Qin Residence - Elder Qin's Study

It was 11:30 pm, Elder Qin was accompanied my Madame Qin. They were both sat on the sofa. Elder Qin had his phone on loud speaker as he was confirming the last of the details with his contact.

Elder Qin: "The photo has to be one that everyone will be able to identify the time it was taken. Also, make sure it's large enough."

Contact: "Yes Elder Qin, I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the results when you see them tomorrow morning. I've chosen the best photo."

Elder Qin: "Make sure the caption and article is accurate. It's Dr. Li Xiuying who broke the engagement with Chen Wei for the happiness of Li Yu Yan."

Contact: "Yes."

Elder Qin was satisfied with the results. He put the phone down.

Elder Qin: "When was Xiuying's engagement arranged? So was Li Yu Yan the other woman?"

Elder Qin found that sometimes his wife had a better information gathering network than him, she was like a blood hound when the topics of information was concerning marriages, engagements, socialites and couples.

Madame Qin: "Li Wang had arranged Li Xiuying's engagement with Chen Wei when she was only 15 years old. At the time the Chen family were just a family of doctors that were not known to the social circles, they moved here from some small town. They started making connections with a few people in the medical world as well as a few politicians."

She took a long sip of tea and savored the taste. Madame Qin deliberately took her time, swirling her tea and taking in the scent. She loved keeping people in suspense.

Elder Qin: "Chyou can you continue please?"

Madame Qin: "Okay dear, no need to rush me. When the Chen family started becoming more successful and mixing regularly with the right social circles, Li Yu Yan suddenly started taking notice of Chen Wei. I wouldn't be surprised if that Li Wang encouraged them from behind the scenes. For the last several years Li Yu Yan and Chen Wei have been acting like a young married couple deeply in love. They've been spotted out together numerous times even being caught on camera in highly questionable photos together."

Elder Qin: "I never thought that the Li family could be so ruthless to Xiuying. That Chen Wei has no future he actually chose a fish eye over a pearl. Initially when I looked into the Chen family, I thought he was an accomplished individual with a bright future. This Chen Wei is apparently a highly competent surgeon even going to the US for a couple of years and working in top hospitals. The Chen family have recently taken over Emerald Hospital and they are one of our major competitors."

Madame Qin gloated: "How could they possibly compete with us? We have the world renowned Dr. Li Xiuying working with us. Beside Chen Wei can't equal any of our sons in terms of accomplishments."

Elder Qin smiled indulgently at his wife who always loved to brag about her sons. According to her; her sons were the best. Even if they turned into criminals she would probably still brag that they were the best at what they did. He was thankful that his wife loved his sons and treated the like her own.

Elder Qin voice turned solemn: "We'll still have to look out for them. Underestimating the enemy is never wise and has caused the downfall of many empires. Besides Unity hospital is currently a huge mess."

Madame Qin: "Okay enough of your business talk I haven't finished gossi.. I mean I have finished telling you my invaluable information. I heard this Li Yu Yan is meant to be a gentle and graceful young girl, who's soft in speech and very intelligent. Clearly all these attributes were put to good use when she was having illicit relations with her cousins fiance. Oh I forgot to mention something. She's apparently been accepted onto the accelerated medical programme at Northwest University. Her mother always takes the opportunity to mention it every time I have the unfortunate luck to meet her. "

She snorted after she said this; the only type of doctor she would be is a doctor in the bedroom.

Elder Qin was perplexed: "Northwest University? How could she already know that she's been accepted? The acceptance/rejection letters won't be sent out until February usually."

Madame Qin: "Maybe they used Li Xiuying in some way?"

Elder Qin sighed: "That poor child. Not only has she had her fiancé stolen away by her own cousin. She even has to help the same cousin gain admission into medical school."

Madame Qin also sighed.

Madame Qin spoke with glee: "I'm sure Li Xiuying will teach theses shameless people a lesson they will never forget. I can't wait for the news to come out tomorrow! Those two people deserve everything they have coming to them. Mwahaha." She accidentally choked whilst laughing and started coughing.

Elder Qin patted his wife's back gently and chuckled lightly. He thought his wife looked adorable as she took delight in Xiuying's revenge plot.

Neither of them had any idea that their entire conversation was being listened to.

Qin Song was lounging in his room with headphones on. He had planted a listening device in his father's study when they had returned home form the hospital. He had done so whilst his father had gone to find his mother. He wanted to know what Li Xiuying had discussed with his father and he doubted that Little 4th could be persuaded to tell him.

As Qin Song listened to the conversation, he felt like he was on an emotional roller coaster.

Firstly, he felt an overwhelming emotion engulf him when he found that Li Xiuying had been engaged, it wasn't anger it was a strong sense that he didn't like the idea of Li Xiuying being with Chen Wei. Qin Song couldn't pinpoint what he was feeling but he had never felt like this before, it left a somewhat bitter taste in his mouth.

He then felt relieved when he heard that Li Xiuying had broken off the engagement but this was short lived. As he realized that Li Xiuying could have called off the engagement because she was forced into a corner and may still harbor feelings for Chen Wei. Qin Song also couldn't decide who he was more disgusted with that stupid B*****d Chen Wei or the treacherous snake of a woman Li Yu Yan.

Qin Song then started thinking more deeply about Li Xiuying's situation and about when they had first met. She was dishevelled, covered in mud, blood and bits of plants and stones. She also smelt like a farmyard.

Qin Song reclined in his chair as his head was filled with question. 'What was going on inside the Li family? How had they been treating Li Xiuying all this time? Why did it appear she was running away from the Li family the day they had met?'

He decided to have Cao Shan investigate. After all she is now working for the Qin family and he had to ensure her well being, of course this is a boss's duty to his employee.

Apartment 5

Li Xiuying was in bed with Little 4th laying next to her. They were both in pj's. She had finally managed to get Qin Jingfei to go to the guest room to sleep.

Li Xiuying: "You cousin talks a lot."

Little 4th nodded: "She talks too much."

He was slightly annoyed with Qin Jingfei for interrupting his time with his big sister.

She was only a tag along, it would have been better if big brother had come he talks less.

Li Xiuying: "We'll leave at 8:15 tomorrow, I have to be at the hospital by 9 am. I only have one operation at 10 am, we can get an early lunch after I'm done."

Li Xiuying closed her eyes and after a few moments her breathing was soft and even.

Little 4th was as excited as a puppy, he felt like he had all this pent up energy inside him. He just couldn't get to sleep. 'I'm sleeping next to big Sister YingYing! This is the best night ever!'

Little 4th wasn't the only one destined for a restlessness night.

Across the hallway Qin Jingfei was tossing and turning. 'I can't believe I'm in the famous Dr. Li's house. I still have so much I wanted to talk about today. I'll have to make a mental list of all the topics. I'll have to ask about the new laparoscopic camera she created and the..

What Qin Jingfei failed to remember was that her husband and daughter were due to arrive tomorrow afternoon and she had to pick them up from the airport.
