Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 57 - Ogres Guards

*I am Bral?*

*My name is Brogh!*

*Hahaaa, the oracle called me Brunk*

*Who is Kurt?*

Gil'takka nodded, as he watched the mixed expression and reaction of these bunch of morons turn into a mix of fervent, craze, delight, and bewilderment.

Which such unnatural boosting, they would awaken their names for a short period of time, which in turn would give them high status. With him giving them his Mana, the impurities in time would keep on doubling which was in another form of poisoning to their bodies and Mana core. But because their bodies were strong enough to temporarily withstand his Mana, giving them his Mana didn't result in instant death.

Instead, it allowed them to evolve and grow strong enough to withstand the power of an awakened shaman core. Only an awakened hybrid in its purest form could give direct mana from their bodies without much side effect.

Yet, this awakening of the ogres came with a harsh price. Only the strongest of the ogres could survive the effect of enhancing their core, in such a brute manner which was why he couldn't use the normal ogres for his plan apart from them being dumb.

Gil'takka smiled as he watched his Mana cause an unnoticed crack and unbalance, on the core of the ogres' chiefs. At the same time, he couldn't help but sigh.

They had only a few minutes left to live.

'The weak can only blame themselves. Keeping such weak genes will only pull me back, the demon flesh and blood are too precious to be used on dead things. Their death was only a matter of time after all.' Gil'takka thought to himself.

While the mercenary team fought their way through chaotically, the sorcerer slowly realized something amiss. The ogres' guards were now charging their way through the crowd of ogres, even some ogres were trampled upon without mercy.

Meanwhile, Gil'takka stayed behind the bony palace as he watched the ogres' chiefs rushed towards the human position, on his expression was a noticable smile and a glints that ran through his eyes.

The four ogres chiefs made the ground emit a low tremor where ever they stepped on.

As a veteran captain of a team, even with the death of his comrade and other human mercenaries, Urara-a had a rather cold but calm attitude, he had seen enough death that he was unfazed by the numerous deaths or the gruesome scene of his comrade being munched on by ogres.

In reality, being a mercenary and a captain had made him almost emotionless towards somethings, the weak can only blame themselves for being weak, it wasn't common knowledge for soft-hearted people never made it far as a mercenary.

'As long as I and the sorcerer can survive, the Dawn Light could be rebuilt in the future.'

'Just from the perspective of a mercenary, I have tried my best. Even the higher-ups shouldn't be able to reprimand me for what happened …' Urara-a thought to himself.

'As a mercenary, it is unprecedented that there won't be any death.' Urara-a fought as he stared at his companions on the sidelines of their formation, they were bȧrėly holding on against these groups of ogres. Apart from that, there were still a bunch of suspicious ogres guards that hadn't appeared yet.

It was likely that after these waves of attacks, the ogres' guards would be the final wave. Urara-a inwardly cursed, as he needed to fight for his life and at the same time, focus on trying to reduce his consumption of Mana.

He looked past the encirclement right in front of him. And at the back, he could feel the earth slightly rumble.

"Rays of Lightning bolts!"

The sorcerer said as she lifted up a blue scroll and tore it. Immediately after, there was a slight tremor and a sudden flash of numerous blue-white lightning that struck a group of ogres. Those who were struck fell on the ground after being burnt charred, a few could bȧrėly realize what was happening to their companions, before being struck by the spell, this temporary victory created a path for the sorcerer.

The sorcerer nodded in delight as she watched some group of ogres scatter, after witnessing the weird sudden death of their companions. However, before she could comprehend what was happening, she felt a powerful mana undulation was being emitted from afar.

"The ogres' guards are here!" The sorcerer screamed at the top of her lungs, as she saw the ogres' guards rushing over from afar.

These new ogres were more than 1.7metres tall. In comparison to other ogres, these ogres guards were like children and ȧduŀts given the standard of ogres, but they had mana aura on their bodies and seem more intelligent than the normal ogres.

"Ogre guards!" The group of human mercenaries shouted as they saw them, thanks to the information from the sorcerer they knew how dangerous these ogres guards were. Apart from the ogres' shaman, they were actually much more powerful. But it was also surprising that the ogres' shaman hadn't appeared yet.

The sorcerer suddenly realized something, her spell scroll emitted sparks every time she sent waves of Mana to activate it.. Due to the fact she was attempting to stabilize the unknown changes to her scrolls, she didn't notice the ogre guard Bral stretching his towards her.
