Divine Emperor of Death

2381 Taking The Chains

"Klade, I can't believe that I would see you again and that you would become my savior in times of need."

As Ivo Rein continued, he couldn't help but glance at Davis as though gesturing for Klade to save him.

"Sigh, Feng Chu." Klade opened his mouth, shaking his head, "You should release him..."

Davis's expression frowned. However, his hands still let go of that chain as he dropped it.

"Ancestor should pay me back my one and a half million immortal crystals for this..."

"Sure, sure… just count it as one of my errands."

"Alright."

Davis perfunctorily nodded, but both were smiling at each other, and their smiles were very different from the one Ivo Rein revealed upon their exchange.

"Ah, Klade." Ivo Rein's smile was one of relief, "I always knew that I could count on you-"

However, his face couldn't help but change as he saw Klade pick up the chain that Feng Chu dropped.

"You… aha… hurry up and release me. I'm extremely uncomfortable with all these bindings destroying the energy regulation in my body. At this rate, my immortal meridians would shrivel and would no longer be the same anymore..."

Ivo Rein ran his mouth as he awkwardly chuckled while Klade also kept his smile. He closed in on the other party and couldn't help but brush the cold chain with his palm as though he was caressing it with some emotion.

"Ivo, do you still remember what you said before?"

Ivo Rein inadvertently took a step back, feeling more uncomfortable for some reason.

"What?" he asked, causing Klade to raise his head.

"You said Cornelia betrayed me as she married into the Weiss Family long before you ascended. The others echoed the same thing, so I assumed it was true. But now, tell me. Is that still true?"

Ivo Rein's expression couldn't help but twitch.

"Klade, I know I… we were mocking you at that time. But that remains… true... even now..."

"Sigh," Klade heaved a heavy sigh, "I thought you would confess at least now, but..."

"Klade, it's not like that. I swear that she's an unfaithful wom-"

"Ivo, it's been a long time.

Ivo Rein hurriedly shook his hands when his expression abruptly froze. The crimson-robed woman who was seated beside Klade seemingly stood up, removing her veil. He thought she was unrelated, but his scalp turned numb once he saw the unnerving resemblance.

"Co-Cornelia…!?"

His expression instantly became ugly, his pupils shaking in fear.

Because he knew that he had lied, he knew that he couldn't just turn around and say, 'yes, we made that up to mock you' to Klade. That would make him seem too distrustful that the story he told earlier would also be found to be a lie.

Therefore, he could not take back what he said despite the dangers of dealing with a heartbroken man.

However, with Cornelia standing here like she was in her prime and her voice sounding melodious as he was able to recall, he was stunned beyond compare.

Considering the time difference between the Fifty-Two Territories and the First Haven World, just how was Cornelia still alive!? And even young at that? What kind of sorcery was this?

He couldn't help but be shocked, his brain becoming fried for a few moments.

"Where had I last seen you? Ah, I remember now. I slapped your face so hard when you tried to court me while I was the widowed Sect Master. The next thing I knew, you had ascended."

"Is this your idea of taking revenge?"

"Is framing other people really fun for you?"

Ancestor Cornelia's gaze was cold as her lips kept moving without a stop. She appeared before him and waved her hand.

A whip of flames emerged and slashed Ivo Rein's shoulder, causing crimson flames to blaze on that spot.

"Ahhh!" Ivo Rein flailed as he used his hands to smother the flames that tried to turn his shoulder into ashes.

Even though his bodily prowess was limited to Level One Immortal, the flames quickly died down as though they seemed to have no power.

However, Ancestor Cornelia kept whipping Ivo Rein, causing him to cry out in pain as he danced like a fool.

This scene put a satisfied smile on Klade's face.

"Do you have any plans for him?" He turned to look at Davis, who shook his head.

"None. After all, this is my gift to Ancestor Cornelia for her breakthrough to Immortal Beast Stage."

Davis smiled, causing Klade to understand the meaning behind those words.

Ivo Rein's life was his to play with.

Unwittingly, Klade smirked in response and walked toward them.

"Cornelia, stop hitting him like you're humiliating him. Ultimately, he's still a Burning Phoenix, one of us, after all."

"Hmph!"

Cornelia glared at Klade, but her bosoms heaved before she eventually dispersed her flame whip. Shirley, Lea, and even Esvele gasped as they saw another side of their ancestor. They've seen her angered before, but to not retaliate after being asked an unreasonable request, they wondered how much she loved Klade.

"Klade… you understand..."

At this moment, Ivo Rein's body was burned quite a lot. His scarred body had visible burn marks lining over his skin, etched through his clothes. He was a Level Seven Immortal, but he was helpless to defend himself, causing him to almost cry as he pleaded.

*Bang!~*

However, a fist abruptly landed on his face, causing his head to explode into a fountain of blood. At the same time, he transformed into a thirty-meter tall Burning Phoenix. However, it was also headless, spurting out blood in copious amounts as it limply fell on the floor.

"Talking to such a lowlife or even keeping that scum alive is a waste of our time."

"Indeed. We should've sent him to his next life cycle as soon as we spotted him."

Klade rubbed his bloodied fist as a cold gleam emerged in his eyes while Ancestor Cornelia visibly smiled, seemingly approving or even exhilarated by her husband's action. She walked over to him and rubbed off the remnant blood with a handkerchief, her expression appearing to be smitten with him all over again.

Davis was also fairly surprised by Klade's decision to quickly take care of Ivo Rein. He expected to watch a bit of drama filled with torture as the main theme but shortly felt this was also fine. He could now perhaps eat the Burning Phoenix if he took it home secretly.

He licked his lips, wondering what a Burning Phoenix would taste like. However, Klade suddenly appeared before him, causing him to blink.

Was he found out?

"You caused Cornelia to become young… and it's not just a change in shape, but her vitality is also now vibrant as though she is still in her prime. Even if she became an immortal, this wouldn't be possible, so I'm aware that this is a feat that's certainly not capable of any apothecary, and now, you have even brought us an unexpected gift..."

Klade's eyes shone as he gazed at Davis in an approving light. He then raised his hand and opened his fist. On his palm was an object that caused Davis to raise his brows.

"My dear wife says that you have the potential but lack the wealth for it. Here, this is my family's entire life savings, including the ones that the Alstreim's managed to salvage for me when I was at a loss, so there are about thirty-two million immortal crystals inside this spatial ring..."

"…"
