Hi I'm Married, But I'm Sleeping With My Boss

Chapter 51 - School love affair (3)

A pair took their seat in a cafe. Hurt was welling in the males eyes behind that grin he put on. He didn't think he'd ever see her again, and he questioned if she'd come but she proved him wrong by showing up.

He looked different from usual. He had a buzz cut, a scarf tied around his neck and his coat was a little bit plus sized. As for the woman, his guest, she was looking beautiful, like before and she always will.

He didn't know where to start from. He had thousands of questions and a lot to talk about over the years they haven't communicated but she showed no excitement whatsoever.

"Thanks for coming" Meilin nodded and took a sip from her coffee cup after giving it a soft blow.

"Meilin It's been so long, how have you been? The kids too?" She didn't answer him. She didn't plan to say much because she didn't want him to get too attached to the conversation. She had different things she intended to do.

Deep down in Haru, he'd actually love to cry out his sadness and fear of being alone forever.

"Meilin over the years I attended a reform program and I've learned to change. I've learned to be a better person, a man you'll always adore. But to do that I must come clean about everything I've done. The priest said God will forgive me and that I'm a good person now" he placed his hands on hers "Please trust me."

She pulled back her hand and her face wrinkled in slight disturb "What would you like to say haru? The clock's ticking..."

"I started that fire"

Meilin's heart skipped a beat after his confession. She felt a lump in her throat, and she spaced out that minute. He knew how she'd react but he didn't want the guilt to cover up his fake happiness, something he had worked hard to portray in a way that looked a bit real.

"You...the fire...Guiren..."

"I killed Guiren" He thought that if he'd come clean of starting the fire and killing Guiren he could move on from the guilty hole he was buried in.

"Why Haru? Why??!!" She got up, grabbed her coffee cup and poured the liquid all over him. He hissed to the burns he got from it, and he moved his eyes shifted then became glasses with a glassy layer of tears.

"I hate you so much Haru. I wish you were caught and sentenced to jail. It hurt right? It burned right? but the pain can never sum up to what Guiren faced trying to save me" Meilin walked out leaving Haru behind with waiter's running to his aid after they all watched the drama that happened.

They asked him questions but he remained mute. His coat was stained and he was wet, it still hurt and the exposed skin that got scalded reddened.

He didn't understand why she didn't do what the priest had told him. 'When a sinner is forgiven, the people forgive him too.' His heart ached, he regretted hurting people. He regretted the fire he caused, the lives it took and the man he suffocated.

He didn't have the right to be called human because he had caused terrible damage to the people that lost important relatives because of him. His little girls probably won't acknowledge him too as a result of the things he had done. They'd be disappointed and ashamed. they wouldn't be proud of the killer dad they had.

Meilin was driving at top speed, her emotions were taking over her actions and her head was full of thoughts. The man she loved turned out to be a dangerous person and she never assumed he'd be the cause of the fire.

She blamed herself, it really was her fault for getting Guiren involved with her. He knew the fire was threat level but he still went in to save her.

She parked her car at the beach and got out. Her eyes fluttered close as she breathed in the breeze and murmured to herself. She'd learned over the years to stop by the beach whenever she had troubles or her she had to cool her mind down.

She'd dig her toes into the sand that had a soft tint of gold. She'd feel the fizzling water l.a.p around her feet and shiver by the unexpected touch.

Her eyes moved from sand to stones and the shrouded seashells. She bestowed her gaze to the far off horizon, the flaring tints of the sun liquefying into the sky and sea like a divine painting.

She was able to calm down after the tranquil walk on the shore. She was right on time for her business meeting and more started coming up. The business schedule once again clashed with dinner she planned with her kids and Mr Liwei.

She sent a text to Mr Fu, they had to have dinner without her again. Back at home the twins stared at their food not minding if it gets cold. They'd only eat if their mom comes home, Mr Fu said she would. They didn't want to hear anything else.

The elder didn't know what he should tell them. They'd been waiting for their mother for almost two hours. He didn't want them to have their hopes of being together shatter.

The door bell rang and he ran to answer. There was zero to no possibility of it being Meilin because his boss would never ring the doorbell when she had the key.

"Hello I'm Mr Li wei"

"Oh the guest. Madam told me about you. Do come in. We'll treat you with great care" He made way for the man as soon a she introduced himself.

He had flowers in his hand as a gift for Meilin, appreciating her invitation. Mr Li wei was led to the dinning hall but it was empty, only two plates of food cold and untouched.

"Apologies sir, Madam is busy but she said you should have dinner without her" Li wei was slightly disappointed but he should've expected such from her.

"What about the kids?"

"probably sleeping."

"They don't see their mum daily right?"

Mr Fu nodded "Sadly it's true. Madam works hard for her kids but has little or no time to spend with them."

"Can I go see them?"

Mr Fu thought for a while before he finally gave him consent. He led him to the girl's bedroom, where they were crying under their blankets.

"I need to talk to them. Give me five minutes and I'll make them eat dinner" he closed the door and tiptoed to the seat close to the small bed.

He picked up a Teddy on the floor then cleared his throat to mimic his favorite cartoon character. "Hey little girl, why are you crying?"

"Who are you?" Li Hua wasn't going to reveal herself because she was afraid it was a monster talking to her.

"Don't be afraid I'm Mr teddy. I'm here to make you happy" Li hua peeped and saw the principal waving the teddy around "I'm here to be your Superman" He moved over to the other girl and made her sit up.

"Why're you crying angel?" He sat li hua in his l.a.p and pat li Na's back. "Mummy didn't come. She never does"

"But mummy is busy. Mummy Is working hard to make you both happy. Don't worry, She'll take you out on a very very fun trip."

The girl's didn't say anything. They were still in doubt but that's what he came to clear up, and fill them up with rays of hope.

"Mummy would love if you come eat dinner won't she?" The girl's nodded and followed him to the dinning room. He sat them down and fed them both, got them into a conversation and told them stories about his child hood.

They were captivated by all his stories. It made them laugh a lot and think about the lessons from it too.

After homework, he carried Li hua in his arms and Li na followed him to their room. He tucked in Li hua who was already fast asleep and he remained with Li Na for some time.

"The older kids are wrong about you Mr Li wei, you're a very good man" The girl said and he placed a kiss on her forehead "And you're a sweet girl too dear." The child yawned and turned over to her side "Goodnight Mr Li Wei" he smiled softly as he headed out of the door.

He glanced at the wall clock and it read eleven on the dot. He was about to leave when he bumped into a figure. She lost balance but he quickly got hold of her in time. "Miss Zhao," he called her name before she suddenly passed out in his arms.
