Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 93 - The Twin 2

"Alright! Dinner is about to start, let's head there first before it finished."

A gentle breeze blew over, with the setting of the sun across the horizon, endowing everything around with its golden hue.

Looking around the surroundings, he noticed several large carriages forming a huge but crude temporary campsite, with a large fire at the middle.

There were many children his age around the fire, sitting and resting on the cloth mats laid on the ground, some had wary expressions, sad and dejected. But that neither stopped their wolfish eyes as they gulp down a large chunk of food on their hands.

Only his group appeared unusual, with the inquisitive personality of both Elijah and Matthew as their gleaming eyes roamed around each and every child with interest.

And finally, the expressionless Tobi.

They appeared much more positive compare to the gloomy atmosphere of their surroundings.

They walked towards a table, where there were quite a few pieces of bread and grilled fish placed. According to them, this was where food was being distributed.

When they got closer to the area, he saw that there were already a few children queuing up. They were only giving a glance before replacing their gazes on the dish foods.

'I guess, all these children are from different regions with the same story to tell.' Tobi thought to himself with a sigh.

He looked at the person responsible for distributing the foods, he looked like the black steel knight that had attacked him, with a black leather whip. His appearance was concealed within his helmet, except his cold and indifferent gold eyes.

My strength isn't even average in their eyes, even with my techniques that could enhance all my body stats five times greater than normal.

And again even if we count the children on the fact we are all twilight creations, these children bȧrėly fulfill the requirements of even fending for themselves, talk less of even fighting.'

He suddenly discovered that his plan might probably lead plan to a dead end, which then comes down to a few reasoning, why were they being captured? What were they going to use them for, what exactly is their aim?

Tobi found all their actions strange, with no real clue on why they labeled children as demons and capture them. It was for that reason, he was afraid, their journey was to the unknown.

He tried thinking about who was behind all this but shook his head from his uncanny interest and curiosity of overthinking.

The line was short, so it so was then their turn. After the black steel knight gave them a few pieces of bread and grilled fish, he wordlessly waved them away with an impatient attitude.

They formally bowed, as they greeted in unison.

"Hurry up, come up next!" The knight shouted, suddenly blasting the scared children awake even though they frowned their movement instead was quick since they were naturally not that stupid to recognize this wasn't their home and were rather prisoners.

Their group ignores the commotion behind them, not that they could do anything anyway, something like interfering would probably only hasten their impending death. They surveyed the area, before looking for a relatively remote place. Without caring whether or not the ground was carpeted, they sat down and began to eat heartily.

To them, such food only the rich nobles could enjoy during celebrations. Typical peasants like them, who only hard nutritionless white bread to eat, this could be considered a supreme delicacy.

Elijah sighed,' It's a good thing that we were taken captive, regardless of whether good or bad. If we would continuously enjoy such delicacies, I pray we should be kidnapped every time.'He secretly thought inwardly.

They all ravenously wolfed down their bread and grilled fish, before downing a large gulp of fresh milk. The trio wiped their mouths in satisfaction, as they returned to the carriage.

Soon Elijah involuntarily decided to talk about himself and his brother's biography.

Elijah and Matthew were illegitimate bred minor noble from northern Zone, Jos kingdom, and also one of the favored sons of their father.

Their father was a baron, and a minor noble of Jos, in the Northern zone. Due to their quick-witted minds, their father had spent many resources and pulled strings for them to attend the best kingdom academy when they grew up.

Their mother had died a few months after their birth, with his devoted love for their mother he doted them deeply, even to the point of shielding them from their demonic accusations. Later he died in a battle, soon their stepmother accused them of killing their father with their demonic ways, and sent them out of the kingdom. Currently, they had no news of their relatives, after wandering in the street they lived like beggars until they were suddenly captured in a dark alley at night.

They also had two elder aunts and an elder uncle, their father was close with. They used to reside in the Northern zone together with his parents.

Their family was a Tier one baron family, not too wealthy surviving from a few ports and lands. After their father died all his properties were seized by their stepmother, who later married their uncle.

Base on their story, the two siblings had a tough life filled with ridicule and mockery as well, mostly been ostracized their whole life.

They had no friends to play with nor anybody to shelter them when cold. Everywhere they went, people would run away from them, raining aggressive curses on them and their family.

Numerous times they would cry, even the thought of suicide had once crossed their mind but their strong will to live kicked in. No one wanted to be with a cursed child, every tribulation made them realize how tough the world was, surprisingly they didn't blame the world or the people in it, if a person was born with a silver spoon and luxurious life it was their luck, even if another was birth in poverty it was their luck after all luck differs.

A loser would blame the world for every misfortune, but a strong-willed would live through it. It was their strong belief and motivation that crying has no means of solving a situation so rather than crying, work harder and remain positive, better days were ahead.

That was why when they saw the sad Tobi, they felt like he was like them a lonely person rejected by the world. So they knew what it felt like to be ignored by others, creating their self-understanding of how it feels like to be left alone when they needed someone the most.

Their understanding made them aware to never take things for granted, make happiness your priority and cherish the little you have.

They were rather straight forward even if one was quiet and the other a chatterbox. Even after Elijah told their biography he had only frown for a moment, and afterward, with his childish smile, they made their ways to dreamland.
