Fate's Game [GL]

Chapter 11 - Ambush

A figure with ripped black clothes run through a damp and humid terrain. His boots sank into the muddy ground followed by splash sounds that echoed in the forest. The densely packed plants whipped into his face making it hard to see what was in front of him, however he had to continue run.

His body was covered with mud and scr.a.p.e sores, he was panting rapidly in and out. Who knew for how long he was already in this state.

Seeing an open space he came to a halt. He leaned on the wide trunk of a tree and grabbed his left sleeve with his right hand and tore it out.

One could see blood seeping out his arm, he was cut deeply by a sharp object and was now bleeding heavily. He had to stop the bleeding fast. Taking the torn sleeve into his mouth to rip it into a stripe, he swiftly tied it tightly on his arm as a rough first aid measure.

Even now he couldn't stop panting, his heart was beating 'putong' 'putong' loud enough for him not only to feel it, but hear it too. His black hair was damp from the humid air and cold sweat was trickling down his back.

His silvery eyes focused on his trouser pocket where his Walkie-talkie was. Unfortunately for him they weren't of use.

He only hoped Sasha was all right.

--------

An hour ago, reaching the clash point at midnight.

"Captain, this must be area B4, where the mercenary group will have to passage later on. The natural stonewall here is well suited to corner them in a surprise attack and use the chance to get rid of them as fast as possible. We do not have enough people to lengthen this, our stamina would not be able to handle this with the heavy gear on. And the ground is muddy there is a high risk of slipping. What are we going to do?", said the teams strategist who looked at his high-end map to determine their location correctly.

He did different kind of examinations on their surrounding to determine the dangers and best solutions the environment could give them and came up with a way how they could tackle it.

Sasha trusting his aid agreed to his conjuncture and ordered his team of 12 man to split into three groups of four and spread out to their waiting points.

"Ok, we will carry it out like that. Bibor you stay with me for faster implementation of changes for plannes, together with Snail and old Cat we will take the rear."

"""Yes, sir!"""

"Emil and Sabre, each make a group taking the flank and front. When you notice something abnormal let me know. Now spread out!"

""""Yes, sir!""""

With this formation they did a half moon like shape around the clearing in front of the stonewall, that would give them an easier time to ambush the mercenary group and finish their mission.

The only thing missing now was the mecenary group himself. Sasha was patiently waiting and half an hour went by, but still no sign of them.

Right then when Sasha felt something was fishy his Walkie-talkie started to crackle in inaudible sounds, but Sasha was familiar with that voice, so he knew it was Sabre's group at the front.

>Captain.....am-... a-.. bush-...front-... weird-... trai-... run! 'shhhhh'<

They were ambushed!

The contact broke off. Sasha could not restore back the contact with Saber and had to tap in the black about their condition.

Turning his pale face to Bibor, his strategist, who himself was shaken by the following event, he bombarded him with question, which Bibor's head himself couldn't understand.

"Bibor, we should have been the first team to meet with the mercenary group and not the front team! How are Sabre now? How could they have gone around us without our notice? That is impossible! Other than..."

And as if to finish his sentence, came an annoyingly high pitched male voice from the Walkie-talkie.

>Ha haa, this trash is already disposed off and you guys are gonna be next! But no worries there, it will be slow and painful, this is your punishments for letting us wait quit a bit! We had to observe you guys and that was soooo, boring. You all were standing like staues phfff-hahaha, waiting dumbly for nothing.<

He found his joke quite funny for he was chuckling for a while.

>Ahh, I have tears in my eyes. Still not realizing that we the Black Vipers, were hired just for you guys. We even got all the details about this area and having had the whole day to prepare everything. And don't think about calling back to the base, with that senile man there all the contact options with you guys are cut.<

So it was the old man who intended to get rid of Sasha, no wonder he denied the request of better equipment and an additional team. He wanted them dead with no exeption.

What a traitor! To use such despicable moves and that only because he was afraid to lose the power he had over the military with his position.

D*mn it!

The Walkie-talkie were then of no use, they had the frequencies of those devices and could hear everything they tried to send out. The GPS-SOS-System was now garbage too, because of the Black Vipers blocking. They were in a disadvantage with a bleak outcome.

There was only one choice left!

Sasha brought the Walkie-talkie in front of his mouth and gave his last order.

>Scatter in every direction, abandon the heavy gear and try to survive!<

>>Yes, Captain<<

With that everyone scattered alone in different directions to increase their own survival.

>Ha ha, yes, come on! Run, run my little mices! We Vipers loveee~ to hunt before eating!< ,came the taunting voice of the Viper member.

Sasha's team trained often in this forest and knew this terrain by hand. But it was night with little bit of moon light, their orientation sense suffert and with the loss of communication they lost every advantage over the mercenaries.

No, they even where at disadvantage, their group was scattered everywhere around with no leader to direct them.

Now they were no better than headless chicken in a chicken coop, disoriented.

But they had to survive.

Survive and avenge their fallen brothers.
