Su Chengyang didn’t linger in the yard and turned back to her own room.

The room was indeed as Xiao Lu had said, there was almost no moldy smell.

Su Chengyang used a flashlight to shine around the room, and there was lime powder in all four corners, as Xiao Lu had promised.

Su Chengyang turned on the colored lights wrapped around the wooden bed frame, and the room instantly brightened up.

Su Chengyang took out his toiletries and went outside the door to wash with the clear water from the wooden bucket. He also took a shallow sip of the water, which should be well water and tasted sweet.

After Jiang Shanqi entered the room, she tightly gripped her flashlight and felt cold sweat dripping down in the unfamiliar darkness. She remembered that Su Chengyang had said there was water outside, but she was too afraid to go out until she heard Su Chengyang’s voice faintly from outside. Then she quickly dug out her toiletries and rushed out.

When Jiang Shanqi saw Su Chengyang by the wooden bucket, she breathed a sigh of relief.

“What a coincidence.” Jiang Shanqi walked to Su Chengyang’s side with a blank expression, opened the lid of the bucket, and scooped a cup of water with a water cup.

Su Chengyang spat out the mouthwash and said, “You didn’t drink much water today. This is well water, and it tastes pretty sweet.”

“Well water?” Jiang Shanqi frowned. “Did you drink it? Aren’t you afraid of bacteria? even the water I use at home to wash my hands is sterilized.”

Su Chengyang glanced at her and said, “Don’t you know the saying, ‘Dirty water is drinkable if it’s boiled’? Besides, well water is natural water. It can clear heat, detoxify, and contains many trace elements that the human body needs. It’s good for the body.”

Jiang Shanqi looked at her with some skepticism. “Is that true?”

“Why would I lie to you?”

Jiang Shanqi looked at her and then tentatively brought the water cup to her mouth and took a sip. She found that it really had a faint sweet taste and was much better than the water at her home.

She was a little thirsty today and had been holding it in since her manager was not around. She usually only drinks water from home. So she tilted her head back and took a big gulp.

Su Chengyang asked, “How is it? Sweet?”

Jiang Shanqi nodded. “Sweet.”

Su Chengyang had just finished washing up and was preparing to return to the room when Jiang Shanqi stopped her. “Wait.”

Su Chengyang looked at her in confusion. “Do you need anything else?”

Jiang Shanqi was a bit embarrassed and didn’t look up at Su Chengyang. She said, “I want to talk to you.”

“Oh,” Su Chengyang said. “What do you want to talk about?”

“I’ll talk while brushing my teeth.”

After saying that, she squeezed out some toothpaste and soon had a mouthful of foam.

“Have you and Yang Xiu…”

Su Chengyang interrupted her, “I don’t know him well. We’ve only talked a few times off-screen.”

“Marketing account…”

“Yang Xiuyi has bought it, and he doesn’t want your senior sister, who is also his girlfriend, to be exposed. So he randomly found an excuse, and ‘luckily’ chose me.”

“My senior sister…”

“I don’t know your senior sister.”

“She said…”

“What did she say?”

Jiang Shanqi spat out the foam in her mouth and looked up at Su Chengyang, saying, “She said it’s all because of you that Yang Xiuyi has legal troubles and implicated her.”

“It’s not my fault, he brought it upon himself.”

“He gave you 500,000 yuan to keep quiet, but you still exposed this.”

“I didn’t take his money or sign any contract. I didn’t expose this, I just cleared my own name.”

Jiang Shanqi quickly wiped her face and stood up from the ground, “My senior sister was lying to me?”

Su Chengyang said indifferently, “You should have the ability to judge for yourself.”

Jiang Shanqi looked at her for a few seconds and said, “Oh.”

After speaking, she turned and walked towards her own room.

Su Chengyang thought to herself, did she ask those questions just to make me stay and accompany her while she finished washing up?

Su Chengyang stared at her back for a few seconds. When she walked to the door, Jiang Shanqi turned to look at her and asked in confusion, “What are you staring at? Not going to sleep?”

“I’m going to sleep.” Su Chengyang said helplessly and also turned to walk into her room.

Su Chengyang lifted the black cloth at the door, and a bright yellow light spilled out of the room.

“Wait.” Jiang Shanqi suddenly stopped Su Chengyang and walked towards her with big steps.

“What’s up?” Su Chengyang looked at her puzzled.

Jiang Shanqi gave her a glance and pulled open the black cloth in front of her door. “Why is there a light in your room? My room doesn’t have any!”

Su Chengyang calmly replied, “I brought it myself.”

“You brought it yourself?”

“Yeah. Songxue overheard that the program would take us to a remote location that is not like in the city. The nights there are very dark, and I can’t keep the light on all night. So I bought colored lights for illumination in advance.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shanqi pursed her lips.

Su Chengyang’s bed was covered with small colored lights, which were as bright as a regular wall lamp, not too dazzling, but could light up the entire room.

Seeing Jiang Shanqi standing at the door without moving, Su Chengyang was a bit confused and asked, “Do you have anything else?”

Jiang Shanqi turned her head to look at Su Chengyang, hesitated, and then stopped talking.

“You… still have something to say?” Su Chengyang looked puzzled.

“About the light…” Jiang Shanqi buried her head down, feeling embarrassed, and whispered, “I never turn off the lights when I sleep at home, so…”

Su Chengyang nodded in understanding, “I know, but I think you can take this opportunity to get used to it.”

After speaking, Su Chengyang turned and walked towards the bed.

Jiang Shanqi saw that she didn’t understand her meaning and hesitated for a moment. She thought of leaving directly, but then remembered her pitch-black room and ultimately did not take a step forward.

Su Chengyang walked to the bedside and turned around to find that she had not left yet. She asked, “Are you afraid to sleep alone?”

Jiang Shanqi became angry with shame, “No! Do I look like a primary school student to you?”

“Then why are you still here?”

Jiang Shanqi’s face turned red, and she muttered, “Can you give me one?”

“What?”

“Can you give me one?”

“What?”

“Can you… share one with me?”

She said the word “share” very quietly.

“No.”

“You…” Jiang Shanqi was angry. When had she ever lowered her head to anyone? Who wasn’t willing to give her whatever she wanted? Su Chengyang actually refused her!

Su Chengyang saw her reaction and couldn’t help but laugh. She turned around and took two colored lights from her own bed frame and walked up to Jiang Shanqi. “Don’t be angry, I was just joking with you.”

As she spoke, she handed the two colored lights to her.

“Each one has a switch,” Su Chengyang said.

Jiang Shanqi looked at her and paused for a moment, then slowly took the colored lights from her hand. Su Chengyang’s smile looked very gentle in the bright yellow light.

Jiang Shanqi quickly lowered her head and whispered, “Th-thank you.”

After speaking, without waiting for Su Chengyang to say anything, she ran out of her room like a bird.

Su Chengyang didn’t think too much about it. She was indeed a little tired today. She took off her shoes and lay in bed, with the brightness of the two colored lights illuminating the room, and fell asleep.
