Director Zhang Da's Private Room

Li Xiuying: "Your surgery was completed in 1 hour 30 minutes. I've written a care plan which your doctor will enforce."

Director Zhang was astounded.

A surgery that usually takes most surgeons two hours?!

Director Zhang asked in hope: "Will you be managing my care?"

Li Xiuying: "No. The orthopedic team will take over. Any other questions?"

Director Zhang shook his head. He was slightly disheartened that he won't be under Dr. Li's care.

Li Xiuying: "Please ensure you fulfill our earlier agreement."

Director Zhang: "Yes I'll ensure Li Yu Yan is accepted onto the normal 5 years medical programme and will be treated like every other medical student."

Li Xiuying: "When will she get her acceptance letter?"

Director Zhang: "We start sending the first batch of acceptance letters in the first week of February, we send both an email and a hard copy through the post."

Li Xiuying: "She will most likely contact you soon."

Director Zhang's voice took on a slightly sinister tone as he thought about Li Yu Yan: "Don't worry I know what to do."

Li Xiuying didn't say anything more. She stood up and swiftly left the room. She was already in her street wear as she made her way up to collect Little 4th.

Many staff members walked past Li Xiuying, they were initially going to greet her but when they saw her deep in thought with a look of concentration they decided not to disturb her.

They all assumed that she must be thinking about something important. Probably a new invention or a seriously ill patient. If they only knew what she was really thinking about...

Li Xiuying was thinking about what to have for lunch.

Maybe hotpot for lunch, I've always seen people enjoying a hotpot together.

Hospital Entrance

Li Xiuying, Little 4th and Qin Jingfei had decided to go to the hotpot restaurant.

Li Xiuying: "It has good reviews."

Little 4th cutely replied: "I'm happy with whatever you choose big Sister YingYing."

Qin Jingfei grumbled: "Let's get a move on I'm starving. I didn't even get to eat a proper breakfast today and I've been running around the hospital all day."

Li Xiuying pointed to her left: "This way."

As they were about to cross the road a car came and stopped in front of them. Ren Shirong popped his head out of the back passenger window.

Ren Shirong: "Xiuying! Its uncle, where are you going?"

Li Xiuying: "Lunch."

Ren Shirong: "What a coincidence, I was also on my way to lunch,"

Li Xiuying: "Alone."

I already have to deal with Qin Jingfei and her incessant chatter; I can't deal with Ren Shirong as well.

Ren Shirong spoke with a twinkle in his eyes: "That's fine, The three of you can sit at one table and I'll sit at the table next to you."

Want to escape? Not happening!

Ren Shirong had been trying to contact Li Xiuying since yesterday to discuss the bank situation. Xǔ Junjie and Sima Hwei-ru were constantly harassing him to set up a meeting with Li Xiuying.

Li Xiuying: "..."

Qin Jingfei's phone started ringing. She looked at the screen and saw that it was her husband. A sudden realization struck her that caused her to fly into a panic: "Oh No! I completely forgot I had to pick up my family from the airport."

Little 4th muttered under his breath: "You completely forgot you even had a family."

Qin Jingfei turned to Li Xiuying: "Dr. Li, Little 4th I have to go." She then ran towards a taxi that had just dropped some people off.

Little 4th was laughing with glee on the inside as he watched Qin Jingfei run like a maniac.

He he he, I'll have more time with Sister YingYing now that cousin Jingfei gone.

His happiness dimmed a little as he looked at Ren Shirong.

He sighed 'I just wish this uncle would just go away.'

Ren Shirong opened the car door, stepped around Li Xiuying and little 4th and ushered them into the car. Once they were all seated, the car sped off.

Ren Shirong had a smug look on his face: "So, where are we going for lunch then?"

Li Xiuying looked at Little 4th beside her who was in a child's car seat.

He must have planned this!

Li Residence

Li Wang ran in through the front door in panic. "Yu Yan, Mei Wu!! Where are you?! Come downstairs right now!"

Li Yu Yan and Li Na slowly descended the stairs: "Daddy what's wrong?"

Li Wang: "Where is your mother?! We have a huge problem!!

Li Mei Wu headed to the entrance from the living room: "Darling, what's wrong? What's gotten you so worked up?" She put her hand on her husband's shoulder. Her face was full of concern.

Li Wang was infuriated: "Have you not seen the news today?! I was absolutely humiliated at work. Where's Li Xiuying?" He started to go up the stairs intending to go to Li Xiuying's room.

Li Mei Wu gently wrapped her hand around Li Wang's arm: "She's must be in her room, we can get her later. Come sit down in the living room and explain to us what's going on. I'm sure whatever it is, we can sort it out."

They all walked to the living room.

Li Yu Yan sat opposite her parents with Li Na beside her: "Daddy what news are you referring too?"

Li Wang didn't say anything he just handed his phone over to his daughter.

Li Yu Yan looked at the phone screen in horror. Her face paled and she clutched the phone in her hand. Li Na leaned over Li Yu Yan's shoulder to have a look.

Li Na's expression clouded with confusion: "When did you decide to announce Li Yu Yan's engagement?"

Li Mei Wu screeched: "What?!" She snatched the phone out of her daughter's hand and her face resembled that of Li Yu Yan's.

Li Mei Wu rapidly fired questions at her husband: "Honey what's going on right now? Who did this? When did this get released? Why didn't you stop this? Can we contact someone to get rid of this news?!"

Li Wang massaged his forehead with his hand: "I don't know, I was stuck in a meeting for hours. So I didn't have time to look at my phone. When I left the meeting room, everyone was giving me contemptible looks. When I finally checked my phone I had received over 30 missed calls from Sun Yu as well as numerous messages from work colleagues, family and friends. Chen Meng also called and left messages. Sun Yu left a voicemail saying something about the news, Li Yu Yan and an engagement. When I looked online there was an article about Li Yu Yan's and Chen Wei's engagement."

Li Wang: "I've already called some people I know who work in PR and within the media to try and get the article taken down. But they don't know if they can do anything about all the threads and discussions in various forums. They said it would take at least two hours to remove the article. I've called a meeting with a lawyer as well to discuss our options. I won't let these people get away with this! Yu Yan call Chen Wei to come over now. Maybe he can tell us what the hell is going on."

Li Wang saw that Li Yu Yan was just sitting still looking into space.

Li Wang shouted: "Li Yu Yan did you hear me! Call Chen Wei to come over now!"

Li Yu Yan snapped out of her daze when she heard her father's enraged voice.

She started looking for Chen Wei's name in her recently called contacts. Just as she was about to call Chen Wei, Li Wang received a phone call.

It was the Chen Wei's father, Chen Meng.

Li Wang cleared his throat and tried to sound as normal as possible; "Hello Brother Meng, how are.."

Chen Meng: "Wang I'm not calling to exchange pleasantries. I've been trying to get through to you and your family for hours! What the hell is this news about? When was Chen Wei marrying Li Yu Yan! We set up an agreement between Chen Wei and Li Xiuying years ago!"

Li Wang: "Brother Meng, I also don't know what's going on. We're trying to get to the bottom of this. I've already arranged for the article to be taken down."

Chen Meng; "We are currently driving to your house. I demand to see Li Xiuying. Also, ask Li Yu Yan to contact Chen Wei and tell him to meet us at your house. He's not picking up our calls." Chen Meng hung up the phone.

The Chen family were well aware of the relationship between Li Yu Yan and Chen Wei, they just chose to turn a blind eye to it. They didn't care about what Chen Wei did with Li Yu Yan, they just needed him to marry Li Xiuying so they could use Li Xiuying in their hospital.

Now that the news of the relationship between Chen Wei and Li Yu Yan was confirmed, the Chen family were worrying about how to keep Li Xiuying within their grasp. After all how could they be stupid enough to exchange a melon for a sesame seed!

Everyone in the living room had heard what Chen Meng had said over the phone.

Li Yu Yan stood up, her face full of hurt and there were unshed tears in her eyes.

Li Yu Yan weakly said: "Daddy I'll go and call Brother Chen."

When she entered her room, she let the pure and innocent facade fall. To reveal an expression of pure una.d.u.l.terated rage.
