Ascension of the elder

Chapter 173: You know the name

"There's something very wrong with you."

Kyle looked confused before responding.

"I don't know what you mean."

Clyde shrugged in the direction of the mist shrouded illusions that were moving and writhing in and out of the mist which began clearing once the illusion became stable revealing the fever dream to the civilian militia arrayed opposite them.

"What the actual f*ck?" One of the men shouted out as he saw the figures emerging from the mist while stepping back alongside all the other men who were looking on with fearful and confused expressions.

Starting with the simplest these were monsters and demons they were familiar with, bears, tigers, wolves, eagles, falcons, honey badgers and any number of other predators but all these had been dialled up to eleven being larger with more teeth and claws than their usual counterparts.

In amongst these were copies or caricatures of Fen and Rih who seemed as though they were acting as captains or generals of the force. As with the other beasts they were larger and more fierce looking. Fen was enjoying himself as he stared and his other self wagging his tail and grinning in that way only dogs seem to be able to.

Moving on from the obvious beasts and monsters we started getting into what the locals would consider unusual territory there were phantoms, beings cloaked in shadows, zombies, werewolves and vampires in abundance.

The phantoms moved around and through the other beasts making it look weird and unsettling they seem to have a habit of smiling at one or another of the enemy like they were targeting specific people adding to the creep factor.

The beings cloaked in shadow were floating above the ground with the shadow making up their cloaks draping down connecting to the ground without seeming to be connected. As the men looked on fearfully one of them lifted his hand clasping it with its palm up and said to emo boy with a rattling voice like it was coming from a skull with no flesh.

"You've got no balls!"

This was a rather unusual comment but after the cock shot he received it may be accurate. The zombies were standard fare for those who know about zombies, walking corpses with flesh decaying and visible wounds on them but some moved similar or maybe even faster than ordinary people while some moved slower. This meant there was the standard horde zombie and sprinting zombies in the mix just to add to the overall chaos.

The werewolves weren't shape shifters or large dogs or teen simps, no these were full on 8 foot tall massively strong engines of destruction armed with teeth and claws that looked like they could rip and tear steel apart with no effort.

Finally from this group were the vampires, I use the term vampire due to the fangs but these weren't pretty little sparkly bitches. These were winged predators with catlike eyes and a pair of large fangs curling from their upper lip to just above their chin. Their wings or wing like appendages were connected to the underside of their arms and ran down the sides of their bodies all the way to their ankles not unlike real bats.

The next "grouping" although this term can only be loosely used to describe this assemblage of nightmares, was made up of lizard like creatures or those with similar features. To someone from our world they would say dinosaurs but there were some differences with their form which didn't quite match what we believe a good example of this were among the 2 t-rex looking creatures neither had the tiny arms instead they had large arms in line with the rest of their bodies allowing them to run quadrupedally as needed.

One of them had some bright feathers running down the ridge of its back making it look almost birdlike, while the other was covered in purple and green fur and was looking around with its soul less dead eyes not unlike a great white shark.

Then came the lovecraftian alien nightmares, to the front was a boiling mass of black carapace made to imply some kind of phallic imagery with sharp bladed tales and lots and lots of teeth and drool. Next to them was a single boiling mass of jelly with tentacles, eyes and other unnamed appendages appearing and disappearing at random in the boiling mass which sometimes split then rejoined for no obvious reason. Elena looked at this with a nostalgic smile on her face before commenting.

"Huh reminds me of my cousin." Which made those nearest to her look at her before taking 2 steps away, you know just in case.

Interspersed in amongst these beings there were other creatures which should be locked in a cupboard under the stairs never to be seen again. Women with snake like bodies and massive mouths in their mid sections, large half spider half human monstrosities amongst others. One that got the attention of people was what appeared to be men in suits from the back but when they turned their entire face was replaced with a maw of teeth looking like some kind of parasite.

Harrison had a special aversion to these and shivered before asking Kyle.

"Um Kyle what are those things supposed to be?"

Seeing where his uncle was pointing, Kyle shrugged and responded.

"Personal injury lawyers, the worst blood sucking bottom feeders that exist in any universe."

Harrison didn't know how to respond to that and could only nod his head while averting his eyes to another area which was less worrying. While less worrying it was more confusing there were large four legged creatures with tusks and fur but on their backs they carried large stages with people on them.

In the front was a man strutting around in a tank top and jeans with a moustache seemingly owning the stage and it was hard to look away, however if you were able to tear your eyes away you would see another man standing slightly to the side with a guitar. This man was wearing a purple velvet suit with permed hair and a cravat when compared to the man strutting around it made a strange comparison. Behind them where some other people on other instruments but they were all wearing masks and jump suits.

"Hey Kyle what's going on there?" Harrison asked once again as his brain was already struggling to understand any kind of logic to this ensemble.

"Yeah well I thought we needed a signal so those guys will be giving us the signal but that was also where I kind of lost concentration so we ended up with a super group."

Now everyone was really confused but just chose to roll with it as what else can you do? While talking about all these horrors we can't forget the clowns oh yes. These demons were front and centre all hanging out of little cars with far more leaning out of the windows than should be possible and on the roof of the front car was the midget clown with bad teeth Kyle had conjured before but rather than carrying a weapon he was swinging a giant sausage around above his head.

"Kyle when will the illusions move?" Asked Landon after he finished inspecting Kyle's handiwork and deciding to have a word with Maria when they get back home.

"Just wait when the doom music kicks in they'll move."

Everyone was confused by this but got ready to move at a moment's notice.

******

With the civilian militia they were looking at this sudden appearance of horrors unsure of what to do and how to proceed. These were only civilians and had no concept of what to do in this situation. The illusions began growling, hissing and barking in greater volume indicating they were getting ready to move.

Looking to the front the midget clown smiled and began waving his sausage with greater vigour before shouting out.

"Hey boys, who wants to play hide the sausage?"

This was the final straw for these poor innocent lads with one in front screaming.

"F*CK THIS!!"

Before breaking to the side which seemed to open the flood gates and the entire civilian militia split running to either flank to avoid the front and back shouting aloud to give themselves an extra boost.

"RUN AWAY!"

"LET'S GET THE BLOODY HELL OUTTA HERE!"

"EXIT STAGE RIGHT!"

When the militia began to crumble the band on the back of the mammoths began playing a heavy beat which struck a primal cord and suddenly the horde surged after the militia, the tide roared over but chasing after the horde was a single figure shouting at Fen's double.

"FENTON OH JESUS CHRIST!"
