one of which had a coffee stain atop it.

"Ah, Summer. I was expecting you. How can I help?" He asked

"Arthur. I'm teaching him how to fight." She quickly answered as a smile formed on his face as he responded.

"Okay"

Now, Arthur gets stronger. I'm not going to just give him the ability to just buy mastery over something from the Tome. My intentions for the Tome is for Arthur to have to earn the more powerful things, so techniques or ability's he would have to get through challenges or missions. Or other things (Suggestions?). So that means no just 'Woohoo I am suddenly a god amongst men' like lots of other novels do. Arthur is actually going to have to learn and experiment before he gets powerful.

Also, if I was to give Arthur a teacher from another series. Who? And what would they teach him?

Another thing. What do you guys think about another function in the Tome being 'Challenges'? so that's things like 'Kill 100 Beowolves in ten minutes' or 'break an anvil with your fist' that type of thing. Good idea? Or no?
