Blood Emperor's Lazy Doctor [Hiatus]

Chapter 2 - When life gives you sugar, but you're too bitter to taste the sweetness.

Sometime between the hours of one and three pm. The sky darkening with dense cloud cover, blocking out the sun, a cold wind caring the scent of spring makes its way through the trees.

Beneath those clouds, that spring wind journeys beyond large manor walls, carrying the sound of thumping and thwacking.

"How dare you come in here looking for food. Without this ancestors consent do you think you can get a single niblet?"

Smack, Smack, Smack! Three smacks in concession land on the face of a rag doll like girl. Her hair a mess, her clothes even worse. Can you even call those clothes? More like rags. One would think she was a beggar with that appearance.

Two servant girls who's hair has yet grown, one holding down, while the other looming over. One taller while the other being shorter, yet both their faces not looking friendly in the least. A pare of young demoness' practicing their trade.

"What? Is this ancestor not worthy of your words." A sinister grin on her face. The shorter girl grabs the rag doll by the hair.

Although her eyes are close, the rag doll girl can clearly hear, but she chooses not to pay heed. 'This isn't the first time, and certainly not the last' she would often tell herself.

In her ears, the sound of running water can be heard. Soon a thump.

Realization hits her. Then fear seems to have just reached the rag dolls eyes. Trembling, opening her mouth to speak, but closing it again and again.

Courage to speak came too late. With hair gripped so tight the strands break and pull skin under pressure, her head is ruthlessly shoved into a bucket of murky water!

Struggling, kicking the ground, clawing at the hand holding her in place. I have to get free, I can't die yet, not now! Please... she cries in grief and refusal.

In the midst of her mind caving, her strength reaching nil, her head is pulled out before she drowned, coughing and expelling filthy water and what little energy she had left.

"Is this ancestor worthy of your words now, hmm?"

Both the servant girls laugh at the wet dog of a person. Clearly they are human, but yet in this pitiful girls eyes, all she sees are two monsters. No, it would be an insult to monsters if she labeled them as such.

"You filthy cretin! Don't worry I'll wash you good."

The girls switch places, taking hold of her head again, the tall servant girl bends down and whispers. "Are you ready for your bath young miss?"

Yes, this rag doll of a girl, is one of the many noble misses of the Hong Manor. Formally known as the second young lady, only child of the second master, who left home 15 years ago. Formally? What a joke, not one person addresses her, or treats her befitting her name. Obviously an empty title made up of just words, since her name never graced the genealogical records.

Lightning strikes. Thunder rolls out. Courtyards away, located inside a study, sits a middle aged man, dressed in elegant court robes, reading a stack of reports.

To his left lay an ink stone and quill brushes. To his right a wooden seal. Atop the desk, directly in front, leaning against the wall in a wooden display rack sits an adornment of ocean colored gems, with a mysterious energy pulsing within. Above the gems, a painting of a peerless, beautiful woman hangs on the wall. On each side of the painting, silky curtains embroidered with lilies.

The woman's long ink black hair falling upon her shoulders, held up in a half bun, a phoenix feather sticking out, littered with flowers and hanging accessories (buyao). Her bewitching eyes, so deep they could suck out your soul, whilst adorned in a pure white phoenix styled gown.

Finishing the report in his hands, he takes hold of the wooden seal, and stamps it on the paper, using his own essence energy as the wax. Leaning slightly over, massaging the bridge of his nose, furrowing his brows in irritation.

Before his mood could become worse, a crack enters his ears.

Head tilted up, glancing over the gems in the display tray, he Looks on in confusion.

An idea causes his heart to drop. The crease in his brows vanish. Quickly opening a drawer, bringing out a small sandalwood box, with an engraving of a phoenix soaring on its lid. Moving to open it, pausing short an inch, trembling slightly.

Gulping hard, he opens the box. Inside, lays a jade pendant and three gems, much like the gems in the display tray. Except... one of the gems has a crack! The energy inside slowly draining out.

Realizing which stone it was, his heart calms, then races like a galloping steed. His mood rises, eyes filled with mirth he laughs out loud, "The little demon's dead. She's dead!"

Continuing his mad laughter, tears staining his cheeks, as thunder rolls in the sky's up above.

At the same time, walking through a deserted trail, leading into a wooded area. The two servant girls from earlier, rush through, carrying a person that's dragging along the ground, with each holding an arm in a tight grip. The servants faces plastered with delight, their sleeves slightly wet, as they move about.

The girl being treated like a rag doll, who's breath had halted, heart beat ceased, and warmth cooled, and hair drenched. Hanging limply her motionless hand twitches slightly.

Within a few breaths, her heartbeat resumes, breath unnoticeable, but warmth still very much cold, the maids none the wiser, still walking merrily.

Leaving the man who's left the study unawares, inside the sandalwood box, that's been placed back in the drawer, the gem that had cracked, has mended back to perfection, as if nothing had happened.

The girl furrows her brows, It's so painful...

She felt a bone crushing pain through out her whole body. A heaviness, as if weighing a million tons. It was so painful, as if being crushed by a mountain.

What a suffocating feeling...

Wait, what is this pain? Shouldn't I feel like I'm burning, or at least feel like my limbs aren't there? I can feel them alright, since they hurt like hell.

Trying to focus, two voices that sound oddly familiar drift into her ears.

The two are complaining about the dead weight. Going on about how it's hard for a girl to lug around trash. In the corner of her blurred eyes, she could see them kicking rocks as they walked. Why would you do that? It's not the rocks fault that you're frustrated.

Watching as the ground moves under her feet, a thought comes to her mind, clearing away her perception of pain, and her near nonexistent breath gets stuck in her throat.

"Aiya... what to do, I got her to spit up the water, but she doesn't look good. What if she dies. Won't the master punish us?" One of the servant girls exclaims in a sarcastic tone.

Walking past the threshold of worn gates, leading to a courtyard hidden amongst the trees. The girls come to a halt, as the short servant girl replies. "Why would the master care, she's just a free loading trash. I bet he can't wait till she's dead and gone."

The tall servant girl chuckles. "You're right sister, you're always right. Ehehe let's go inform elder miss of the good news. I'm sure she'll reward us greatly."

The girls laugh as they toss the rag doll of a person on the ground. Spitting on her before closing the gates that didn't shut properly due to neglect in being maintained.

Moments later, the sound of footsteps could no longer be heard. Upon releasing the breath she was holding, the girl on the ground sends out a wave of spirit energy to assess her situation. Upon her retrieval of energy, thoroughly shocked, she sucks in a cold breath.

How is this possible? How am I back to this? This was my first life, when I was Hong Luo!

She laid there dumbfounded. Didn't I blow myself up and take that greedy bastard with me? That was definitely not a dream! It couldn't have been a dream... my spirit energy is too strong right now for that to have been but a dream!

Trying to move but unable to, the pain forces the previous death defying doctor Mozen, to go through a sea of emotions. Shock... disbelief... speechlessness... horror... anger... blame... realization... refusal... stubbornness... reluctance to accept.

Taking a moment to calm her mind, weighing the pros and cons. Opposed to her life as Mozen, which was her taking over a life that had past on. This life as Hong Luo, completely and utterly belonged to her! Even though she hasn't been Hong Luo for years. This life was still hers, which meant more to her, making her bitterness wane a little.

It's not that she disdained her life as Mozen, it's just she felt like an outsider. Even when meeting new people, she still felt in the wrong. As if every word spoken wasn't her own, or that she was lying to the world.

This went completely against her morals! So even though she spent more than a decade in that life, she just couldn't drop that line of thought. Which was the true reason she lived in the woods and wouldn't show herself.

Recalling life as little Hong Luo, made her eyes red with remembrance.

Having two sweet parents that loved her dearly, but suddenly vanished from her life. While waiting day in and day out, but never knowing when or if they'd ever come back. In this state of mind is when people from her father side of the family came to take her in. Well, it's more like they restrained her. Leaving her no choice.

She was never the shy type, even as a kid. She was just a bit lazy, didn't like dealing with troublesome things. Sadly this was considered a troublesome thing. She was fine living in that small house, waiting for her parents to return home. Even though it was lonely, at least it was home. She didn't want to leave, she thought about running, but she was just a kid, and a.d.u.l.ts were stronger. Fearing even if she did run, it wouldn't have made a lick of difference.

Oh, how she wished she had hid away when those a.d.u.l.ts came. How she wished she was smarter. She refuses to think about it anymore. Those times are already long past gone. Why should she have to dwell on what can't be changed?

Taking in all the pain her body feels. Mentally calculating the days, piecing together the time and date.

The bitterness in her heart is replaced by stark indifference. A hint of self deprecation, and humor playing a tune inside her soul.

Ahhh, I remember now. This is three days before my death. I died after going through another round of being beaten senseless. Carried by the servants, and dumped in the rain to slowly bleed internally.

I laid in the rain for three days unable to move. Contemplating the meaning of life on the first day. Until I developed a fever on the second day. That cooked my brain and killed me off on the third day. What fun! It's as if nothing ever happened. What a lovely start to a new life this is.

Laughing to herself, as if she wasn't the one currently laying on the ground like a corpse.

So let me get this straight. The first time I died I was reborn 500 years into the past, into a life where I became a famous doctor, that was dubbed the death defier. Only to die again and be reborn back into my first life 500 years later?

The humor in her heart is replaced with indignation. What cruel joke is this, I'm not laughing! Here I thought I was gonna live the life of a lazy ghost that haunts people when I'd get bored. Life sucks!

If anyone heard what was going on in her head, they wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. Your life was lonely as Mozen, so was your life as Hong Luo, yet your only concern is that? Shouldn't you have more of a reaction that is, I don't know, normal? And here you are, just mad that you can't be a lazy ghost... now that's a joke.

Sighing inwardly, unaware that the author is judging her, even if she knew she'd just roll her eyes. If I don't care what the heavens think, then why would I care about you? What a waste of energy.

Mozen attempts to adjusts her state of mind. Biting fiercely on her lips. Looks like I'm forced to accept this, I'm Hong Luo again, no longer am I Mozen. Does this mean I need to go exact revenge for my death?

Pft! Ouch, damn that's too funny, I caused my spleen to rupture! Why would I do such a ridiculous thing? I'm too much of a lazy fool to care! Spare me the melodramatics, I can do with out!
