Granting You A Second Life

Everyone returned to their seats. 

Lee HuiQing's parents were next to show up and said polite greetings but rushed off home as soon as possible with their son. 

Qn Jingfei rushed to her auntie.

Rui Rui saw her mother and father and ran towards them: "Mommy!!! Daddy!!!!" 

Qin Jingfei and Tan Zhiqiang both wrapped their arms around and kissed Rui Rui all over her face. 

Tan Zhiqiang took his daughter into his arms and stood up. They both greeted Madame QIn.

Qin Jinfei: "Auntie what actually happened? I heard briefly from the police officer that called us earlier; he said something about a failed kidnapping attempt but all the children are fine."

Tan Zhiqiang: "I'll stay with the kids here." Although he wanted to know everything that had happened to his baby girl; he knew the most important thing was to comfort his Rui Rui. 

Madame Qin's voice revealed a hint of her exhaustion as she turned to Qin Xian Jun: "Xiao Jun you go and update Jingfei." She sat back down next to little 4th and placed an arm around him. 

Qin Jingfei and Qin Xian Jun walked to a secluded corner and spoke in hushed voices. 

Qin Xian Jun spoke up: "There was a kidnapping attempt, they tried to take Jun Wen and opportunistically tried to abduct Lee HuiQing too. Li Xiuying managed to stop the attackers but she was injured. We think it's an inside job. Big bro is having the staff at the mansion interrogated."

Qin Jingfei scrunched her eyebrows: "Is Li Xiuying okay? When will she get here? What about Jun Wen? Who is behind this? All the staff come highly recommended and vetted. And doesn't uncle Qin check for any hidden relationsh.i.p.s with the other major families?"

Qin Xian Jun: "Come on cousin Fei, you know yourself no matter how someone searches the true heart of man is always concealed."

Qin Jingfei's eyebrows shot up: "That's surprisingly profound for you."

Qin Xian Jun shrugged: "It was in the intro to a game I'm playing, thought it apt."

Qin Jingfei let out a small smile, it was always this cousin who would lighten the mood in any situation.  

Qin Xian Jun: "Jie text earlier and said they're on their way here. Jun Wen is fine. Regarding who is behind everything. I don't know. I think big bro has his suspicions but he won't say anything. Take Rui Rui home. And take mom and little 4th too. Somethings not right with them."

Qi Jingfei nodded in agreement, little 4th's reaction was normal for a child going through a huge ordeal but her aunt Qin's behavior was weird: "Okay. Uncle said the same thing. Keep me updated. Tell Song if he needs anything he just has to let me know."

They walked back to Madame Qin. 

Qin Jingfei: "Auntie, why don't you and Little 4th come with us? I called uncle on the way here and he thought it would be safer for you both to stay with us for a few days." What she didn't add was ... while uncle and the boys investigate and interrogate everyone with a pulse.

Madame Qin picked up little 4th who looked lifeless. He weakly whispered in a hoarse voice: "I don't want to go. I want to wait for big sister YingYing."

Madame Qin: "Baby your brothers will be here and they will update us. It's not healthy for you to stay in the hospital."

Little 4th became more forceful whilst he tried to resist: "No I don't want to go. I want to wait."

Madame Qin used a stern voice: "Qin Zhen."

Little 4th started sobbing on his mother's shoulder. 

Qin Xian Jun wanted to take Little 4th: "Mom maybe he could stay until Li Xiuying arrives. Jie said they should be here soon. I'll bring him to Cousin Fei's later."

Madame Qin: "This is not up for discussion."

The tension in the air was palpable. 

....

Male Voice: "Miss pretty kitty. The request has been completed. Would you like pictures? Or a Video perhaps?"

Zhou FengMian blanched slightly: "No, thank you."

Male Voice: "Well I will contact you in the near future with regards to the other topic we discussed."

Zhou FengMian: "Okay."

Male voice: "Oh and Miss Zhou just a little word of warning. I wouldn't harbor such devious thoughts such as teaching me a lesson. Thoughts like that will get me excited, and when I get excited I tend to lose control and things get a little... bloody in more ways than one."

Zhou FengMian: "I never.. I didn't..."

Male Voice: "I was just joking with you. The others always say my sense of humor is an acquired taste. Well, thank you for calling upon our housekeeping services." He hung up the phone. 

Zhou FengMian was filled with fear. She had in fact thought of getting back at the Soulless but how did this person know. What she failed to realize was that people with huge egos and her background all hated having their pride stamped on, so their thoughts were usually predictable. 

Zhou FengMian shook off the fear and pondered deeply. She would have to find a way to trap the Soulless if things ever got messy down the line. She didn't get where she was today simply because of her family. She had a ruthless mind. Besides she wasn't afraid of a little bloodshed, especially when it was spilling someone else's blood. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Qin Song was also plotting and finalizing his plans. 

He received a call from butler Mu: "Eldest master we have apprehended the informant."

Qin Song: "Who was it?"

Butler Mu: "Feng Su Yin"

Qin Song thought to himself the maid even shares a similar character in her name to Zhou FengMian: "Hold her for questioning. Find out everything about her, family, friends, even the exact time she drew her first breathing the world. Search her phone records, bank transactions, travel etc."

Butler Mu: "I've started the process of extracting infomration. Your father asked you to wait for him before questioning her, he will be here within the hour."

Qin Song: "Mmm. Thank you for your effort Uncle Mu."

Butler Mu: "No need for thanks. Eldest Master look after yourself." With that, the call concluded. 

Qin Song closed his eyes. He had never deviated from his initial plan because he wanted to remove the Zhou family from the roots. He had never expected Zhou FengMian to get so desperate she would harm the children. He analyzed the situation slowly to try and figure out what could have possibly triggered her to act. 

He was aware of the plans that Zhou Fengmian was slowly weaving behind the scenes. She had private shares in companies, collected information on her enemies and friends alike, had businesses overseas, etc. 

This situation was clear done at the last minute when she heard that there would be a trip. Besides that, she had also been calling him and messaging him more than usual. She was more neurotic and possessive. 

He checked the messages on his phone and scrolled through Zhou FengMian's messages. 'Ah, she had started the day after Li Xiuying was brought home.' Qin Song surmised trigger was Li Xiuying and the postponing of their ceremony. Zhou FengMian was consumed with jealousy. People like that always needed someone else to blame for situations they had caused. 

Qin Song messaged Zhou TingFeng: [Progress report]

Zhou TingFeng1: [Everything is on track for 2 weeks]

Qin Song: [Meeting at 2 pm on Tuesday to discuss details]

Zhou TingFeng [Okay]

Qin Song called Qin Jie who had wanted to accompany Li Xiuying in the ambulance: "Jie, how is she?"

Qin Jie: "She's stable currently, but still hasn't regained consciousness."

Qin Song: "Go to the hospital with uncle Shen. Something urgent has come up and I need to go and take care of it."

Qin Jie: "Is everything okay?"

Qin Song: "Nothing for you to worry about. I'm meeting Dad."

Qin Jie paused: "Okay. I'll let mom know you were called away for business."

Qin Song: "Bye."

Unity hospital 

After a short while, the ambulance and police escorts had arrived at the hospital. Li Xiuying and Jun Wen were both rushed off to be examined. 

Qin Jie had just joined the group outside the waiting area. 

Qin Jie: "They're assessing Li Xiuying now. The paramedics said she was stable throughout the journey. They still need imaging of her brain to see if there is any bleeding."

No one responded to him. 

Qin Jie looked around at his family: 'What's going on?"

Qin Xian Jun: "Little 4th wanted to wait until..."

Madame Qin cut him off: "Nothing is going on. I will be taking little 4th to Jingfei's home for a few days as suggested by your father. You both can stay here and send us updates about the situation."

Qin Jie frowned and looked at Qin Xian Jun's 'What's with this situation?'

Qin Xian Jun shrugged. 'I don't know bro.'

Madame Qin could see the twins communicating with their eyes: "Stop that. Nothing is wrong. It's been a long and tiring day for everyone. We're all exhausted. I want to take little 4th and Rui Rui home to rest."  Zhou FengMian's brother
