61 Red Feather City

In the basement of a simple wooden house that seemed likely to ruin at any moment, a flash of purple flame appeared. The fire turned into a portal from which two silhouettes emerged as well as a three-eyed raven.

"Agh, I didn't expect it to end like this." Nydan sighed regretfully as he leaned against the wall, slightly tired.

"What happened...? Damn... Is it just me or am I now!" Ena closed her mouth sharply, trying to deal with the gagging, but she failed.

"Hahaha, you look like a pretty girl, but it turns out you're capable of such horrible things." Nydan grinned with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Shut up... Is that all you care about? Do you think bloody murders are better than this?" Ena frowned, trying to come to her senses.

"Well, partly. In any case, it often happens to newbies after teleportation. Don't forget to clean up all this mess." Nydan waved his hand carelessly.

Nydan climbed to the top, up the cracked stone stairs, leaving Ena alone.

After a while, she came to her senses, shook her head, and muttered, "There's definitely something wrong with this game... Why am I being forced to do such vile things...?"

...

Step. Step. Step.

Ena went upstairs, approaching Nydan, who had a massive raven sitting on his shoulder.

"Oh, have you finished already? Pretty quick." Nydan turned around, smirking.

"Let's just say. I have experience at it, though I had no desire to get it at all." Ena replied coldly.

"Agh, complicated life circumstances, aren't they?" Nydan chuckled.

"Something like that." Ena shrugged, then she looked around, "Where the hell are we? Is this your main base?"

"No... I mean, not really. I think you and I are going to do a little cleaning." Nydan said as his gaze went to the massive Dry Tree that was near the entrance to the caves.

"Hmm?" Ena gave him a questioning look.

"I wouldn't have attacked Black Wing when their leader was Hugo, but... things have changed now. Look, we have a hundred bandits in front of us as well as a village with a bunch of outlaws. Isn't that the perfect target?" Nydan turned as he waved his arms as well as his raven spread its broad wings which cast a shadow over Ena.

At the same moment, several messages appeared in front of her, which brought a sly smirk to her face as she read them.

"Well, sometimes the mood can shift instantly, can't it?" Ena grinned.

Nydan just narrowed his eyes.

...

"Miss Kyla, is it really you..." Roland muttered opening the cage.

"Yeah... Thanks for saving me, Commander Roland..." The girl with the crimson hair replied as she reached out her hand for Roland to help her.

"How did you get here...?" Roland asked respectfully, which showed how important she was.

Kyla looked away, "It's a long story..."

"Looks like everyone is saved, doesn't it?" Zayne along with Eline walked over to Roland, then he looked at Kyla puzzled, "What an unusual hair color... Who is she?"

Roland took a deep breath, "That's Kyla Redfall, the youngest daughter of the Redfall Family."

Zayne and Elin's eyes went wide as they did not expect to meet a member of the noble family here.

'Damn... Doesn't that mean she's the sister of the one who sent me that letter?' Zayne muttered inwardly as his eyes sparkled, 'Considering we saved her, we should be entitled to a reward, shouldn't we?'

"Fine, let's get out of here. These caves are a real maze, but I remember where the exit is. Come on, follow me!" Roland raised his sword high, attracting the attention of all the girls, "Zayne, Elin, go behind everyone to protect them in case of danger."

"Sure." Zayne nodded.

...

Just as Roland said he knew how to get out of the cave, so after a while the girls finally saw the sunlight. Something so casual made happy smiles appear on their faces, for they knew that danger was no longer threatening them.

"Now the easiest thing left is to get to town, isn't it?" Zayne said, covering his eyes from the sunlight with his palm.

"Yeah, the three of us would make it fast... but it looks like we'll have to slow down." Roland muttered as he looked at the girls whose gazes were filled with hope. There was no way he could leave them here.

"Then let's hurry up!" Elin exclaimed vigorously, "I can't wait to see the Redfall Family Mansion already!"

"Hah, in a situation like this, are you thinking about it? Although I won't hide it, I'm curious too." Zayne grinned.

"Well, what's wrong with being honest?" Elin smiled.

Red Feather City was a few miles away, but because of the hills and winding roads that Roland had to choose, it took them quite a while to get there, so they reached the city gates as the sun was about to leave at sunset.

"What the hell...?" One of the guards muttered, he was surprised and confused at the sight of the tired girls following Roland.

"What are you standing around for?! Roland said menacingly, "Help these girls and get your boss over here!"

"Yes!" The guards flinched as they quickly obeyed his order.

Zayne did not know anyone and he was no knight or guard, so he simply looked around the streets of the city, waiting for Roland to deal with everything.

'There are so many people here... This town is actually different from the original village. I will definitely have the opportunity to achieve more here.' Zayne inwardly muttered when a gray coin appeared in his hand.

Zayne lifted the coin, toward the sun. The soft rays made the edges of the coin shine as if to show its significance.

'In a few days I've earned more than I usually get in a month... Doesn't that sound like a dream?' Zayne pondered, looking at the platinum coin from different angles and turning it slightly.

'Well, don't get excited ahead of time. I've actually been enjoying this time, it's much more interesting than working in a store, but things could change at any moment. I'll have to see what happens next.' Zayne sighed, returning the coin to his inventory.

Roland walked out of the watchtower, shook hands with the guard chief, and headed toward Zayne, along with Kyla, whose body was now covered by a leather cloak.

"I hope you're not bored? I said it was urgent, but this old man can never let me go without a few words." Roland said with a broad smile as he approached Zayne and Elin.

"No, not at all." Zayne shook his head, "I love this place. This city is enchanting in its haste, yet measured pace."

"Hahaha, I agree. No offense to Elder Aron, but Landow Village is too quiet and boring compared to this place." Roland laughed, put his palm on Kyla's shoulder, and said, "Alright, let's get Milady back to her family, it's pretty late, so we should hurry."

Roland headed forward as well as Elin who immediately followed him. Zayne was the last, he turned toward the watchtower as his gaze grew darker.

"Roland... What will happen to the other girls?" Zayne muttered.

"Hmm? Worried about them? The Guards will take care of them and help them with whatever they need. Those girls may never forget what happened to them, but that's the best we can do." Roland turned serious.

"Yeah... I guess so." Zayne nodded, exhaling cold steam.
