~ Chapter 31 ~

Breaking down the wall Carlos had built around himself was quite easier than what I was expecting.

“What do you want to eat?”

“I’m not sure, uhm, meat?”

“That’s good. I know a good restaurant nearby. Let’s go there.”

There was only a fixed answer in my mind now. It’s not to push him away again. Even a slight from me made him overly concerned, it was as if he was a different person when he was with me.

Yay. Meat. When I saw grilled skewers sold at nearby stalls, I felt lucky that it was my answer to him.

“How long does it take from here?”

“It wouldn’t take long.”

“Oh, that’s a relief. Let’s hurry up and go.”

I think I was going to faint due to starvation.

As she nodded in a positive manner, Carlos smiled and led her with her hand in his grip gently.

It was smooth and later on, he asked a question.

“Can I hold your hand?”

“… You’re already holding it and now you’re asking me?”

I bewilderedly asked him, and gazed down to our fingers that were intertwined tightly. Why did he have to ask me when he was already holding it? That was a bit hilarious.

It wasn’t long before Carlos’ mouth smiled like a child.

“Just because. So that you won’t shake it off even if I hold it first before your permission.”

“The probability of me shaking off your hand from mine?”

“It’s a relief that it didn’t happen. Because actually, I never thought of that possibility.”

“Heo…”

“Nevertheless, it felt nice because you allowed it. Thank you.”

Look at how shameless he was.

The thing is, why did the storyline flow like this? Mostly the conversation would be initiated by Carlos. I said that I’d do it because there was no other option anyway.

I simply wanted to catch him, and I really did catch him.

When I was at a loss of words to say and just looked at him, even his eyes were bent exactly as half-moon.

“You should hurry up. You must be really hungry.”

…. Even his expression was captivating!

His changes that I didn’t know were possible, turned out great. Because I could see his genuine emotions revealed under the sunlight above us.

Additionally, his ears were slightly red. Seeing it made me almost stumble.

“…!”

“Be careful.”

Fortunately, Carlos caught me just like earlier.

Despite the support, her eyes turned to his face.

“Th, thank you.”

“Unintentionally, I feel like I would be your savior continuously. What would you have done if I wasn’t here?”

“Uh, uhm. I don’t know…”

I awkwardly arced up my lips.

What do you mean…? What do you mean what would I have done if you weren’t here? … Hey, I also saved you several times!

It was only because I’m hiding my abilities! If my grades are properly set, then he wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

But that’s why Carlos could treat me like a vulnerable person in this situation.

But I focused on his face rather than these facts.

Whether or not Carlos worried about me, who almost fell on the ground, I was just amazed by the sight in front of me.

‘So you know how to express that kind of feeling, too.’

Probably because it was the first time for me to be this close to him, but I found myself staring at him, who was smiling beautifully.

It was a smile that matched the expression of his brightness.

Why do I feel like he keeps getting softer and softer while he’s with me…?

“Is there a problem?”

“…No.”

When I shook my head, saying it was nothing, I felt an inexplicable feeling. It was because of the word guilt.

I was absolutely mean to some who liked me truthfully.

Thinking back, I felt sorry that I didn’t acknowledge his feelings sooner and kept pushing him away.

Of course, I deeply understand the fact that I should have avoided the Male Protagonist, mainly because of the ‘Death of Rose Lutyens’ in the novel.

Moreover, I despised that I had to sacrifice my life in the novel for the country, as a rare talent that I never desire, and left a luxurious life.

Until a week ago, I was just waiting for my resignation with mixed feelings.

It was something I knew but at the same time, didn’t know.

The day the original novel begins.

But, currently I’m eating with the Male Lead of the novel. I felt strange.

“As far as I know, this is the best place to cook sirloin steak in the capital.”

“How do you know that?”

When I arrived at the restaurant and went to the place where I was guided, Carlos pulled out my chair first.

“My brother recommended it to me. It’s a great place to create an atmosphere.”

You must have gotten close to Sollio again.

“I know, the atmosphere here definitely feels good. The space is cozy.”

I glanced at him lightly, and agreed.

I liked the cute interior inside, with the dark orange lighting which seemed to be focusing on this person’s opportunity for me.

Above all, I liked the room-type space where we could talk comfortably.

‘Sollio, you’re the best.’

Carlos, who has no eyes to this kind of thing, wouldn’t even be able to find this place himself.

A reader like me, who had suffered the sweet potatoes while witnessing how the Male Lead dated in the novel, had no regrets anymore…

I felt overwhelmed and nodded.

Carlos, who had not yet gone to his seat, pointed at the table at an angle.

“Then you know why I’m here, right?”

“Pardon?”

“This is a cozy space, though.”

He briefly said. With his relaxed demeaning looking at me, he lowered his back.

“Even though young men and women are like this.”

“…!”

“It’s nice that no one is watching.”

It was then. The distance between the two of them narrowed quickly, and the tip of their noses touched each other.

I was surprised and stiffened like a stone, staying still on my chair. What is going on suddenly?

Carlos hasn’t kissed me yet. ‘Not yet’, is a deceiving word.

“Do you want to choose?”

“…”

“If you leave the option of disliking this, pretending that you don’t know what I’m doing, and I won’t do anything like this.”

Hey, you punk. That’s worse……!!

I swallowed my saliva. I could feel his breath as he was talking from less than a centimeter away, but won’t it touch my lips while answering?

I was left with options, but the answer was already set.

I tried to reject him as a mistake, but I just gave up when I saw his violet eyes that met my gaze–

Instead, I closed my eyes gently. Then Carlos burst into a small laugh.

“I knew it.”

Even his breath leaning to the side came closer to me and murmured.

“I’m finally gaining confidence.”

His voice seemed to be locked afterwards. His words which ended shortly were low, and Carlos’s lips completely overlapped mine.

I could feel the sweet scent of his soft upper lip. It was a scent I had never smelled before.

It was a short moment, but I felt warm and loved.

Time went by. It was hazy, and I couldn’t remember what I truly felt with my thumping heart.

I just didn’t want to end this kiss, so I put my arms around Carlos’ neck trying to continue it somehow.

“See? I told you so.”

After laughing, he looked down at me.

No one hesitated.

Our lips overlapped at the same time.
