Granting You A Second Life

Ren Daiyu: "Maybe we should just end tonight now? Mr Chong I think we both can agree that we aren't compatible in the slightest. So there is no need to prolong this torture. I only came because of my father's insistence. I hope both of you enjoy the rest of your evening. YingYing let's go."

Ren Daiyu and Li Xiuying both stood up to leave.

Ren Daiyu called over a waitress: "We have a reservation for three booked under Li Xiuying, would you mind taking us to our table please?"

Waitress looked at both men at table 17 and looked back at the women before her: "Of course please follow me. I'll need to check which table has been reserved." She had never seen such a scene before, usually if women or men were displeased with their dates they would leave altogether.

Chong Honghui felt his rage boiling inside of him. Ren Daiyu had not only stepped on his pride, she was currently tap dancing away. He could deduce from the conversation with the waitress that this was her plan all along. He downed his drink in one go and watched as Ren Daiyu and Li Xiuying were being sat at another table.

Everyone who was in the vicinity of table 17 and had witnessed the scene started gossiping amongst themselves.

"Wow, I've never seen such a face slap before. They actually reserved another table for themselves."

"That level of rejection must hurt. I would still be trying to collect the pieces of face from the floor."

"Do you think there's something wrong with those guys?"

Chong Honghui was trying to swallow his anger.

Zhōu Shàoqiáng sighed once more as he watched Li Xiuying saunter away. He would have to find another way to get to know her.

Zhōu Shàoqiáng: "Honghui shall we leave? There's no point staying here any longer."

Chong Honghui didn't respond and continued staring at Ren Daiyu. He became angrier as he heard the whispers around him continue. He had an evil glint in his eyes as he pulled out his phone and started tapping a message.

15 minutes later there was an additionally person sat with Li Xiuying and Ren Daiyu.

Li Xiuying: "This is Yao ChangYing, she's a work colleague, friend and future farmer. This is Ren Daiyu a public prosecutor, date partner and friend." She introduced each friend in turn.

Yao ChangYing was shocked: "Xiuying that's the most you've ever said in my presence."

Ren Daiyu: "I was equally shocked earlier when YingYing said more than 5 words!"

All three women started laughing and chatting away. They ordered drinks and food that they actually wanted.

The night progressed smoothly. Ren Daiyu and Yao Changying got along like a house on fire. They were just about to enjoy the deserts before them when a woman and two men stopped by their table.

All three women looked up. It was Chong Honghui, Zhōu Shàoqiáng and an angry young woman.

Young woman sharply said: "You s.l.u.t! How dare you try and seduce my Honghui?! And just because he rejected you, you tried to humiliate and embarrass him do you have no shame?!"

Ren Daiyu snickered: "Is that what Mr. Chong told you? Listen you can have him. I've never been interested in him nor will I ever be. Could you please leave, this is a respectable establishment not a market where you can scream and shout as you please."

Ren Daiyu looked back at her desert and started eating as if there weren't people giving her murderous looks. She wasn't going to be intimidated by some 18 year old when she hard stared down actually murderers.

The young woman flicked her hair and patronizingly said: "You think you can just pretend to act as if you don't care now? Who are you trying to fool? As if we don't know you're man hungry."

Chong Honghui: "HuaHua calm down, there's no need for you to get angry over someone so insignificant." He took p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in throwing back the words that Ren Daiyu had said to him earlier.

Jia Kuai Hua: "Baby you're too kind. How can I let these old witches get away with what they've said and done to you?"

Li Xiuying spoke sharply: "Go perform your play somewhere else."

Ren Daiyu: "Listen. I am not interested in either of you. Why don't you go home? Isn't it past your bed time or something? Mr Chong can you and the child you robbed from the cradle please leave us in peace? "

Jia Kuai Hua: "You're just jealous that I'm just 19 whereas you're an old, withered used up spinster. You're probably envious of my relationship with Honghui gege. It's not my fault that you ended up giving the best years of your youth to someone who didn't love you."

Yao Changying: "That's enough." Both Yao Changying and Li Xiuying stood up.

Jia Kuai Hua: "Oh I'm so scared I'm shivering. What are you the old spinster sisters? Stay out of other people's business, you're both so old and you don't even know basic etiquette. Tut tut."

Chong Honghui blocked Li Xiuying's and Yao Changying's path. Additionally, Zhōu Shàoqiáng also became an unwilling member of the blockade.

Jia Kuai Hua looked around the restaurant and sneered: "I'm sure everyone already knows about your past. We've all heard the stories of how Dai Sying used you and then kicked you to the curb. You're just a broken old shoe. He was with your best friend Jin Ah Lam for years. Oh did you know that they're currently engaged? Their friends and family are so happy for them. No one even remembers you, you're not worthy of a second thought. Maybe you were actually the other woman who got in the way of true love. Tut tut. Now you're all alone, no friends and I'm sure you're family are sick of you as well. Oh I forgot to mention you're also stupid, Dai Sying and Jin Ah Lam were together for years right under your nose, probably even in your house." She deliberately gave as much detail as possible so everyone around them would be aware of Ren Daiyu's past.

Ren Daiyu became quiet; Jia Kuai Hua words kept stabbing at her insecurities.

Jia Kuai Hua laughed: "You're a lawyer? Who would hire such a stupid lawyer? Hahah. Everyone knew but you. Even outsiders knew but it took you so long to figure it out. Hahaha."

Chong Honghui finally felt somewhat satisfied as he saw Ren Daiyu in pain.

Li Xiuying finally got passed Chong Honghui. He tried to grab at her wrist but she evaded and stood in front of Ren Daiyu causing Jia Kuai Hua to take a step back.

Li Xiuying smiled menacingly at the young girl before her. This vapid imbecile and her two moronic road blocks thought that they could insult her friend! She was going to tear these people in to shreds. She was just about to speak when a figure was by her side.

Xǔ Junjie was slightly startled on seeing Li Xiuying's venomous look.

Xǔ Junjie: "Chong Honghui and Jia Kuai Hua you've both spewed enough garbage. Why would my girlfriend be interested in some arrogant little boy who got to where he is by riding his father's coattails? She has a real man by her side that has 20/20 vision and can distinguish an uncut diamond from a... "He looked at Jia Kuai Hua up and down.

Xǔ Junjie continued: "Broken shard of glass."

Xǔ Junjie reached out for Ren Daiyu's elbow encouraging her to stand. Li Xiuying moved slightly to allow Ren Daiyu to stand comfortably. Ren Daiyu looked at Xǔ Junjie in confusion. Xǔ Junjie took this opportunity to put his hand on her waist and bring her to his side. He gently whispered in her ear: "Did you want your friends to be involved in this trouble?"

Ren Daiyu shook her head. She didn't want Li Xiuying and Yao Changying to be involved with the mess that she had caused. She had just gotten to know them and didn't want to risk scaring them away.

Chong Honghui: "Who the hell are you? Why are you even getting involved? Clearly you went to a quack for your eye test if you think Ren Daiyu is worth anything. She isn't even equivalent to a single hair on Huahua's head."

Jia Kuai Hua gave a condescending look to Xǔ Junjie and Ren Daiyu.

Xǔ Junjie: "I think it's best if you don't compare my woman to your little girl. It's making me nauseous."

Yao Changying snickered by Li Xiuying's side.

Chong Honghui: "Don't misplace your jealousy just because you're with an old decrepit..."

Xǔ Junjie cut him off: "Oh Miss Jia Kuai Hua. I just recalled an interesting story and the character just so happens to be also called Jia Kuai Hua. Isn't that such a coincidence?"
