Awakened: Evolving to Godhood

Chapter 14: Elliot Awakening!

"So, have you decided?" Instructor Nina asked after a moment.

"Sorry, but I will have to refuse," Elliot replied with a serious look on his face.

He didn't only want to accept the favor of the Magician Association and the Magician Academy, but he also didn't want to use pathetic evolution materials to awaken an ability.

As soon as she heard those words, Nina's eyes widened in surprise as she wasn't expecting him to refuse.

He was being provided free-evolution materials that would help become a lot stronger in a matter of days, yet he refused?

Unbelievable!

"Huh? Are you serious?!" She questioned, unable to make sense of his decision.

"Yes, I want to give up on this chance," Elliot said without a single moment of hesitation as he looked at her with an adamant expression on his face.

"Can you tell me why?" Nina asked as she looked at him with her pretty eyes, wondering why he wants to give up on such a good opportunity.

"What's the best evolution material the academy can provide me?" Elliot posed a question of his own instead of providing her with an answer

"Uh, you can get materials obtained from monsters at the peak of the magical realm at best," Nina said, answering his question.

The monsters of the magical realm were the weakest of the bunch, and the evolution material obtained from them could only help awaken a weak-ass ability.

"See, that's why I am refusing your offer. Using such evolution materials would only help me awaken a weak ability. Miss. Nina, I don't want that," Elliot said, explaining his reason to refuse her offer.

"Don't tell me you're planning to do that?"

"Yes! I'll work hard to slay powerful monsters and obtain special evolution material to awaken a powerful ability." Elliot said, hope and anticipation brimming in his heart.

Instructor Nina Olsen felt charmed by his words, thinking that he surely was her head-strong childhood friend who protected her from bullies in the past and made her obsessed with him.

"I wish you well," Nina said, indicating that she hopes he will be successful in defeating and obtaining evolution materials from a powerful monster.

"Thanks," Elliot replied, feeling that lady luck is now on his side.

"I will inform my immediate superior about your decision. So, please wait for a while before you go," Instructor Nina said as she motioned him to remain next to her.

"I understand," Elliot replied, unable to understand that she just wanted to be next to him.

While he stood before the crystal table, wondering how long it is going to take for her to gain the approval of her superior, instructor Nina turned on her communication device and immediately called her immediate superior.

A moment later, once Gerald picked up the call, she told him about Elliot's decision of refusing the evolution material of the magical realm provided by the academy as he didn't want to awaken a weak ability.

"Oh, really?" Gerald, the head of the magician academy and the man on the phone, couldn't believe that a young unawakened magician has refused their help for such a distinct but foolish reason.

Elliot's words were grand, but it was hard to kill a monster above the magical realm.

The monsters above the magical realm were called demonic monsters.

These monsters were in the demonic realm evolutionary stage.

Without money and strength, there's no way for that boy to acquire demonic realm evolution material.

"Yes, sir," Nina replied.

"Instructor Nina, let him do as he wishes," Gerald said, a carefree smile creeping on his middle-aged face.

"I understand." Nine replied, immediately ending the call.

"Can I go back to my seat?" Elliot asked after she put down her communication device.

"You can if you want to." Instructor Nina said with a playful smile on her face.

Elliot turned around and walked back to sit down on his seat, immediately resting with eyes closed.

Instructor Nina, on the other hand, assessed the Magic Energy Capacity and Ability Affinity of the few examinees who still haven't been tested.

"What happened?" A man very old with a white beard hanging low on his chin asked, looking at the Head of the Academy, Gerald, with a questioning gaze.

He and Gerald were in the resting hall of the Academy Principal, a place found at the top of the Emerald Mountain, located just below the clouds and far above the ground.

The Academy Head, Gerald, wearing a set of tight-fitting white silk robes, looked at the aged face of the man sitting opposite to him with a warm smile.

"There's an unawakened magician who refused us from helping him awaken, Lord Hebrew."

"Huh? Who is that fool?" Hebrew, wearing a set of loose grey robes with a black insignia stitched on them, said, somewhat losing his calm.

"A boy in his teenage called Elliot," Gerald said, thinking that the only son of one of the best magicians of the Channel Opening realm is really a mystery.

"The name does ring a bell." Hebrew scratched his chin, a deep look represented in his eyes.

"It does, doesn't it," Gerald said playfully, knowing full well who Elliot was.

"Don't tell me it's Lilia's and Kayn's only son, Elliot Vincent?" Hebrew said with a shocked look in his eyes after a moment.

"You are right on the mark, old man," Gerald said, confirming Hebrew's suspicions.

As Hebrew confirmed that Elliot was really the son of the two out of the many magicians that went missing in the Trial Ground of the Ancient and Mysterious Civilization, he couldn't help but feel even more shocked.

"It's good to know he is doing well," Hebrew said, not many feelings are involved in his words.

"It's not just him. We have taken good care of every magician whose parents or guardians went missing or died in the trial ground of the Ancient Civilization of Xavier a few years ago." Gerald said, proud of his Academy and the Magician community.

<Completed: 50/50>

Meanwhile, in the examination room, two notifications rang in Elliot's mind, signifying that he has somehow managed to disturb the peace of two more figures.

He didn't know who they were, but he was sure that these two people were Instructor Nina's superiors.

<You've completed the Trial "Champion's Name Ring a Bell" within an hour>

<You've obtained 50 essences of life>

<Level 2: 50/100>

He now only needed 50 more essences of life to advance to the third stage of the magical realm evolutionary stage.

<You've obtained the ability "God's Breath Manipulation">

The moment this notification rang in Elliot's mind, the pretty eyes of Instructor Nina and the eyes of all the other examinees in the examination room widened like saucers with their jaws dropped to the ground as they looked at the holy and brilliant light shooting out of his body.

"Tell me this is my worst nightmare." Cain felt so shocked looking at his high Magic school victim, releasing bursts of brilliant lights from his body that his mouth remained agape

"No, this is really happening. Elliot has entered the self-awakening evolutionary process out of nowhere to awaken an ability!" Rodriguez said, shocked out of his wits.
