Devoured Eccentric

Chapter 29 - Deadly Skirmish

==¬

Ah, what a sneaky f.u.c.k.i.n.g bastard!

Imagine just flying through the night, minding your own business, doing your own thing when a giant Vulture comes out of NOWHERE and tries to claw your brains out...

Like, Really?

I thank myself for gracing myself with Nova. Like I've already been sneak attacked twice! And both times, Nova's processing has helped me keep my head to myself.

Feels quite nice, to have a Head.

I roll my right arm inwards so that my body spins off-axis counter-clockwise, away from the sharp talons, and swoop down to land on the hard ground hastily, preferably without breaking a few bones if I'm honest.

Thankfully, my body is like super strong, not as strong as the manually developed one, but far beyond the average person's. I roll on the ground safely, alert of every minute movement in the surroundings.

This time, a more than audible flap dispersed surrounding fog revealing the body of the entity.

Also, if you're wondering how I can handle myself so well, it's all because Nova was overly cautious and sent me a module with every detailed movement my body could make.

Basically, I know everything I can do with my body, have complete utilisation of it.

Of course, being the small brain imp I now am, I need to learn what to do in which situation.

My old self could've just made a simulation in his mind which went through every thinkable scenario and gave an accurate analysis in what to do and how efficient each movement is.

Anyway, I'm facing a threat here. It's a Victorian Vulture, estimated to be Rank 3 Basic Terror with the ability to intelligently manipulate Basic Adept Mana.

I start with trying to dodge whatever comes at me, I have no idea how a Vulture with access to Mana will fight so I'll have to gain some intel.

The Bird rushes towards me at great speed while forming Wind blades of sorts around itself to at least injure me if I'm fast enough to escape its grasp.

YESSS.

Finally, there is some use for my Scythe!

Like I practised, with a swift motion, I unsheathe... what do I call my Scythe? Whatever, I'll think about that later, I'm in a life or death situation here!

As it lashes out its razer talons at me, I fill my blade up with Adept Mana, seeing as a formation of wind blade became much easier when I used the Higher tier mana.

The talons enter my feedback range, repelling my Mana more than normal matter. It had to coated with Mana.

Too Bad! My blade is more than strong enough to handle mere Adept Mana, I rotate my body outwards so that my blade's edge slices into the talon.

With the slash, my blade's edge makes its way inside, both the momentum of the Big Bird and my strength letting it slice through unhindered.

The Bird screams like a Bitch, lashing out with its other talon, making me have to pull out my blade before it spliced straight through the Limb.

My god am I happy that I had a rough mana cloud around me to prevent the spurting blood from covering my face and hood, it's only gonna bring attention towards me if there are bloodstains all over. Good thing I packed a few sets of clothing.

"I'm coming for your head Bird!" I shouted with vigour.

The Vulture seemed to understand that I called it a Bird.

It looked Pissed.

With a screeching howl, it rushed me while flapping its mana coated wings to send swooping wind blades at me.

So, I do the same. I swing my blade in a perpendicular angle to the incoming blades, splitting and dispersing them. Hey, you know what they say, offense is the best defence, right?

So I rush it, doing what exactly what it did, but instead of forming wind blades, I form my trusty Discs.

_

There is one thing I realised that I do with mana that others don't.

Structure it.

All my mana usually has a repeating patterned structure, or sometimes a mix of two. If I create solid structures out of Mana, I base them off of crystallized materials, unless I want something soft and rubbery, for which I use Polymers.

I know it sounds boring, but it makes a massive difference between my Mana and other's mana.

This was also one of the reasons why I was so intrigued by the conjured Wind Blade by Madison, it had a clear structure to keep it stable.

It made me wonder who made that Circuit, and HOW! I wanna know!

_

Realising I was closing in on it, The Bird tried dodging my disc by flapping backwards add space between us and cancel them ominous discs that were flying towards it with casual wind blades.

It greatly underestimated the Discs.

The Wind blades had a very minimal effect on the Discs due to their crude formation, the discs were still slicing through the sky to reach the Vulture.

Knowing it couldn't avoid them, the Big Bird put up a barrier as fast as it could, as millisecond after, the discs crashed right into it. Sadly, after 3 of the 5 Discs colliding and dispersing against the barrier, the barrier couldn't hold up any longer and let the last two discs fly past.

The Vulture just about manoeuvred itself to get edged by the first incoming disc on its useless limb, but the other was too well-positioned and homed in on its neck.

Luckily, it had a long and flexible neck. It managed to avoid decapacitation... for the cost of its wing.

It had enough in it to somewhat fly from its impending doom but...

due to its complete focus being on trying to save itself from the surprise Discs, it didn't notice me ultra jump towards it bearing my deathly scythe in my hands.

I saw the look of horror in its eyes right as butchered the Nasty Beast, like a silent plea.

Good thing Nova reminded me to cover my body with mana because there sure was a lot of blood everywhere, not to mention the insides flying right into my face before getting stopped and sliding down.

The corpse shook uncontrollably as it fell, before coming to a complete stop as it splashed it on the ground.

There was only one thing on my mind as I descended down to the Butchered beast.

"Guess I'm gonna have a Feast Tonight!"
