32. The Reunion

The dazzling light was emitted from the stone, illuminating the dark valley. Frost closed his eyes, but he saw clearly in his mind how the restriction disappeared in the light.

Frost was shocked. He did not expect this to happen. His blood broke the restriction and that should be something to be happy about, but he was a little uneasy.

The little fox’s sweetheart was exactly him. This was not the first time that someone had fallen in love with him. Although he had no problem with people having a crush on him, he normally wouldn’t accept their love or respond to it.

But this time it was different. When he knew that the little fox’s sweetheart was him, Frost put his right hand upon his chest. It had been… a long time since he felt this way.

The moment the restriction was lifted, a jade slip slowly descended from the glaring golden light and landed beside Larry.

Larry felt exhausted. It was as if he had been in tug of war for hours. If the other party didn’t let go, he would have lost.

Something powerful was pulling at him. His body didn’t seem to belong to him anymore, but his soul had always been Larry. He was familiar with the suction. He had experienced it when the old bad patriarch tried to suck his soul out with the jade slips.

Larry couldn’t move, but his brain could still work. Had his soul been sucked away by the jade slip this time, his body would definitely die, and he wouldn’t have the chance to see the Black Guard and the White Guard again. And if he didn’t get to see them, he would definitely be dead.

Fortunately, just as Larry was about to give up, the jade slip stopped absorbing his soul.

In his daze, Larry opened his eyes and saw a tall, skinny figure.

“Ack~” Hearing that he could only speak the foxes’ language, Larry wanted to pretend to be dead and never talked again.

……

The old patriarch in the vast hall smashed a table made of wood.

Was it true that the higher one’s position was, the more likely he would pound the desk when something went wrong?

And he would smash it when it was really bad?

“Bastards! How dare you ruin my plan!” The Patriarch was furious and his eyes were red with rage.

This time, he didn’t send anyone else. Apart from himself, he didn’t trust anyone.

“Meow meow!(Fox, you’re not dead, are you?)” The moment the restriction was lifted, Murk rushed towards the fox at a speed faster than anyone else. Larry closed his eyes, and he had decided to never open them. Doctor Frost was here so he must know the true identity of him. It was so embarrassing and Larry didn’t know how to face him.

However, Murk kept shaking his body. Larry felt like he was going to be shaken to death by Murk if he didn’t open his eyes.

“Ack~(Stop shaking me or I’ll kill myself…)”Larry could only let out a weak snort to show that he was still alive. ‘Dr. Frost, come and comfort me! Take me into your arms!!’

However, Frost didn’t do what the little fox expected him to do. Instead, he stood where he was as he watched Mirrocle and June check Larry’s body.

Frost frowned. He was once again confused, because he couldn’t understand what Murk was saying again. Just now the language that Murk spoke had rich meanings, but now it was just a simple meow.

He had got so many questions that he wanted to ask the little fox, but he couldn’t communicate with him now that he couldn’t understand animals’ languages again.

“Doctor Frost, why are you still standing there? Come and see how Larry is doing.” Mirrocle was unaware of what Frost was thinking about. He was happy when he saw that Larry was alive, so he smiled so brightly that his white teeth could be seen in the dark valley.

Frost quickly walked forward to check on Larry’s condition. “His limps were broken and he needs an operation right now. However, it has been a while since he was injured. I’m afraid…” Frost didn’t continue. Though he couldn’t understand what the little fox said, the little fox could understand what he said.

Frost felt sorry for what Larry had gone through. Larry might become disabled. Frost was afraid that Larry could not accept it.

He didn’t finish the sentence, but everyone present knew what he meant. Since humans couldn’t save her Senior Brother, June decided to take him with her.

Frost touched Larry’s body to check if there were any other injured parts besides his limps.

As he did that, he felt something cool under Larry’s body. It felt quite smooth.

“What is this?” Frost took the thing out. It was a jade in the shape of a slip.

Seeing that jade, June looked extremely surprised. She had seen this jade slip once. Every descendant of the Astraea Foxclan had to put their names on the list of the jade slip when they were adults.

And that was why June was so surprised. The jade slip was of great importance. It was the most precious treasure of the Astraea Foxclan. Why was it here? Though shockingly surprised, June took the jade slip from Frost without showing any of her emotions.

She must do some research on it. “It looks familiar. Is it…? Ouch!”

Before she could finish her sentence, she was hit by a powerful palm from the back. June fell forward, and the surge of the spiritual energy within her body made her want to spit blood, but she suppressed it.

Mirrocle pulled June up and let her stay behind him. Frost held Larry in his arms. The three of them, a cat, and a fox looked at the man standing opposite to them with vigilance. Mirrocle was holding an Evil Suppression Talisman in his hand. He’d used up all the Thunder Talismans, and this one was the most powerful talisman he had now.

The man turned around, and the jade slip in his hand glowed under the moonlight.

“Master!” June, who was adjusting her breathing behind Mirrocle, cried out in surprise.

The old man’s face was revealed under the moonlight. Hearing how June addressed the man, Mirrocle got both panicked and scared.

June’s master was Larry’s master as well, and Larry’s master was the Patriarch of the Astraea Foxclan!!!

What to do now? What to do now? The man he was facing was the leader of the Astraea Foxclan!!!

“Traitor! How dare you come back!” The Patriarch said that to June. He had been told what June had done, but to the Patriarch, he’d never wanted June to be his apprentice in the first place. He didn’t go find her because he had been too busy recently.

June looked pale. She had always been calm but now she found it hard to remain calm.

“Master, what did I do wrong? Please just tell me. These days, I’ve been hunted down by various people, and there were even people who claimed that you ordered them to kill me, but I don’t believe them! I don’t believe that my Master would be so ruthless!” Her eyes were filled with tears as she looked at the Patriarch and showed her helplessness and grievance.

It was a pity that they were both foxes. And the Patriarch saw through her acting pretty easily.

“Humph, you’ve got the nerve to be in touch with someone related to Albizia of the Evelynn Foxclan, so just stop acting!” When the Patriarch grabbed the jade slip, he saw Frost.

He couldn’t be wrong. Although this young man smelled so much like a human, it had been nearly a thousand years since this man and the Evelynn Foxclan saw each other as enemies.

No one could tell the smell of an Evelynn Fox better than him, especially the smell of the Foremother of the Evelynn Foxclan!
