So I decided to remain in the capital. Since the highest form of demons only appeared around the capital, it was an inevitable decision.

What caught me off guard was Vincent’s choice to remain beside me.

“I loathed Ace, not weapon research.”

Vincent murmured.

“If you keep hunting down demons, I want to offer you my gun. since you’ll be rich.”

All the jewels from the demons I will be slaying will be mine. Having said that, it wasn’t a big deal for Vincent to stick by my side.

“Stable experiments and supply. Apart from that, you…”

Vincent gave me a quick once-over, from head to toe, before he sighed and shake his head.

I had no doubts about Vincent’s guilt because I was totally aware of my value.

“Oh, yes?”

Zion, who’d been listening to me talk to Vincent, grinned merrily and appeared to be having fun.

“So should I put off travelling to the South? I need to inspect what you’re doing. I’ll make each of your IDs individually and then find you a house.”

And all the while, Zion didn’t forget to wink at several of the women who’d been whistling at him. I decided to ask Vincent in a low voice because I was interested in how people communicated.

“Initially, you must wink when someone whistle at you? But before that, why are they whistling?”

“Well…”

Vincent gave Zion a pathetic look as he explained as calmly as he could.”

“The whistle is because Zion is good looking, and thus the reason Zion winks is only because such an individual is a flirt.”

“… What exactly is a flirt?”

Zion then went back to our previous discussion after winking at each of the women. Zion proceeded with a serious expression.

“It would be better to construct a pretty home in a location with a stunning view. Since you’ve only ever seen bad things, I’ll only put pretty and good things in your home.”

“Ahh.”

I felt moved in my own unique way and gulped down some parched saliva. Zion continued, shaking his silver hair’s curls.

“As well as me.”

It took me a while to comprehend the joke regarding Zion ultimately being a part of “pretty and good things.”

“You need to become accustomed to such words if you spend time with this person.”

Vincent said while shrugging his shoulders.

“Uh….Well…”

“And call that person a playboy.”

I can’t pinpoint what it is, but I was certain that Zion was a strange person after all. Without even noticing it, I started laughing out loud.

I killed a medium-level demon the following night. The very first jewel that ‘Blue Ruby’ picked up for the first time throughout her life was a blue sapphire.

With the sapphire, we decided to share a decent two-story home on the outskirts of the capital. Then after, no dark times preceded.

My approach was simple and ignorant. In actuality, it was identical to Lardin’s plan. I suppose I could one day encounter the highest level of demons if I encountered as many of them as I could.

So I started going on midnight demon hunts. Vincent would take care of the jewels when I gave them to him. He would explore various weapons in his free time and present them to me.

Zion was constantly engaged in something, but he was extremely helpful to me. In case I was caught, he even advised me to carry my gun concealed in crutches, and even crafted a life story to go along with it. I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse, that I’m pitiful and innocent-looking, so a tale that can make people feel bad for me fits amazingly well.

In other words, ‘Blue Ruby’ continued to operatealthough ‘Ace’ was eliminated by a massive explosion. Additionally, it meant Johannes Noavik was still pursuing me.

Immediately following the breakup of “Ace,” Johannes experienced several events.

“Johannes was instructed by Prince Diego to wed a non-Northern woman. Johannes then set the bride’s requirement. …  Oh, did he just create it so that nobody would agree?”

Such rumours were typically brought by Zion. I soon discovered that the marriage debate was over when Johannes didn’t even seem to want a relationship.

After a while, another Johannes-related rumour surfaced.

“Did you hear that? Leo Noavik in the Noavik Duchy is dead. Johannes must have harbored a deep love for his son. The princess of Ementa allegedly proposed to him during the funeral, and the duke kicked her out right away. I was informed that the princess was simply anticipating the arrival of the Duke at the North.”

“Leo Noavik? The…. illegitimate son of Johannes?”

Vincent inquired with a frown. When Johannes returned from the war in the north at the age of 20, he reportedly brought his son with him.

Everyone was forced to acknowledge the illegitimate child because he resembled Johannes Noavik as a child and had dark hair and golden eyes.

“Uhh… He was killed by a demon.”

“It is peculiar. There is no way the northerners could not have adequately protected Noavik’s child if it were a demon.”

Zion responded with a shrug after Vincent made his point.

“Initially, the demons did not show up at once, therefore that must have put their minds at ease. However, it was alleged that it continued to surround and attack Leo Noavik. It’s an odd thing.”

It was undoubtedly strange, but nobody in the far north of the empire was likely to be particularly interested in it. Vincent said with a frown.

Will he give up looking for the “Blue Ruby” now that his son is gone out of grief?

However, that assumption is wholly incorrect. Soon after Leo’s funeral in the north, Johannes went to the capital. Given that the “Blue Ruby” is only active around the capital, it is obvious that this was a tracking-only venture.

“Wow, are you really going to pursue so ferociously?”

Even Zion, who generally doesn’t bat an eye, clucked his tongue in response to Johannes’ tenacity.

“Do you owe him anything, Eloise? Or did you seduce him and make him a promise of freedom from love? The latter scenario is more plausible, given the North’s wealth.”

I cast a pitiful glare at Zion. He sighed and replied.

“I’ll be happy to leave if you want to run away from love. But at this point, instead of for you, it appears that he has a terrible unrequited love for the temple. Otherwise, I’m at a loss to understand why he’s so eager to find Blue Ruby”

And just like that, ten months passed.

The pain in my heart grew worse and worse over the course of the ten months. Now, t he pain stings several times per hour.

I made a concerted effort to hunt down demons in the meantime. But I was unable to encounter greatest demons.

In actuality, it was similar to unearthing a needle in the sand at the shore. Even superlative demons only occasionally and briefly appear, and it is completely unknown when or where the demons will emerge.

The likelihood of catching a top-tier demon in less than a year that I’d not caught in years I resided in “Ace” was vague from the start.

However, neither Johannes, who was after me, nor I, who was after the most extreme demons, gained anything from the passing of time.

If I continue in this manner, Johannes will definitely catch me before I could manage to capture the most powerful demon.

Every time I lost Johannes by a hair, ten months after escaping “Ace,” I thought about it. I had no chance of escaping Johannes Noavik’s tracking network on my own until the very end.

However, in my opinion, I was unable to stop as there wasn’t much time left.

I also nearly got caught by Johannes on the day Vincent made and gave me the pistol he had been researching for a long time because he claimed it would be more convenient to carry than a long gun.

(T/N: Refer back to Chapter 1)

“There is no else around. If the ‘Blue Ruby’ didn’t rise to the sky or be buried to the ground, it would probably be one of these people.”

I struck the demon far closer than usual and got caught in the Noavik Knights’ tracking net. I might have actually been caught if it weren’t for the Zion’s script and the crutches he had put together beforehand.

“Wait a minute.. stop.”

Fortunately, I was the first to be released because I had no weapons, but when Johannes was holding me like that, I felt as though my heart might burst.

This was also the first time I had actually seen his face even though I had been pursued for such a long time. I was fortunate because Ace has been collecting jewels for a very long time, so I didn’t need to go close to the site, and I recently just begun collecting jewels as well.

But he was the one who always made me nervous. He had a much more handsome face than what I had seen from afar. But unlike many women who like Zion, it didn’t seem as if he could wink or whistle. He attracted attention, but it was an overwhelming influence to opponents.

As you can see, the intimidation-related feeling is blind. It might only be one hit. The line is currently extremely twisted as well. Johannes knelt in front of Eloise when her violent imagination erupted to its worst.

“…You can’t tie a bandage roughly like this.”

Despite my best efforts, my legs began to tremble. In addition to having a low voice that could be heard, he had amazing hand gestures that were respectful and courteous.

I felt a little bit unjust at the time. It was because I felt with my body that the man I hated so brutally and so endlessly was indeed a fairly decent individual towards other people who weren’t Blue Ruby.

“I appreciate your cooperation. I’m sorry for causing damage to civilians. I hope you understand.”

Contrary to what he might have expected, Johannes surprised me by being really courteous. Along with being anxious and aloof, I was also sad in some way. His attitude would have been quite different if he had known who I was.

‘Why the hell does he live as a temple dog after already being born so admirably?…  Should I do anything to help?’ ‘

That same day, I entered the capital alone and carrying a forged ID and muttered in a shabby inn. It gave me an odd feeling of pity.

I didn’t harm him in any way. No, I didn’t harm anyone.

My fault was really only decided by the temple. And he honours the order of the temple excessively, which is why he pursues me so relentlessly. After seeing him in person, I was more upset than outraged about that fact.

‘Temple dog…”

I murmured, remembering Johannes once more as a former Ace member. Only if I criticized him like that did I feel like I could start to resent him again.

But I was also aware of it. I will eventually be caught if I persist in acting alone in this manner. All I wanted was for that moment to arrive as late as possible.

My 25th birthday was 10 months after I managed to get away from Ace.
