Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 44 - Alarm 2

"Which means, we should be ready to get into battle at any moment from now…"

After hearing what the valkyrie had said, the mercenaries immediately became a bit nervous as each of them clench their fist. Together with the halfling thief and the human archer, who couldn't help but held their weapons in a more tighter grasp.

The satyr instinctively began to move closer toward the Valkyrie side. Of the entirety of their groups, the valkyrie could be said to be one of the most powerful, and of course, this was the exception of Tobi who was in a disguise.

With the danger creeping closer toward them, she could easily adapt to the situation, and if worse came to worse she also had the highest chance of escaping.

"My lady, the great valkyrie, I hope to have your grace on me by protecting this young satyr." The satyr R-B looked at the Valkyrie, as he hurried to say the most respectful praises he could muster.

"Ain't you a mercenary?" The Valkyrie questioning cold expression and the disgust in her voice made the satyr lowered his head, for a moment before raising it back up, with a pleading look on his face.

"Oh, I beg of you...Even if not for me do it for the little boy Zeydec, you can't treat your mount keeper like this. Have mercy on this pitiful satyr, who is fragile and will be torn to pieces by the powerful ogres, and who would look after your Zeydec then if I am gone?"

The satyr's eyes were almost brimming with tears, which were about to overflow from the corner of his eyes, as he tightly clung to the Valkyrie's leg with all the strength he could muster.

Zeydec was the name that the satyr had dubbed the Valkyrie mount the black bull.

The Valkyrie Anomander snorted after losing the battle of words with the Satyr, she quickly shook R-B off her leg, rather frightened of the expression on his face.

"Good gods, thank you great Valkyrie." He bowed as he said so, doing it with both hands as he joins both of his fingers together.

"However, while I can pardon your lazy a*s as my steedkeeper, your pay will be divide by half!" The valkyrie Anomander said as she stared at the satyr R-B with a neuter expression, with the course of over the past few days she had learned a few things while she traveled with them. Which one of them was knowing how to be a cheapskate.

"The most is 10% right?" The satyr commented with a pleading expression.

"So you think I can't find any other caretaker for little Zeydec? If I weren't in a hurry my family has a bunch of steed caretakers!"

"30% that lowest I can go. Otherwise, this satyr would die of starvation!"

After finalizing their deal, the Satyr R-B was rather ecstatic as he wouldn't stop thanking her. With this done and settled, they had to move to a more pressing matter.

Suddenly there was a loud voice, that resonated loudly making the group's expression grow dark with a frown.

The loud shout had been from the front, so everyone looked toward there.

"Ogre!"

"The ogre is here!"

"Stay alert everyone!"

"Don't rush, stand guard!"

After the loud alarm had sounded from the cacophony of human voices, immediately afterward loud tremors filled with strange roars and clunking of weapons could be heard.

"The ogres have really appeared!"

As they made sense of the situation, every one slightly calmed down as they slowly got into position. The halfling within the squad immediately took out his dagger as he went and hide somewhere unknown in the shadowy corners of the carriages.

While the human archer made a quick flip and climbed on top of one of the carriages to find somewhere suitable for himself, as he slowly positions the wooden bow that he usually carried on his back with two arrows, now grasped in his hand.

"Damn ogres? What took those mofos so long!"

The Valkyrie Anomander said in delight, as she excitedly got up on top of her mount immediately darting in the ogre direction.

Even as the valkyrie rode the large bull, there were bȧrėly any obstacles in front of her as she showed a rather unique horsemanship in riding a bull. Even in the situation where, what she was actually riding was a bull and not a horse she had still managed to pass through the chaotic, environment and obstacles to make her way to the front of the caravan.

At the front, a few carriages had suffered some minor attacks, as they were in retreat, and several mercenary groups were already at a battle stance as they fought with both swords and broad swords in a somewhat semicircle.

Standing across the defensive group, were a bunch of enormous monsters, with the least of them being 20 some.

"Are you here to look or to fight?"She heard a voice come from behind her, as she turned around to see Tobi standing next to her.

"When...d...id you get there?" The Valkyrie stuttered in bewilderment.

Her eyes were focused on him in surprise, she had bȧrėly seen Tobi move from his spot even when the alarm was sounded, so how was he able to appear before her so quickly?

Even though the Valkyrie Anomander, was overwhelmed she didn't overthink it, even still it was a bit unimaginable to her, outside it being unreal.

'Perhaps rather than calling him a warrior, he should be called a thief instead!' She thought silently to himself.

"Are these....?"
