Exp And Other Drugs

Chapter 31 - Don't tase me bro!

After the paladins threw several urns of oil and wine against the massive wooden door Jennala urged her brothers and sister in arms to light it ablaze. "Burn the heretics with holy fire! expose their evil deeds to the light of the purifying flames in our hearts!".

As she cried out her commands a select few of the young paladins began to cast flame strike. The gate was set aflame and began to crackle and roar like a redneck bonfire.

(You know what I'm talking about the kind your uncle used to say was completely safe while adding a few tires..)

As the flames grew hotter the gate began to buckle and large cracks appeared where the wood became cinders. Suddenly the massive slab of wood crumbled into coal and embers revealing a grotesque abomination of fungus.

The giant off white mounds of fungal flesh quivered from the impact releasing a small cloud of greenish gray spores into the air. As the spores began to settle back down parts of the cloud came into contact with the flames..

"Get away from the gate!!" Intalru shouted at the Draconians on top of the wall near the gate before it began to fall. He desperately urged Daphne and Amanda to run a little faster before..

Boooom!

The explosion knocked them off of there feet causing the three to eat a 'healthy' mouthful of dirt.

"ugh.. that.. didn't go as planned." Intalru said as he spat out some dirt and grass before looking back at the gate to see the results of his trap.

The Draconians that were stationed on top of the walls barely avoided serious injuries. More than a few of them broke into a cold sweat once the dust settled enough for them to see what was left of their villages gate.

A massive smoking crater spanning several meters wide and deep formed a new barrier for the would be holy knights to cross.

As everyone stared at the aftermath of the explosion Amanda couldn't help herself. (If we were going to just blow up the gate anyways why did we keep them out? that could have killed a few of them..)

"I uh.. I thought it was going to work more like napalm.. I didn't account for the pressure building up inside of the spores releasing such a bang." Intalru replied sheepishly while the girls stared at an idiot..

The explosion caused the debris of the burning door to fly at the paladins at dangerous speeds as the shockwave knocked all but the sturdiest from their feet.

"My god what was that‽" One of the paladins m.o.a.n.e.d as he picked himself back up he could hear several of his brothers and sisters in arms groan as they began lifting themselves up and preparing to charge in.

"Be careful they may have more foul tricks! keep a watchful eye for anything strange as we slay the beasts!" Jennala said just loud enough for her companions to hear. The squad of holy knights trudged forward cautiously yet determined through the mud and soot of the aftermath.

After finally passing through the wreckage of the gate the group was temporarily stunned by the sight of a massive crater, many felt their scalps itching like mad when they began imagining what would have happened if they were nearer when the explosion happened.

"Shamans stop rain dancing and start dealing some damage! dealers choice! Mages continuously release salvos of fireballs! Archers keep peppering them with arrows, Warriors fall back and defend the squishies! Kid! if you have anymore tricks now's the time to use them, you better level up at least five times before this fight is over!" Uru Elna shouted commands at a rapid fire pace as the paladins neared the crater.

The Draconians followed the orders to the T moving as one, the mages and archers began releasing there attacks while the warriors stood just ahead of them, Zul Gilga stood out like a sore thumb being the only red draconian and his massive battle axe didn't exactly scream 'ignore me' either...

"I've got tricks for days lady.. ever seen a paladin do the worm?" Intalru grimaced as he felt like his scales were being ripped off one by one, he hunched over in pain, as his scales slowly changed from green to blue as his horns began to grow and twist into wicked points.

Trace amounts of electricity began to crackle about his body. He grinned widely before parting his lips and opening his mouth wide for the world to see his fang filled maw.

The group of zealous youths were not mere children, these young paladins have been trained in the ways of the holy order for as long as they could remember. As the fire and arrows rained down they refused to show even an ounce of fear, when the chilling winds laced with bits of ice began to whip around them as those wretched lizard shamans started their blasphemous chanting they resolutely stood fast with shields held high. As the ugly scaled warriors shouted at and taunted the young paladins they held resolutely to their convictions and ignored the jeers.

The paladins kept a weary eye on the giant red reptile when suddenly an ominous feeling caused Jennala to turn her gaze towards a smaller and unassuming lizard suddenly the abomination began to curl over, it's horns grew as it's scales changed color.. shortly after the beast looked up with a strange glint in its eyes.. it almost looked like it was trying not to laugh?

As the monster kept staring at them with its mocking eyes it opened it's mouth wide..

"What the.." Before the young paladin at the front of the shield wall could finish his sentence lightning erupted from the blue demons mouth, and crashed into him before arcing to those closest to him.

The electrical attack didn't do too much damage in spite of the theatrics so at first the unlucky few were relieved.. until they realized that they seemed to have lost all control of their limbs before spasming wildly on the ground. one even rolled into the pit infront of them as he screamed in pain.
