His family (3)

Lily saw it clearly. The corners of Ingrid’s eyes twitched for a moment as if she hadn’t been able to control her own words. It was an obvious mistake and rudeness, but Ingrid had no intention of apologizing. She simply pulled her hair behind her shoulder. She truly had a royal attitude.

Lily looked at her calmly, then she lowered her eyes politely. “I’m sorry, Your Highness. As the priest said, I am not well yet. If you allow me, I would like to step back.”

The day Ivan said that the princess from the tower had to be taken out. Lily, too, was deeply in agreement with her appeal that she should not be locked up like that.

After she spoke a few words with the princess who had gotten out of the tower, she was certain. If she continued to converse with her, Ingrid was the kind of person who would have to punish her. She took a step back to prevent any disadvantages to the estate. It was wiser to just ignore each one of the provocations that were thrown like breathing, so in the end, it was better to just ignore her than to pretend.

As she bowed her head in farewell, Ingrid rolled her eyes in bewilderment.

She rested her hand on her tea table. “Wait a minute!”

Lily, as well as Ivan, looked back at Ingrid, quite surprised at the desperate cry.

“Well then, when are you coming back?” Ingrid raised her eyebrows and appealed to Lily. “Well, I’m sorry. Let’s talk a little bit more about that next time. You’re more sophisticated and beautiful than the noble ladies in the capital with your ornaments and dresses. Do you have any tips for choosing something like that?”

“…”

“That’s right. I’ve heard that your family has a jewelry business, so he must have a good eye. I’ve heard of you taking over the business and building the city. That’s pretty special, yes?” Her face seemed to be overlapping with Dandelion’s arrogant expression. When she erased her expression, her face even looked quite young.

Come to think of it, it was said that the princess was 20 years old this year. She was only one year apart from Dandelion.

She suddenly had a thought. Perhaps Ingrid was not a difficult person to deal with. She doesn’t know if it was something to be proud of, but Lily was more tolerant than anyone else in the world of those who were arrogant and ignorant.

Lily slid her the bait experimentally. “I’m so weak that Vlad always cares for me. But I  also don’t want to bother him. Please look at thiscouple with consideration, Your Highness.”

“Yeah, right. You… you were a loving couple!” Ingrid burst into clapping with stars in her eyes.

It was the bait Lily threw because she remembered that she was so excited about her love story in her tower. Again, it was as expected. Ingrid’s eyes, acting like a naughty prankster, instantly changed to those of a teenage girl.

In aristocratic families where arranged marriages were common, marriage with love was a fantasy floating around like an urban legend. Naturally, in aristocratic families, the term lover was usually used to refer to an affair.

“How did you two fall in love? Tell me in detail. As long as you tell me about it, you can go back and rest comfortably. When did you meet and start dating? Is this the story of falling in love like fate during a war? Hm?”

“I first met Vlad on our wedding day. Your Highness.”

“Then you mean the duke was secretly adoring you? How? He was born like that, but unexpectedly he is a man with a lot of romance in his body. It’s very surprising.”

Lily unraveled what had happened in the past. Ingrid screamed almost like a crow when she heard that she had been married for the third time.

“You thought he was an eighty-year-old man or a clumsy man,” she said. “That’s pretty outrageous. But… I really like it.”

Surprisingly, whether the compliment was sincere, Ingrid has been shooting odd glances at Lily after hearing the story of her third remarriage.

“How was the wedding? Wouldn’t it be great if you admired him that much? How many days did it last? Honeymoon? How happy the citizens must have been when the monster lord got his wife! Did you tour the lands?”

Lily stopped breathing. After all, the wedding… It was like an omission bar. She didn’t even know that she had to tour the territory. The men she had previously married were the lords of small lands. She didn’t have a lot of land enough to walk around, so she didn’t even know back then.

She couldn’t lie to the princess when she found out about it.

As she hesitated, Ingrid raised her eyes. A fire blazed in her gray eyes.

“…Did you not do it?”

Lily and Ivan made eye contact. Ivan avoided her gaze as if he had nothing to say.
