New Office

Elder Qin: "Xiuying, this will be your office and this is your personal assistant Jiang Huan.

Jiang Huan stepped in front of Li Xiuying. She was 5 ft 4 and weighed 150 pounds. She had a pretty face with voluptuous lips and dark prominent eyes brows. She looked approachable and competent. She had her hair tied in a loose ponytail. Jiang Huan wore a knee-length floral wrap dress with court heels. She exuded confidence.

Jiang Huan: "Dr. Li it's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to be working with you."

Li Xiuying: "Do you faint at the sight of blood and gore?"

Jiang Huan was confused: "Erm no."

Elder Qin did warn her that Li Xiuying words were a little unpredictable.

Li Xiuying: "You'll be coming into theater with me today to see how I work."

Jiang Huan nodded. She was actually really eager to see some real surgeries; she loved watching medical drama's.

Jiang Huan then stood behind Li Xiuying with a tablet in her hand ready to take down notes.

Li Xiuying looked around her office. It was large and spacious. There were two desks in the room, a large prominent one in the center in front of the back wall and a smaller one in the corner off to the side. There were two comfortable looking leather chairs and two desktop computers. There was a printer and a filing cabinet off to one side. Jiang Huan's desk also had a phone.

Li Xiuying thought that her office was acceptable. It had everything she needed.

Li Xiuying: "Does anyone else have access to this office?"

Elder Qin: "I have changed the locks to the door and there are three keys in total, I have kept a key and given the other keys to Jiang Huan."

Li Xiuying checked her watch it was 9:50 am: "I'll be going to theaters now to change and prep."

Elder Qin, Qin Jingfei and Qin song still remained in the office after Li Xiuying and Jiang Huan left.

Elder Qin: "Jingfei, follow me I'll be taking you to your office."

Qin Jingfei's heart sunk "Is it not the one next door?"

Elder Qin: "Even if I could choose your office location how could I risk you being so close to Li Xiuying. You wouldn't get any work done. Besides the Director's office is on the top floor. Follow me."

Elder Qin locked the door behind him as they left.

They started making their way upstairs.

Elder Qin: "We have a meeting with the board of hospital executives to discuss the management of the hospital at 12:30 today, lunch will also be served. Cao Shan will be here in an hour's time I sent him to collect information on the board. It is likely that we will be meeting with some harsh opposition due to our reforms. I plan to fire anyone who isn't happy with the changes, I've already heard that some of the board members had close relationsh.i.p.s with the Fu's and Cheng's."

Qin Jingfei: "I've already prepared for the meeting. One of the board member's Xue Chao used to be classmates with me in medical school, we've kept in contact through the years. He's told me quite a few interesting things about the going on's of the hospital. "

Anesthetics Room- Theater 7

Some of the staff were busy discussing Dr.Li.

"I heard that she's only like 20?!"

"Well, I heard that she's certified in over 20 different specialties."

"You think that's gossip I heard that she made a "deal" with Elder Qin; if you know what I mean."

"I heard it's not just Elder Qin she made a deal with, she's made plenty of deals with people in the medical world. Why do you think she was able to accomplish so much? Hard work? Pfft"

Li Xiuying was standing at the door watching the staff speak about her, Jiang Huan was behind her ready to put these staff members in their places. 'How could these people say such disgusting thing's about Dr.Li?! Clearly, they were just jealous!!'

Li Xiuying: "If you're done, the first patient is going to be wheeled in, in 1 minute. I expect him to be anesthetized and cannulated within 15 minutes. Are there any people here to watch the surgery?"

A staff member: "No Dr. Li."

Li Xiuying and Jiang Huan who was staring daggers at the staff walked into the theater. They had changed into scrubs and had surgical caps on.

15 minutes later the patient was anesthetized and cannulated; he was wheeled into the theater. He was connected to a saline drip and had all the relevant monitoring equipment attached. Li Xiuying was scrubbed up, she sterilized and dr.a.p.ed the patient.

Li Xiuying: "Mr. Li Aiguo, 54-year-old male, having a laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones. Do the checks."

The nurse continued to do ID checks on the patient. The anesthetist checked his monitors and gave the okay for the surgery to begin. He sat down and was getting ready to do a little paperwork.

Li Xiuying began the operation.

Li Xiuying: "Gall bladder removed, send to pathology."

Anesthetist he shouted in surprise: "Its only been 40 minutes?!"

Li Xiuying: "Closing port sites."

All the staff watched as Li Xiuying sutured the port sites closed.

From start to finish, there was not even a single wasted movement.

Li Xiuying: "Finished, call for the next patient."

Li Xiuying removed her surgical gown and gloves and threw them into the clinical waste bin. She then went to scrub up again.

The scrub nurse was sitting to the side, relieved the surgery was over. 'I've never had to move so quickly.'

All the staff members were stunned into silence.

We had just stepped into the operating theater! How could she be finished so quickly?! Doesn't a laparoscopic cholecystectomy take at least one hour?

1:59 pm

Li Xiuying had finished her surgical list and left the theater to get changed. Throughout the operating list the theater staff all had their eyebrows so far up their foreheads they became lost in their hairlines.

They now all stood around in the anesthetics room. They all hung their heads in shame, their faces bright red with embarrassment. How could they have ever said those things about Dr Li? Her surgical skills alone were enough to show them that she had achieved everything she had with her own two hands.

All the staff similar thoughts. 'What have we done?! How hard must Dr. Li have worked to attain that level of skill? How could we have said those things? Will she ever forgive us?!'
