Baby Contract: Forced Deal With A Dragon

Long Cheng brows furrowed deeply after hearing Lu Meili's statement. His mate's tone of voice was laced with confidence that made him concerned. 

'Is it even possible for a ghost to live again if it saves you?'  He asked himself silently as he looked at Lu Meili with confusion.  'She is not thinking of using forbidden magic, right?'   Since his mate was a mage, Long Cheng hopes that she would not get herself involve with forbidden arts. Hence he did not know how to save her. 

His expression was clear with bewilderment, but Lu Meili only smiled to herself as if she was in a good mood while she continued to walk and look in front of them. 

Unable to resist, Long Cheng asked, "Meili, what do you mean by-" 

"Your Highness! Ms. Lu! Welcome to level six!" The guard suddenly announced, which did not allow for Long Cheng to continue.

Long Cheng felt like it was deliberately done. So he growled to the guard threateningly with annoyance. Nevertheless, both Lu Meili and Long Cheng had stopped in their tracks.

The prison guard who interrupted him only stepped away from him with both hands raised across his c.h.e.s.t while looking at them apologetically. 

As someone innocent, the prison guard felt like he wanted to cry without tears.  'I am only doing my job, okay! Who told you to take this as a good time to talk freely to your mate?' 

The other prison guards snickered silently while some remained passive like they do not care. 

At that moment, they were in front of a massive metal door with "VI" carved on it, indicating that they were in the sixth level of the Royal Underground Prison.

"Visitors halt. Prepare for scanning." A robotic voice spoke that seems to be from the other side of the metal door. 

 "Your Highness, please wait for a short while. We will all be scanned. Then we can have Miss Lu settled in properly." Another guard said. 

Long Chen nodded like it was nothing, but in truth, he was surprised to know that his uncle did not only increase the magical restriction in prison but also the overall mechanical system. 

Most likely, the incident a couple of years ago had much concerned his uncle even to bother getting such high technology that was undoubtedly from another planet. The other parts of the prison had also improved a lot. 

However, it seems though that only level 6 and above were the areas that had been upgraded to the fullest. The upgrade was to the point that even the guards were needed to be scanned as well. 

If Long Cheng had remembered correctly, level 6 and above also has its wardens and rules as if a separate prison. 

While Long Cheng was gloating to himself because of the changes that he was seeing, Lu Meili, on the other, was much concerned by it. 

"The Dragon County looks prepared." Lu Meili commented through clenched teeth as she unhappily gazed at the familiar flat type blue bulbs of lights on each side of the metal door. 

"Of course, Miss Lu. We do not want anyone to escape easily." One of the guards replied proudly. 

Lu Meili snorted. If she wanted to escape, it would be a challenge, but it was not entirely impossible. She could not blame Long Kael though, for increasing his security after the story, she had learned the story of the escaped dark mage.

However, she would never think that the seemingly ancient prison had installed a higher level security feature that might even detect NanoGen systems that were made to conceal the technology within it, just like her NanoGen, Lulu.

'Can it really?'  Lu Meili thought to herself curiously as she stared at the scanners that we're currently releasing a 'beeping' sound, indicating that it was loading. 

Her focus was returned to the familiar light bulbs. These bulbs were explicitly made for scanning. The engineers from Orcus were also able to come up with the version that magic could also be detected. 

Sadly, even though the bulbs were improved often, the external appearance would still be the same. This fact was the main reason why Lu Meili was unhappy. 

What if Lulu was found and took it away? Lulu was still a prototype and still requires a lot of improvement as well, so it was a must to keep it. 

Beep!

Just like what she expected, it did not take long to see the familiar blue light was coming from the level's security system started to move from above them. 

Then it started to scan the guards in front of them individually. It did not take long for it to finish, three prison guards in front.

It was so quick that Lu Meili was not able to come up with a plan in case her NanoGen Lulu would be found and taken away. 

'Let fate decide.'  She silently thought to herself, finally. If she needed to give up Lulu and the guards end up destroying it, so be it.   

Despite this, though, Lu Meili still held her breath when the blue swiftly move towards Long Cheng as it was his next turn to be scanned. 

While she was trying to stay calm, he was casually standing beside her as if nothing was amiss while she watched closely as the blue light proceeds to move too slowly towards him. 

'Buzz!' 

The scanner sounded suddenly as the light shakes erratically on Long Cheng's neck. 

'What? I can't see any place to put a bracelet there!'  Lu Meili brows furrowed deeply in confusion. She braised herself for the scanner's announcement.
