Granting You A Second Life

Li Xiuying quirked an eyebrow. It's finally time to break Li Yu Yan's facade.

Li Xiuying: "Big Sister, I think you and Chen Wei are perfect for one another. How could I expect you to separate from him after sharing years of affection just because of something small like my engagement? My existence has never hindered either of you before so don't let it stop you from expressing your love now. Oh and since you two are now engaged could you tell him to stop contacting me? I don't think it's appropriate for me to get close to my sister's future husband."

In actuality Chen Wei hadn't contacted Li Xiuying but Li Yu Yan didn't need to know that.

Li Yu Yan clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. She may not want Chen Wei but she hated being second best to Li Xiuying. She was nobody's second choice!

Li Xiuying: "We should stop talking about things of such little importance. Instead we should talk about your future. Regarding your admission into the accelerated programme at Northwest University I'm afraid you've been rejected."

Li Yu Yan felt like an explosion went off inside her mind. She never imagined that she would be rejected. She had told everyone she knew that she was going to be attending the best medical school in the country. How would she face everyone now? She would never be able to show her face in high society again!

Li Yu Yan stared at Li Xiuying.

Li Xiuying had a subtle smile on her lips.

Li Yu Yan finally concluded this was all due to Li Xiuying! There were various questions swirling around in her mind: How evil was this person before her? How could she forget their family ties? How could she just discard her sister in such a way?

Li Yu Yan's mask broke. Gone was the gentle white lotus flower in its place was a raging sinister venous fly trap.

Li Yu Yan took rapid breaths, tears streamed down her face in anger. You could see the whites of her knuckles as she clenched her fists so hard her nails almost drew blood from her palms.

Li Yu Yan shouted: "You evil B****h!!! How could you do this to me? I just asked you one favor! One small favor that wouldn't be detrimental to you in any way! I asked you to perform one total knee replacement for director Zhang but you couldn't even do that could you?! Are you even human?! Have you forgotten the years of care and sincerity I've shown you? Have you forgotten that my family took you in when no one else wanted you? Everyone else couldn't even stand the sight of you. You're just a lowly unwanted orphan! A waste of a human! I'm ashamed to share DNA with such a lowly human being such as you!!! You wretch!"

The two elders were shocked by Li Yu Yan's sudden transformation.

Li Yu Yan pointed at Li Xiuying: "You dirty s.l.u.t! You couldn't even spare a measly two hours to perform a surgery. You could have performed the surgery with your eyes closed if you wanted! What were you doing instead? Maybe Na is right about you; you were too busy developing your skills as a whore. A sleazy p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e. All those nights you said you were working at the hospital you were probably working on your libido!"

Li Yu Yan took ragged breaths in and out. Both her arms were at her sides as she struggled to control her fury. Her face was red from all her screaming. She was shaking as adrenaline coursed through her veins. She wanted to tear Li Xiuying's head off and drink her blood.

Li Xiuying stood up from her chair.

Li Xiuying maintained her indifferent tone: "Big Sister I didn't know that this was what you truly thought about me. It saddens me that you're so delusional and misguided. Don't worry your little sister will help you step on to the path of clarity. Your definition of one favor is clearly the 'one favor' you ask at the time. I have never rejected the myriad of requests you've asked of me since I came to live with your family. In fact I worked myself to death to fulfil the ever growing list of wishes you have. I've operated on numerous people from high society just so you can add contacts to your phone book."

Li Xiuying took a step towards Li Yu Yan. She emitted an indomitable pressure.

Li Xiuying: "You're family only took me in because of the inheritance my parents left. They received a substantial sum for every year that I lived with you. Considering I only had about 5 outfits and my diet consisted of protein bars and bottles of water I don't know where all the money was spent? Perhaps you and your designer clothes, luxury cars and exclusive jewellery know where all the money went hmm?"

Li Xiuying took another step towards Li Yu Yan.

Li Xiuying: "I've been giving my salary to your family since I started working and I've never uttered a word of complaint. You want to question my integrity? You want to call me a p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e when the one selling their morals is you and your family. You are the ones selling my surgical skills to the highest bidder whilst only feeding me scraps when you want to."

Li Xiuying emitted even more pressure. The room temperature lowered several degrees. Everyone in the room could feel an invisible weight pressing down on them.

Li Xiuying face remained expressionless but her words contained toxic venom: "Oh my dearest big sister I will repay you for all the years of sincerity and love you've graced upon me."

Li Xiuying took another step towards Li Yu Yan and stared into her eyes.

Li Yu Yan's rage deflated like a balloon. As she stared into Li Xiuying's eyes she felt her soul quiver. Li Yu Yan felt a cold and icy sensation spread through her completely numbing her and trying to suffocate her from the inside.

Li Xiuying smiled at Li Yu Yan. She stopped emitting her oppressive aura and returned to her seat.

Li Na who was standing limply at the side was horrified. She couldn't believe Li Xiuying could be so frightening.

Li Xiuying: "Oh I've been so rude. How could I forget to introduce the two respected elders? Director Zhang, Elder Huang these two women are my beloved cousins. This is Li Yu Yan and the one standing in her shadow is Li Na." She indicated to Li Yu Yan and Li Na in turn.

Li Yu Yan and Li Na paled once again. They felt their hearts drop to their feet.

Li Xiuying: "Big sister, in your haste earlier you had interrupted me before I finished. Regarding your admission into the accelerated programme at Northwest University I'm afraid you've been rejected. However you've been admitted to their normal medical programme congratulations. Director Zhang is here today because he wanted to witness the happiness of a student who had been accepted."

Director Zhang took off the mask on his face: "Dr. Li thank you for giving me quite the experience." He couldn't even look at Li Yu Yan because he was so disgusted by her.

Li Yu Yan didn't know what to do. She stared at director Zhang.

Li Yu Yan struggled to form a sentence: "Director Zhang I, I, I"

Director Zhang: "No need to talk Miss. Li I think you've said enough don't you? This is your letter of admission." He took an envelope out from his inner blazer pocket and placed it on the table next to the snacks.

Li Xiuying: "Li Na stop being so inconspicuous. Elder Huang is the CEO of World bank. He wanted to personally meet you today. Apparently Uncle had been in discussions with Elder Huang about your marriage to his grandson."

Li Na stepped forward reluctantly. She looked down at her shoes in shame and embarrassment. Her ears were red. She had hives all over her neck and c.h.e.s.t.

Elder Huang: "Although, Li Wang and I have cut off ties I didn't want to make snap judgements about someone just because they shared the same genes. We can't choose our family after all and besides you also share the same DNA as the highly respected Dr. Li. However on seeing your behavior today there is no doubt in my mind that you are truly Li Wang's niece."

What elder Huang said was only partially true. He would have given Li Na a chance but she would have to work 1000 times harder than anyone else to get into his good graces. The major reasons he had followed Li Xiuying was to apologize for his previous behavior in hopes of appeasing the savage beast of the Qin family.

Li Xiuying: "Big Sister you should take your admissions letter and tell uncle and auntie the good news. Don't forget to take little shadow with you."

LI Yu Yan clumsily walked towards the table and picked up the white envelope. She left the room with Li Na following behind her. They were both numb and didn't utter a single word as they went to find their mother's.

Li Xiuying picked up her cup of tea and sipped it. She had a small smile on her face as she watched Li Yu Yan and Li Na stumble away. She thought to herself 'the rest is yet to follow.'
