Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 91 - Black Knight

Bella dried herself after a warm bath, before wearing a new set of clothes. Soon it was nighttime with the facade of sleeping, Tobi and Bella snuck outside.

"How are you feeling?" Bella said referring to his bad premonition.

"Fine, but let begin." Tobi dropped the matter. He preferred to explain to her the basics of being a vampire since he could feel his instincts screaming at him with every moment spent.

Within the night sky, the moon had its silver hue veiled around the forest with the chirp both of insects and birds.

"There are two things that you must never forget about being a vampire," Tobi stated.

"The first is that our secret cannot be exposed to anyone. The history of vampires had always been obscure, and every person that has ever spread its tale, go 'missing' either by accident or mysteriously.

I have no idea how many vampires are out there, so far it's just me and you. I only discovered their nature through instincts. So sadly, those holy shrines might be the ones with the answers."

"The Holy Shrine?" The news shocked Bella.

"Yes." Tobi nodded. "What I am trying to say is that not only you can't tell anyone about our kind, but also that if you ever get found out you will be killed, either by the vampires or the holy Shrine."

"Kill them? Why?" Bella asked worriedly.

"Think about it," Tobi explained. "For instance, if a greedy man suddenly found a carriage filled with gold coins would it want anybody to know about it.

But in this case, apart from the news spreading like a deadly plaque, a massacre would occur and every human that knows about it would perish by accident."

Tobi paused, letting Bella ponder on his words. She wasn't a naive little girl anymore. This recent incident had been her wake-up call, Bella had to summon her courage while also expecting the unexpected from the world.

"Do you mean that not even to mother, father and sister.." Bella asked.

"Not even mother, father, and big sister must know, just me and you." Tobi shook his head, with a sigh.

"The second thing is that as a vampire we have a long lifespan and don't age and every time you use Mana Technique or Mana Accumulator you can cease the need for drinking blood. By drawing in the world energy you'll get to discover more of your ability.

It means you'll see our family, your husband, and your children perish and turn to dust, while you'll still look like a teenager. You can either just practice like a normal human and live a normal life, or use those techniques to become stronger also progressively set apart from living like normal humans."

"I'm sorry, but I need some space to digest all this." Bella curled head on her legs with her back resting against the tree, jumping off the tree Tobi left her to sort emotion. He knew her head was spinning because of all these sudden revelations.

Only when the silver hue shone on her skin, the world seemed to regain a sense of resemblance to her.

"Little brother can we walk? All that talking about human killings, and immortality seriously got me scared." Bella called out, being left alone in such subtle darkness, without anyone familiar close-by made her feel lonely.

Tobi knew how his sister felt, he knew she would never be the same again, which he felt would be a challenge to inner herself. While he thought he walked towards her.

"Sure, but we can't get very far though." Tobi did his best not to make her feel uncomfortable.

'Sigh, this couldn't go any worse. I guess she was not mentally prepared for all this. I must find something else to say or I can change the topic to lift up her mood.'

Tobi and Bella walked around the forest, with dim blue and flickering bright red halo eyes. For several minutes they remained silent, the only audible sound was the rustling of the leaves and woods bird chirps.

Such a situation was a headache for Tobi, he realized how awkward such quietness was.

'Goodness me! Why doesn't sister say anything? Is she okay? Am I supposed to lighten her mood, or should I wait for her to speak up first?'

Tobi was confused about what to do, he had never had such human interaction with his sisters before.

"Little brother, I'm so confused. What do you think I should now?" Bella asked with a hint of worry.

"I don't really know myself." Tobi's voice was hoarse due to the strain he was under.

"Do you think it is right to kill a person, just because of a secret?" She continued walking at a fast pace.

"No, but sometimes some situations are bigger than humans." Tobi sighed.

"I was just like you at the beginning, but everything changed, and what I experienced changed both my body and mind together. Even if the person that discovers your secret is a good one, would you risk your whole family's lives just because of a stranger?

"Would you risk them becoming hostages, to keep you on a leash? There's nothing that people with power wouldn't do to not lose their power." Tobi explained.

"What do you think is better between longevity and power? I mean. The stronger I get the longer I'll live, but I'm scared of ending up all alone." Bella sounded depressed, her eyes on the verge of raining.

"Honestly, I don't really have any choice on the matter. I'm glad I got all this power to protect our family, otherwise, they might have been dead by now. There's one thing I can promise you, though. I will not let you or our parents and big sister be alone or in harm's way!"

He also told her about his mind world and how it energy works. Which included a time limit, area of effect, and casting speed.

With the last month spent on teaching Bella, passed uneventfully. Tobi's fifth birthday arrived as he clocked five years.

Also within the first weeks of becoming five years, the easiness became unbearable. Making him grumble every time.

Tobi's little minions became popular with their sales of veggies, making him sell at least five gold coins a day.

Both, Christopher and Christy, had faces full of smiles, as his earnings had begun to prove to be an invaluable extra income for them.

With the night approaching fast, everyone felt tired as the instant they came in contact with their beds, they all fell asleep instantly.

Suddenly amidst his sleep, Tobi's body was jolted up by a firmed grip. Waking him up as he appeared dazed, his ears slightly recoiled by a high-pitched scream, and loud songs he found to be a bit weird.

Fire touches casted a shadow to loom over their house, the phenomenon left Tobi flustered. Looking over he saw his parent's panicked and grim expression.

The shadow was like a meteor shower, the ground vibrated and firewoods sizzled like water pouring into hot fire oils. His parent's warm expression was full of fear, like a child in midst of darkness.

Tobi stares at all this with a lost and frightened expression, he had never seen his parents behaved like this except when he was being called a demon child.

'Isn't it supposed to be every ten years?.' Tobi thought inwardly, accompanied by fear, their house wooden doors were like a thin layer of glass shield at its last wit. As it shook violently.

He thought of the story his parents told him about demonic children, Tobi worries have always been the day they will come. Even though his instincts, had foretold such he didn't believe it.

If he fought back would they attack his family? And if he didn't would they still attack? He was so scared of losing his family he lost all sense of wit.

The thought of losing his family was unbearable to him, he didn't want to grieve over their death.

The door was pushed open violently, as a heavy footstep resonated. A voice rang inside their house.

"Where is the child?"

Tobi's parents recognized the deep cold voice, the voice of the holy knight. This was the voice that took their first son away from them, it was like a death call.

This knight had a leather whip in his hands, instead of a sword, a black steel helmet covering his face, with a pair of golden eyes. His stature was big, his entire body was covered in thick black steel armor.

The black steel knight stared at Tobi, before moving his gaze to Christy and Christopher, "What are you looking at? Hurry up and hand over the demonic child. And nobody would get hurt!"

"No, don't touch my son." Christopher had bloodshed eyes as he stood in front of the black steel knight, his voice sounded pained and desperate, he gripped his fist tightly displaying his resolution. while Christy carried Tobi in a tight embrace, her expression showed a determined look to protect her son.

"Little Brother."

"Little brother."

Bell and Bella, ran out of their room with tears streaming down their faces. Their faces were filled with bewilderment and fear, as they rushed towards Christy and Tobi.

"Please, don't take our brother away." They hugged Tobi, as they all brawled their eyes out.

Amidst their tears, the black steel knight, took large strides as he forcefully tries to pull Tobi from Christy's embrace. His body towering over their figures, his hands held up Tobi's left arm in a tight grasp.

Christopher ran forward as he held the black steel knight's right arm, mustering all the strength to take his son away from this death god.

"Insolent!" Was what the Black steel knight shouted with a hoarse voice, as he forcefully kicked Christopher staggering figure to the ground, but Christopher still stretched out his hands in an attempt to put up a struggle.

The Black steel knight gold cold eyes glared at Christopher, before striking him with his black whip, there was a flash of the black projectile before his forehead.

A subtle sound of something hitting the ground could be heard within the room, Christopher felt his vision blur for a moment, with a tremendous pain that soon made him passed out.

"Christopher!"

"Father!"

Christy, Tobi, Bell, and Bella showed a frantic expression of shock, anger, fear, and hatred.

She had snort all over, she felt despair. She hadn't experienced so much pain since she watched her first son being taken away. She didn't want such to repeat itself again, she was ready to protect her son at all cost.

Within a few moments, a group of black steel knights rushed in. As they forcefully tied up Christy, Bell, and Bella, their resistance all appeared futile before these men. They could only scream out their pain and unwillingness to let them take Tobi away.

No matter how unwilling they were Tobi's body was like a beast locked in a cage, they all watched as they dragged his sorry figure sprawling on the ground.

A Savage intent spread as they felt a slight tremor on the ground, Tobi stood up with his body trembling and his eyes that had formed a cold bright head halo to it, accompanied by a stronger tremor.

Everything that was happening made Tobi feel like his crotch had been tightly gripped by a wild beast. Tears drops made his eyes blur for a moment.

"How dare you touch my father!" He yelled at the black steel knight, his fury was brewing to its peak.

Tobi appeared like a mad beast, desperate enough to throw away his life for a single chance to bite back at his enemy.

He forcefully broke free his left hand the black steel knight held, as he used 'Mana Bloodlust' making his body to be endowed in a grey mist, enhancing his reflex, strength, and speed, instantly gathering momentum in his body as he pounced at the black steel knight.

His desperate attack ended with a muffled thud sound that resonated, he felt a tremendous force constricting his consciousness. His consciousness was slowly fading from an excruciating pain that permitted from the back of his head, the black steel knight held his whip lurking out for any second form of rebellion.

His gold eyes glare at Tobi's limped body on the ground, like a predator ready to deliver its last strike to finish its prey.

Tobi struggled, as he recalled the image of the b*stard, that had hit his father.

No matter how much unwilling, or how he struggled to get back up, Tobi helplessly lay on the ground, the excruciating pain made his sudden power dispel like a broken jar.

His blurry mind recalled the faces of his mother, father, and his sisters. He even recalled how his father was hit, the faces of Bell, Bella, and his mother how their faces were full of tears, fear, worry, and anxiety.

'Mother..... Father, sisters. I am sorry.'

'It was all because of me. If not for me, father and mother wouldn't suffer like this, neither would sister Bell and Bella.'

Now that he was facing his last moment tears pooled in his eyes, as he wept profusely, he didn't want to leave them, but he was also powerless to be with them.

His vision blurred as he lost consciousness completely, his body was like a dirty rag as the black steel knight dragged it across the ground without resistance.

Outside Tobi's house, its surroundings had a verse changed after they saw the Black steel knight of the Holy Shrine holding the so-called demonic child. Their gazes gathered on him were like those of vicious animals, loud cheers filled the air as if they had just survived a great calamity.

Some spat on the ground, some had faces of victorious smiles, some appeared to be afraid. They all had frantic expressions, but none had pity.

Everyone laughed without a hint of restrain, they cheered and shouted.

Within the dark night, fire torches burn brightly, as the people's shadows were like a depth of an abyss of darkness. Within the darkness six children, that hid behind their family's clenched their fists with an expression of blazing hatred and anger.
