36 – Let’s Eat (2)

Before executing my “plan,” I pondered over my “plan” once again.

What is my goal? To remove Godmilla from the position of the Court Tutor.

Why? Firstly, because I insulted my teacher, Nirserra, who is Godmilla.

Secondly, because if things continue this way, the future of the royal family will become bleak due to Godmilla.

At the moment, I am suppressing the princes and princesses from engaging in strange actions through the “education” carried out under Godmilla’s abuse. However, with time, when the princes and princesses grow bolder, Godmilla’s “education” will no longer be able to restrain them.

Look at Christopher, who turned 19 this year. Isn’t he always contemplating ways to kill Godmilla? Even if I hadn’t intervened this time, I believe Christopher would have conspired with his siblings to overthrow Godmilla when he reaches around 25 years old. After all, Godmilla’s “education” was always on borrowed time.

Moreover, until Godmilla is removed, the princes who suffered from his abuse will inevitably undergo a transformation into darkness (although about 80% seems to have been completed already). Can Yurmania, led by such princes, truly have a future?

Let me share a story from a previous life: The Prince Apostle, famous for stockpiling rice instead of consuming it, was originally an intelligent and bright child to the extent that even his own father, whom he loathed the most, recognized him. However, that child transformed into a deranged psycho killer who slaughtered the surrounding courtiers and palace maids due to his father’s relentless rotations of abuse. And the princes and princesses? Can you even imagine?

Being constantly beaten at the age when one’s sense of self is forming is an unethical act. Not to mention the mental illnesses acquired during the process of enduring Godmilla’s abuse. Can Yurmania, led by such princes, have any hope?

Particularly, Christopher and William, who killed their teachers since childhood, will surely inflict outrageous tyranny even on King Richard himself when he becomes an old fool in the backroom. Aren’t they massacring noble people just because they don’t listen to them?

As a mere viscount, it will not be impossible for me to survive in such Yurmania… but I will probably have to endure difficult times. Of course, it’s fine now since my great-grandfather, Duke Hayden, is still alive, but the problem is, even if the Duke lives longer, he can’t last more than 20 years. And that 20 years later will be the peak of these princes’ power.

Furthermore, I must add that, in my opinion, Godmilla’s biggest mistake was not only abusing Christopher and William but also subjecting the other princes and princesses to similar abuse.

Bruce and Michael, the third and fourth sons, have far less wickedness compared to Christopher and William. In the first place, even the incident of the court tutor massacre was done by Christopher and William acting together. Not to mention the princess.

Of course, considering the circumstances, it is true that Bruce and Michael are not “good people” either, given their behavior. Anyway, they are simply about the level of troublesome high-ranking nobles, not as insane psycho killers as Christopher and William.

However, the fact that Bruce and Michael are now collaborating with their brothers, instead of distancing themselves or having a bad relationship due to their brothers’ atrocities, indicates that Godmilla’s abuse has gone too far.

From Bruce and Michael’s perspective, since it was because of their brothers’ court tutor massacre that Godmilla became the court tutor, they should fight each other, blaming each other for the responsibility of allowing Godmilla to become the court tutor in the first place.

If I recall the time when the four princes gathered for the mock execution of Godmilla, they were extremely friendly and affectionate with each other. It seems that until Godmilla’s halfway demise, they completely adored him without any reservations. They went on to despise Godmilla himself more than the brothers who called for Godmilla. It’s quite pitiful, really.

Princess Celenor, despite not explicitly expressing her desire to kill or eliminate Godmilla, presents another worry, according to the words of Doris, her personal maid. But that’s another concern altogether.

Even though it appears that there are no major problems when Godmilla is absent, given this level of situation, it’s apparent that the core has already rotted. I can’t say for sure what will happen in the future.

If Godmilla had concentrated only on Christopher and William, I wouldn’t have attempted to directly remove him. On the contrary, I would

“I can’t just go around killing princes. Even if they are just dukes… no, not even dukes. There is no point to filming Season 2 of Westburn, anyway. So, I decided to eliminate the fundamental cause of the princes’ misconduct. Namely, restoring their relationship with their parents.” “It may look like the Urmagnian royal family is a very peaceful household as long as there’s no ‘impurity’ like Godmila messing it up. The father loves the children, and the children love him. But that’s not the reality. The father doesn’t believe his children could’ve been raised by tutors in the royal palace, so he is suspicious of them. The children demand much more from themselves than they are capable of, and if they fail, it causes injustice and a sense of betrayal toward their own father.” “As I mentioned before, the incident with Christopher and William’s tutor was not about these two princes simply being crazy murderers, but about them staging a kind of ‘protest’ to show their father they were suffering, a notice of our efforts.” “But instead of recognizing this hidden meaning behind their ‘protest’, Richard became shocked by his children’s deathly deeds and began to distrust them. And in the midst of all of this, when Godmila, who was untouchable, appeared, Richard gave her full trust and authority.” “So, if, conversely, the kings recognize the pain and effort their kids have put into their accomplishments, there will be no more reasons for them to resort to wicked deeds as Richard would gain confidence that they won’t engage in wicked deeds any longer, and, consequently, Godmila would be unnecessary.” “Firstly, if Richard sincerely apologizes to his sons for pushing them too hard and promises not to do so in the future, Christopher and William would probably let go of their feelings towards their father and refrain from engaging in any more wrongdoings. And then, even without any hole underlying their children, the kings would probably apologize for the hardships and pain their father had to endure due to their wrongdoings, and make a promise not to do so anymore.” “Therefore, Richard would recover his belief in his children, and there would be no reason to keep Godmila, who the children dislike so intensely.” “In this way, we could peacefully eliminate Godmila without worrying about any evil acts from Christopher or William. Of course, I recognize that this plan is logically flawed and I don’t know if any unexpected situation could arise. It could be said that this plan is nothing more than a compilation of my aspirations.” “But it seems to be the only way to renew the princes’ lives while removing Godmila in a situation where we cannot just go killing the princes. Plus, I have several schemes to remove Godmila from her position as the royal tutor. It doesn’t matter if they work out well or not.” “Anyway, the main reason for me to tell you that the princes are unhappy is simply to justify this plan.” “I cannot demand, ‘Apologize to your children!’ They must understand what they have done wrong. So I set the stage for the princes to talk about their grievances and discontent toward you.” “Even if Richard doesn’t trust his children, he will want to listen to their stories about the emotional pain they’ve experienced from him. I took this action calculating as Richard loves them even though he doesn’t trust them.” “When the princes were younger, it seems they faced a lot of pressure from their father, which escalated whenever they did something.” “It’s true that I pushed them to lead exemplary lives as princes and princesses, but that’s what I did when I was young. You can’t blame them just for that kind of pressure.” The princes looked at me in surprise, then lowered their heads as they listened to the king’s next words. It was the sense of ‘I knew he was going to talk about this.’ “After all, the princes must have appealed to their father several times about their difficulties. Would you really chop off tutors’ heads just because they said it was crazy from the start? But where Richard shows strictness in such matters when it comes to their descendants, he will not budge, saying ‘I have done it before, why can’t you?'” “That’s why I’m necessary. Sometimes, we need outside analysis to understand the severity of the issue. ‘Father, do you know about Lord Hayden’s eldest son, Lord Patrick?’ ‘Yes, I know him well. He was known in the kingdom as a typical madman. I still find it hard to believe that he became the man he is today.’ ‘But do you know why your uncle, that is, Patrick, became such a madman?'”

“Well, up to that point…”

“Because the Duke felt that his uncle couldn’t do as well as he did when he was young, he placed great pressure and coercion on his uncle.”

“”””..!””””

“The Duke understood that even if his uncle were his own child, he wouldn’t be the same as him. He said that it would be a good thing if his child showed greater achievements than when he was young, but even if he couldn’t, he shouldn’t have been pressured. Because he didn’t know that at the time, he exerted severe pressure on his uncle, and regretted that his uncle left home.”

“…”

“Of course, Your Majesty, I understand why you demand ‘perfection’ from the princes and princesses. It is probably because if the princes and princesses reveal their ‘weakness’ to others, it could become a significant vulnerability for themselves and tarnish the honor of the royal family.”

“…That’s right.”

“However, as can be seen from the story of my great-grandfather and uncle, excessive pressure only leads to the children diverging from the right path. What I heard from the princes is that Your Majesty has been demanding things far beyond their capabilities since they were young.”

“…”

“And the two princes… they seemed quite… estranged, haven’t they? Isn’t that so, Your Majesty?”

“””..!”””

King Richard listened quietly and tapped his temple with his index finger. Only the princes were in a state of unrest.

After a momentary silence that felt oddly long,
