Boruto - Naruto Generations

Chapter 14 - Striking a Deal

"Guess we're about to find out…" Boruto said as he stared Sasuke walking towards him.

("Is Sasuke pissed off about yesterday's showdown?") Shikamaru thought to himself as he saw Sasuke approaching their group.

"…" Sasuke finally approached the group and stared at Naruto with a discerning gaze.

"Naruto's in trouble…"

"Yeah, Beat him down Sasuke-kun" A few girls cried out for Sasuke to establish his Alpha-male presence, Meanwhile the boys who supported Naruto, or rather Boruto the previous day were sitting on the fence to see who would emerge as the new lead, as they preferred anyone other than Sasuke who seemed to always grab the attention of the females in the class.

("Popular as always I see…") Boruto thought, ȧssessing the atmosphere from his peripheral vision.

"Hmph, You really did Surprise me yesterday," Sasuke said, causing the atmosphere to become rather confused of his intentions.

"What can I say? I've been working my ȧss off,"

"As the saying goes, A ninja must persevere," Boruto closed his eyes and said with a confident smile.

"Is that so?" A voice interrupted.

"Ah Iruka-sensei," A few students called out.

"Good-morning class, Before we start, Naruto, I'd like to have a word," Iruka beckoned Naruto to come-over.

"Hmm…" Boruto looked over Iruka standing outside the classroom, following which he walked past the Sasuke.

"Hmph, Let's see you keep that up in the upcoming exams, Loser," Sasuke said, causing Boruto to smirk as he walked past.

"…"

"Say, don't you think it is weird that Naruto didn't lose his mind seeing Sasuke," Kiba asked all of a sudden.

"Usually, Naruto would be complaining about Sasuke to get off his high horse…" Shino added.

("That Naruto, I wonder what changed in the last few days…") Shikamaru thought to himself as he stared at Naruto's back.

Outside the Classroom,

Iruka stared at Naruto. .

"What is it, Iruka-sensei?" Boruto asked.

"Lord Third met you yesterday didn't he?" Iruka asked.

"Yeah," Boruto nodded.

"I'm the same as him, I was surprised to see you pull-off a Shadow-clone jutsu. So tell me Naruto, How on Earth did you manage to accomplish that?" Iruka asked.

"… Eh,"

"Is it as you said? Perseverance?" Iruka asked, Looking at Naruto, reminded of his final exam fail streak.

"Yeah, Totally Dattebasa," Boruto replied.

"Dattebasa?" Iruka also found it strange at the moment.

"When did you start saying that?" Iruka asked.

"It's only recently Dattebasa, Also it sounds better than dattebayo, languages do change a bit over time right?" Boruto asked with a grin.

"Uh…ok…" Iruka was taken back, trying to re-evaluate Naruto from head to toe, comparing his new style, compared to how he looked from a few days ago.

"I've gotta say, You've changed a lot," Iruka smiled.

"Thanks, I guess…" Boruto felt like he had been accepted as a true ninja, considering his memories fresh from the time he had used scientific ninja tools to whizz through the Chuunin exams.

("This time period, I can only depend upon myself. Luckily I won't have to get distracted with scientific ninja tools, as they don't even exist…") Boruto thought while also slightly missing his handheld gaming device.

"I only hope that you finally pass the exams this time around, we won't know if you'll be lucky to have the Clone-jutsu again as there have been talks to change the way the final exam is held…" Iruka said.

"No Worries Sensei, You can count on me to pass this time around, Dattebasa!" Boruto held a thumbs up.

"All right then," Iruka smiled as he brought his hand towards the door handle, only to pause as he looked at Boruto.

"Say Naruto," Iruka called out.

"Hmm?" Boruto responded.

"How about Ramen tonight, It's a treat from me," Iruka said.

"Oh, Gee, Thanks Iruka-sensei," Boruto immediately accepted the offer considering his splurge on the ingredients to make Burgers from the previous night.

"Not so fast Naruto, We've got Extra-Curricular today as well, which means as long as you do the miracle from yesterday, The offer stands," Iruka said.

"Haha, You're on!" Boruto pointed at Iruka.

"All right," Iruka said as he slid the door open.

"Huh?" Boruto turned towards the corridors as he heard people running towards the direction of his class.

"It's your fault if I'm late Ino-Pig!" Sakura shouted.

"Nope, it'll be Your Fault if I'm Late, Billboard!" Ino shouted back at Sakura, as the two girls ran neck and neck towards the class.

"Now hold on young women, You're both late for class!" Iruka stopped the two.

"Ah, Iruka-sensei! I'm sorry!" Ino and Sakura bowed upon reaching the classroom entrance, meanwhile Boruto stepped into the class heading towards the tables.

Iruka was busy giving the two an earful, meanwhile, Boruto met up with the boys group who were still waiting.

"What was that about?" Kiba asked.

"Ah, nothin, Just got a bet with Iruka-sensei," Boruto said.

"A bet?" Shikamaru asked.

"Yup, He wants me to perform well today, like yesterday," Boruto said.

"I see," Shino replied.

"All right Class, We're starting now. Everyone, Head towards your seats," Iruka ordered.

Everyone took their seats including Boruto, who closed his eyes, waiting for the start of the class. However instead of hearing Iruka-sensei's voice,

"Good Morning, Sasuke-kun!" A girl's voice sounded from beside him.

("Ah, It's Sakura-Obaa… *Cough* I mean Sakura-chan's voice") Boruto thought as he opened his eyes.

"Hmph," Sasuke acknowledged the greeting, but said no other word.

*Shing*

Boruto felt as if he was suddenly sitting inside a micro-wave.

"Move," A heard a cold voice, similar to the earlier owner.

It was of course, Sarada's Mother, Sakura. However, at this moment she was glaring daggers at him.

"Yes…" Boruto politely made way for Sakura to sit between him and Sasuke.

About a few minutes later,

During Iruka's lecture on Ninja's Basic Guidelines,

Boruto looked at Sakura.

"Hey," Boruto called out.

"Huh?" Sakura was surprised to see Naruto call out to her.

"What is it? Keep your voice down, I don't want to be caught by Iruka-sensei," Sakura warned.

"Oh sorry,"

"Just wanted to know why you're mad at me, dattebasa" Boruto said.

"Huh? Why would you ask that?" Sakura asked.

"Well, I would like us to be on good terms if possible," Boruto said.

"Uh, I don't know why I'm mad either. You're probably just irritating or something," Sakura said half-heartedly.

"I'm gonna need more than that," Boruto said with a serious expression.

"…" Sakura was a bit surprised, following which she decided to tell what bothered her exactly.

"Look, You're always after me, or picking fights with Sasuke. You cause trouble wherever you go, You're just annoying one way or the other," Sakura said as a matter of fact.

"I see…" Boruto said with a seriously contemplative look.

"…" Sakura was baffled to see Naruto concerned over something he never took the time to reflect upon.

"Say, Sakura-chan, How about I set things right between the two of us?" Boruto asked.

("What's wrong with him??") Sakura's inner mind was in chaos.

"How do you plan to do that?" Sakura asked.

"I will get Sasuke to get you to go on a date with him, willingly," Boruto said.

"WHAT??" Sakura stood up from sheer Shock causing the whole class to pause as all the people in the class including Boruto and Iruka-sensei who was next to the GreenBoard to stare at Sakura.

Iruka who mistook Sakura's shock for a doubt looked at her,

"You have any questions you want to ask, Haruno Sakura?" Iruka asked politely.

"Uh… It's nothing…" Sakura sat down slowly still trying to recover from what Boruto suggested.

("A date with Sasuke-kun? Of course I will agree!") Sakura thought.

("You think that's possible?") Inner Sakura asked.

("Of course that's possible, I mean I've always been sitting next to Sasuke, It's about time I take it to the next step") Sakura thought to herself.

("No, no, That's always been the plan, But do you think Naruto can actually make Sasuke ask you out on a date?") Inner Sakura asked.

("Heh, He better make that happen if he wants forgiveness,") Sakura thought to herself.

("Wait, wait, wait, You don't get the point. What makes you think Naruto can pull it off? He's never won in an argument against Sasuke, or even in practical tests. No matter what, I don't think Sasuke is in a position to listen to Naruto,") Inner Sakura argued.

("You're right… Unless…") Sakura thought.

("Unless, He has something like a leverage on Sasuke.") Inner Sakura said.

("Which means, once we find out what it is, I can control Sasuke,") Sakura thought.

("No, no, You'll make him hate you if you do that, but, if you find out what Naruto has on Sasuke, You can deal with him and make Sasuke feel thankful, which will make him to ask you out,") Inner Sakura argued.

("Well, In that case, Sasuke will still end up going out with me whether Naruto helps me or not,") Sakura thought.

("Precisely,") Inner Sakura nodded at Sakura's plan.

("But there is one thing,") Inner Sakura mentioned.

("Hmm?") Sakura became attentive.

("Naruto is genuinely asking for forgiveness, So I don't think we should be mean to him anymore,") Inner Sakura suggested.

("You're right…") Sakura thought, giving Naruto the side-eye glance.

Boruto looked at Sakura.

"What do you say?" Boruto asked putting his hand out.

"All right, I'll forgive you if this works out," Sakura said shaking his hand.

"We got a deal!" Boruto snickered.

*Achoo!*

Sasuke sneezed, following which he happened to catch a glimpse of Sakura and Naruto shaking hands.

("What are those two upto?") Sasuke thought shortly after which he was back to listening to Iruka's lecture with rapt attention.
