Chapter 63 - Holy treasure

But before he left Brunk was giving a broad sword, this was obviously the same broad sword of the human mercenary captain. With the blessing of the sacred Oracle, it had been reforged and enhance into a holy treasure of the ogres.

Gil'takka nodded his head, with his communication with the sacred Oracle, he had been ȧssured of the might the holy treasure would possess in a fight, and at a critical moment, it could also temporarily passed some mana into Brunk mana core.

While Brunk held the holy sacred treasure in his grasp, he felt a prickling weird sensation on both his skin and Mana core, through this prickling sensation his skin started to crack but harden as well while his core went from the threshold of rank 1 to fully advance into rank 1 liquid core.

'How do those ogres increase their Mana core? Even though Horus didn't elaborate on the artificial means and enhancement of core, he had basically explained only Mana crystal possesses such artificial means.'

Tobi thought to himself in surprise, the whole process of the ogres' guard suddenly enhancing his Mana core didn't escape his senses, he didn't miss how the ogres chief leader Gil'takka would move toward the child ogre statue, inwardly his conclusion was that the child ogre statue possessed some lesser sentient, but now he held a slight doubt he wasn't completely sure since his senses would practically be blocked every time his senses wanted to pry into it.

Brunk became excited with the holy sacred treasure of the ogres in his hands, he was fearless. His huge figure charge at Tobi, thanks to the increase to a rank 1 liquid core he also became much faster, which meant he was now the strongest ogre chief apart from the chief leader Gil'takka.

Even with such an increase in prowess, Brunk still held no advantage against Tobi, only what made him annoying was the fact the ogre guard was basically swinging the broad sword like a madman, aside from that his use of the broad sword lack basic training. In terms of sheer physical power he still held no advantage against him, he was like a child playing with an ȧduŀt.

'Will the other ogres' guard, also get the same artificial increase in prowess?' Tobi thought to himself, after a few minutes he let out a breathe, luckily his hypotheses were just overthinking, even still he had no choice but to fight seriously.

He decided to save some Mana and spells in case of emergency, just to be on a safer side, after all the ogres' guards were already a bit troublesome he imagine the shaman would likely be more difficult.

Even though he could use Mana Technique it would probably be more difficult, it was unlike normal times where his focus and concentration were at their peak. If he wanted to apply Awaken Mana Technique it would require more time and was practically dependant on his current state of mind and condition.

Aside from that, it could momentarily make him a sitting duck, since it would destabilize the flow of Tob's Mana especially since the ogres' shaman seems to possess a means of disrupting the flow of elemental Mana in the environment.

Even though Tobi's speed and strength gave him a better means to use various ranges of attack, Brunk still struggled as he was on defense. While the ogres' soldiers attack in frenzy, the other two ogres guard couldn't stand idly either as they attack from all sides.

Tobi had no choice but to start moving from his position, that way the ogres guard wouldn't be able to obstruct him.

While Brunk was on the defensive, it still manages to shout out orders with strange roars that made the remaining ogres try to use tactics in their attacks.

Even with the ogres being on the losing side, Tobi could see the ogres shaman had no intention of joining the fray, he seemed rather uninterested.

Meanwhile, Tobi noticed something else every time an ogres soldier was killed instead of abandoning the corpse, the ogres' guards would take turns to devour the corpse's mana core even before the mana in the core start dissipating from it.

This slight action made the remaining ogres have an unnatural increase in prowess even to the point of the side effects, becoming more obvious even with that they bȧrėly seem to care instead, they would only let out weird muffled roars in agony as their eyes became more bloodshot.

The soldiers stood on their ground, even as their numbers decrease they seem to be replacing quantity with quality with their duties of the ogres' guards devouring momentum.

Before the fight, the ogres' guard would certainly have had no means to face off against him, however, things slowly prove to be different especially with the ogres' guards ignoring the side effects, to let their rank 1 Mana core creep towards rank 2 core.

While the ogres' guards use brute strength and brash attitude, inputting their all in every strike, Tobi had to nerf himself to use the minimum strength possible, since he doesn't know how long the devouring effect or Mana core would last.

Between the sudden turn of events and Tobi managing to hold his ground against three blessed ogres guards with them having strength almost at the end of rank 1 core spectrum, with more than a hundred ogres soldiers, the ogres' guards and shaman truly believed to be facing a real demon beast.

It was as though, the demon beast was adapting to the current changes the ogres were making, without losing.. Every ogre that came close to Tobi either had its neck shattered or Mana's core plunged out, killing them instantly.
