Granting You A Second Life

Theater 3 - 12:30 pm

Jiang Huan rushed into the scrubbing area. She was dressed in scrubs, her hair was messy and there was sweat dripping down her forehead. Jiang Huan's face was bright red and she was out of breath.

Jiang Huan put on a face mask and entered the main theater, she walked towards Li Xiuying. Jiang Huan waited quietly to one side. She took out a tissue from her pocket and began dabbing away her sweat and trying to catch her breath.

Two minutes had passed when Li Xiuying looked up from the patient's abdomen.

Jiang Huan took this opportunity to speak: "Dr. Li I am so sorry for being late. My car was broken into this morning."

Li Xiuying assessed Jiang Huan's current state, which was in disarray: "Okay?"

Jiang Huan: "Yes, thank you for asking. When I arrived at my car a passerby who had witnessed the break in had already called the police and was giving a statement. The witness said it was a couple of teenagers and when they saw him they ran. "

Li Xiuying thought that it was a little strange that Jiang Huan's car had broken into at such an odd time in the morning; but she put the thought to the back of her mind.

Li Xiuying offered: "Day off?"

Jiang Huan adamantly said: "No I'm fine. The police are now looking for the teenagers; the witness gave a very detailed description of the perpetrators. I've also had my car towed to the garage. I must be really unlucky that it was just my car that was broken in to, I didn't even have anything valuable inside it." Jiang Huan sighed. Life always hits you when you least expect it.

Li Xiuying: "1 hour lunch." Her tone left no room for negotiation.

Li Xiuying turned her attention back to the operation.

Jiang Huan: "Thank you. I'll be in the office after I've finished the hour." She was grateful to have such an understanding employer.

Qin Enterprises

Elder Qin and Qin Song were in an elevator, heading up to Qin Song's office.

Elder Qin was staring daggers at his son, who had been tight lipped since they had left the hospital.

Qin Song didn't look at his father; he kept staring at the elevator doors in front of him. He would never tell his father what had happened with Li Xiuying. How could he possibly tell his father that Li Xiuying had repeatedly rejected his requests?

He was the CEO of a major conglomerate, a successful business man with dashing good looks, he was the man that men wanted to be and women wanted to be with. How could he possibly be rejected by a woman who was barely half his size?!

The elevator doors opened and Qin Song exited followed by an unhappy Elder Qin.

The secretary sitting at her desk immediately stood up from her seat: "Good afternoon CEO Qin, Elder Qin."

Elder Qin nodded.

Qin Song opened the door to the office and saw Huang Teng sitting on one sofa and Qin Xian Jun sitting on the sofa opposite; talking to one another.

Huang Teng turned around and saw that both Qin song and Qin Weimin had finally arrived and were making their way towards him.

He stood up and greeted them both: "Qin Weimin. Qin Song," He extended his hand towards them in turn for a hand shake.

After shaking hands, Qin Song sat next to Qin Xian Jun, whilst Elder Qin sat in the chair perpendicular to the sofas.

Huang Teng also sat down. Huang Teng was from the same generation as Elder Qin. He was a man who took care of his appearance. Although he had a full head of grey hair it was styled immaculately. He wore a custom made black suit with a white shirt and paired it with a pair of black shoes. There was a diamond encrusted Swiss watch on his wrist and he also worse diamond cufflinks.

Qin Song spoke in a cold but respectful tone: "Elder Huang, to what do we owe the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e of your company?"

Huang Teng: "I'm sorry that I've come unannounced. I have an important matter that I have to discuss with you that couldn't wait. It's regarding my grandson." Although he had apologized, his voice did not contain an ounce of sincerity.

Elder Qin thought for a moment: "I don't believe my family have had any interactions with your grandson."

Huang Teng: "It's to do with Unity hospital or more specifically Dr. Li Xiuying who is currently working at your hospital."

Qin Song didn't even realise that his gaze had turned predatory the moment he had heard Huang Teng mention Li Xiuying's name.

Qin Song said with a hint of hostility: "What about Dr. Li?"

Huang Teng: "Well you see my grandson Huang Fuhua, is scheduled to have a kidney transplant this Thursday. Dr. Li was meant to be one of the operating surgeons. I had initially arranged everything with Dr. Li's uncle Li Wang. Li Wang informed me that Dr. Li was currently at Unity hospital. I was hoping to speak to Dr. Li and ask her to confirm the details of the operation."

Elder Qin: "Why did you not go directly to Dr. Li?"

Huang Teng confidently said: "Well I've heard that Dr. Li has a contract with Unity hospital. Prior to her working for you, Li Wang had assured us that Dr. Li would be willing to perform the surgery free of charge. Dr Li was meant to sign the contract last week Tuesday, but I never heard from her. I was hoping that WE could come to some sort of arrangement." He put particular emphasis on the we.

The Qin's: "..."

All three of the Qin men had looks of utter disbelief on their faces.
