GAME DEVELOPER SYSTEM

39 39 - Special Mission

Looking out the car window, Gabe was quite curious and interested with the military base he was entering. The amount of Players and ordinary people walking around, some carrying weapons, others carrying swords, bows, shields, different equipment.

But what caught his attention the most were some people who were carrying custom weapons, or rather weapons that had been upgraded following Duke's knowledge.

This was quite satisfying for Gabe, as it was as if he had made a toy and out of nowhere he saw several children playing with that toy he had made.

In the front seat Donovan sat quietly in the passenger seat looking around while Steele was talking to one of the soldiers asking where they could park the car.

Gabe didn't pay much attention to their conversation and just concentrated on the first mission he was going to undertake.

Last night he had some thoughts on how he could do to develop in a safe way besides needing to take so much risk in the missions, but still being able to feel emotions and have fun, until an idea came to his mind.

'How come I didn't think of that before…' Gabe shook his head with a helpless expression after thinking about it. 'When I get a Seed Rank E I can start developing Peak E level monsters, and in the end even a practically D level monster, so I can practice in a safer way, having fun and even maybe getting some more money as a streamer? Or as an actor in my own games? Who knows?'

But even though he thought of it that way, Gabe didn't regret coming to do a Rank E mission today, as he also knew that at some point he would need to kill with his own hands, something he had never done in this life, and not even in the past. another, and it would be better for his mentality and security if he had to kill something that wasn't so dangerous now than if he had to do it in the future where the monsters that will be a bit of a risk to him will be much more powerful and with unknown abilities.

"Thanks Donovan." Gabe thanked Donovan for opening the car door for him while he was lost in thought.

Donovan just nodded without saying much since he was a quieter person.

"Where are we going?" Gabe asked curiously as he looked at Steele since he knew he would be the one to answer.

"Mr. Wilson has arranged for us to meet with the mission distribution captain for this barracks. Apparently Mr. Wilson has already selected some possible missions and a group of Rank E Players to accompany you." Steele replied, which earned a nod from Gabe.

In a few minutes they arrived at the scene.

In front of Gabe was a man of approximately 40, muscular, in military uniform, with neatly combed blond hair, a straight beard as if it had been shaved off today, something of a military standard, and a serious expression.

When the man looked at Gabe, his serious expression changed to a hint of respect.

"I take it you are Electronic Arts?" The man looked Gabe up and down with a nod and held out his hand. "I'm Captain Sullivan, I've heard enough from you boy."

Some Developers think that just leaving the abundant Mana they have to nourish their body will be enough in a battle, but he knew very well that that wasn't even close to enough.

Looking at this boy's developing muscles, Sullivan was quite satisfied, as he could see that it was impossible for him to have these muscles just letting Mana nourish naturally, surely this boy also trained alone to speed up this process.

"It's a pleasure to meet Mr. Captain Sullivan." Gabe gave him a polite smile as he shook his hand. "I hope the things you've heard from me are good?"

Seeing how naturally Gabe was acting in front of him, without fear because of his rank, or the contempt that Developers normally have for Players, Sullivan was quite pleased.

"Yes, they were definitely good, especially from the team responsible for our weaponry. Some of the Soldiers and Corporals on that team are already practically treating you like a god of the new world for inventing such a cheap and efficient way to upgrade soldiers' equipment. Just with the upgrade knowledge of the weapons you invented was enough to decrease casualties among Rank F and Rank E Players by at least 20% in the last 25 days." Sullivan responded with a smile.

Gabe smiled back. "This is like music to my ears, it's good to know that the game I made is being responsible for saving so many people's lives every day, it gives me great gratification and motivation to keep developing."

Sullivan's eyebrows rose again in surprise at the way this young man spoke, it was much nicer to deal with a Developer like that than those arrogant young people who believe they own the world after graduating.

After some polite conversation, he handed Gabe a tablet. "Here are three missions that we have selected for you. You can choose the one that suits you best and we have already selected a team with some of the most experienced and most promising Players to accompany you on this mission, rest assured."

Gabe nodded and looked at the list of missions he could choose from.

[Mission A:

An infestation of Murlocs is emerging off the coast of Sandstone Bay.

The strength of these Murlocs is estimated to be around Low Rank E, with the majority being Peak Rank F and some more powerful at Peak Rank E.

Find out where these Murlocs nest and destroy everything.]

[Mission B:

An abandoned factory has become the habitat of mutated bats.

The strength of these bats is estimated at Mid Rank E, without much variation in strength between bats.

Destroy the bats and make the place safe, a demolition team will go to the place next to demolish everything and prevent another monster from using it as a shelter.]

[Mission C:

A new species of mutant carnivorous plants has emerged.

There is not much information about these mutated carnivorous plants, but it is estimated that the average strength is at Peak Rank F.

Find these plants and bring back some samples so that scientists can study a poison to prevent this type of plant from proliferating. ]

Looking at the three quests, Gabe soon understood why the games were so simple, at least the low rank games. Different from what he imagined where there would be demon invasions and he would have to deal with intelligent monsters, the quests for Rank E Players were still relatively simple, which also limited the creativity of Developers who didn't have much access to the content of Rank quests higher high.

Seeing the disappointment on Gabe's face, Sullivan chuckled, apparently already imagining this coming to pass. "You thought there would be some more complicated mission haha? Don't worry so much boy, this type of mission is reserved only for the elite groups of the army, or for Players with higher ranks."

"Aren't there any more interesting quests? I didn't think my quest would be just killing some bats or getting wet on the beach looking for a Murloc nest…" Gabe said with clear frustration, so he thought it would probably be better for him to just develop another one. game and play it.

"You know, I was planning to get one of these missions to open your eyes, but Wilson called me and asked us to select the simplest missions that would guarantee your safety, there's not much I can do…" Sullivan said in a helpless manner, despite being an army captain, he couldn't offend Wilson over something as simple as a mission.

Hearing that, Gabe thought of something as he looked back. "How about instead of me going on a simpler mission, Steele and Donovan tag along and deal with anything bad that might happen?"

Donovan was quiet but just nodded, while Steele smiled and also nodded with a smile.

Normally they would be charged for separate missions, which was definitely out of their pay to have to protect Gabe on an out-of-town mission, considering they were Rank F Players, the price they charged per mission was already well over 5 figures.

But something they saw in almost a month working with Gabe is that in addition to the polite and friendly personality he has, this young man's creativity is something they never thought of in their lives, even with some ideas for their powers that gave a great change in the strength of each.

If just the potential that Gabe had for the future was already something that would make the two decide to follow Gabe without any regrets, the ideas that Gabe gave of developing his powers was already something beyond that, making both of them genuinely grateful for Gabe , that he didn't need to give these ideas to them, but that unlike other Developers who only thought about Mana and Money, Gabe didn't ask for anything for this help.

Just helping Gabe on a Peak Rank E mission wasn't any work for them.

Sullivan knew Steele and Donovan, who were some of the most powerful Rank C Players in town, so he had no doubt the strength the two had, and seeing the way they agreed to Gabe's proposal made the military feel even more more interested in this promising young Developer.

"Alright, with Steele and Donovan's help you probably won't have to worry too much about what will happen on the mission, even if everything goes wrong because of your inexperience, the two of you will still be able to cover your back, so no problem ." Sullivan said as he took the tablet from Gabe's hand and clicked it a few times before showing the new mission he was about to complete.

[Special Mission:

Fortaleza Gnoll

A Gnoll stronghold is forming in the forest west of Sandstone Bay. Apparently in this stronghold there are about 50 Gnolls with strength ranging from Mid Rank F to Mid Rank E.

There is only a single Gnoll Peak Rank E.

Destroy the fortress and burn the corpses of the Gnolls.]

Looking back on this quest, Gabe finally felt like he was on a true RPG adventure and was quite excited about the quest he was going to participate in.

'That's what I'm talking about, a classic rookie village quest!' Gabe thought smile as he read the information on the Gnolls.
