Inevitably Trapped With The Amorous Husband

"Dandan, I won't be able to come to the company today again. Please tell the team to make a written report as usual. I think a video call is still not appropriate." Xiulan said for the nth time. It has been ten days since Hongqi was admitted to the hospital. She has been eating, sleeping, and working in this room for the past few days.

This was like that time when she saved him. The only difference was, the Hongqi at that time was a pervert, conscious, and has a lot of time pestering her. While the Hongqi lying on that bed now is a vegetable and currently in a long coma.

Xiulan heavily sighed. She pulls the chair beside Hongqi's bed and sat, "Yeah. I don't know how long I'll be here. I'll try to visit the office next week but only a short visit. I'm too afraid to leave my husband for a long time.." she continues her call with Secretary Danan.

As soon as the call ended, Xiulan c.a.r.e.s.ses her husband's smooth face, "I must take care of your face. You might get angry at me that I didn't take care of your handsome face." she jokingly mutters.

"When will you wake up? I haven't even told you 'I love you' yet." Xiulan's eyes tear up. "You need to wake up. Your new boy group is doing well and they already won some weekly awards. I don't know if that is important but their fans are happy and proud. I bet you are proud as well."

Hongqi only lays there without any response.

Xiulan bitterly smiles and wipes her tears. 

According to the doctors, it may take a while for him to wake up. He is now declared comatose due to the symptoms he's currently experiencing. 

When Xiulan received the news that he's officially a vegetable [1], all she could think of was to become a full-time housewife for him. Who will take care of him? He will definitely become sad. She couldn't leave him be alone in this place all by himself. 

Secretary Yang Bo and her father-in-law are currently very busy with Hongqi's businesses. Nurses are not always available and it'll be inappropriate for a stranger to take care of him twenty-four hours a day. 

She already abandoned her tasks in her own company for him. She can do more for him. "Just wake up, you silly pervert." She can only helplessly tear up.

Every day, she specifically cries every 4 am for him so that she will not cry for the rest of the day, especially if there are visitors. Due to this, she gained "A cold wife" title from the visitors. They find her strange that they never saw her cry over her husband's status.

Little did they know, she already cried buckets even before the sun appears in the morning.

Due to Xiulan's consistent investigation, the police managed to quickly arrest the motorcycle driver. Unfortunately during his interrogation, he uses Pentobarbital [2] as his suicide weapon. Because of his sudden death, the police are back to square one in searching for the culprit. It is now declared that the case is an attempt to murder either Xing Hongqi or another victim involved in that traffic collision.

Since her husband can't respond, the issue regarding Zhao Lingyu is currently delayed. She's still in the country; basking in her father's mansion and wealth. A luxurious house-arrest indeed. She couldn't leave the place but still, she can stay in the country.

Xiulan doesn't know the details on why Zhao Lingyu can still stay in the country when according to her case, she's banned and restricted entry. She can only guess that Lingyu's father might have asked for a pardon while the client, her husband, that filed the case is still unresponsive and they are taking advantage of it.

According to Secretary Yang Bo, Xiulan can give an opinion to Zhao Lingyu's case. But out of respect towards the past of her husband and Zhao Lingyu, Xiulan declined and positively said, "Yang Bo, I know my husband will wake up and take care of this case. He will wake up soon. Wait for his answer, okay? Just make sure that woman never enters this building, hmm?"

Although Xiulan's trying her best to be positive, each day is another battle for her. She's here protecting her husband against the perpetrators of the collision, being cautious over Zhao Lingyu's suspicious plans against their relationship, his business foes, and those who are against her husband.

"Hongqi, once you wake up, you better treat me well or I'll divorce you." Xiulan whispers. Still, no response from her bed-ridden husband.

She sighed deeply. The doctor said to always talk to the patient and it may trigger the patient to wake up. Xiulan had an idea to talk to him with threatening words like divorce or break-up. These are the words that her husband dreads and avoids. She humorously thought it may wake him up.

More days have passed and still no response. The doctor kept assuring her that his last reports were doing well and he might wake up soon, but still, no guarantee when.

Since she's stuck inside the hospital room for so long, she decides to visit her company this afternoon. She'll only be away for two hours.

After visiting the office, she quickly went back to the hospital. While waiting inside the elevator, an old woman approached her. The woman looks like an old madame, with her jade bejeweled accessories, she's obviously from a rich family.

"My dear, you are so pretty. What's with the long face?" the old woman concernedly asked.

Xiulan can only courteously smile at the stranger.

"Ah. Sorry, we're in a hospital. Hospitals never had a good meaning, eh?" the old woman apologized. "I don't know who you are visiting here. But I want you to know, everything will be okay. Pretty girls like us will suffer for a while but sooner, at some point, we can get out of this hell." the strange old woman added.

"Hell?" Xiulan thought.

"I can feel this is a start of your life's calvary[3]." the old woman accused. "I will pray for you, my dear." the old woman said before going out of the elevator on the 14th floor. 

Xiulan felt all her hair rise. The fourteenth floor is like the thirteenth floor without the skipping part. The goosebumps on her skin felt hauntingly. She's not sure if she encountered a ghost or a kind-hearted overseer.
