Legend Of The Little Boy

Chapter 4 - When a Little Boy goes to Town

As Aeron and Alistair walked along the dirt road there was no peace for Alistair with the barrage of questions that were flying his way.

"What's the Nestor Empire like? How is being a prince? Was it fun? Was it hard being a prince?"

Alistair just smiled at the barrage of questions though he marked down the questions for answering later. As they continued walking they reached a town that had a guard at the gate. They entered the line and slowly waited for their turn while Aeron wondered at the size of the stone castle walls and Giant wooden gate.

Alistair seeing him look at the castle like that said "Our towns are much better and they are artistically crafted as well as strong a level 300 could easily crush this place. The immortal realms towns would need you to be at least stage 50 or a level 1000 just to hurt it."

Aeron just nodded then stopped after a second.

"What do you mean by level?" Alistair just scoffed until he realized that Aeron was being serious.

"How do you not know about the system it gives every soul a tutorial when they open it." Aeron shook his head and asked how do I open it. Just say status open with the intention to open the system.

"But Dad says not to trust the system as it can lie."

"You're dad's not here and besides the system never lies."

"Are you sure?"

"Definitely" he responded, "after all it even helps you gain strength."

"But aren't you supposed to meditate how does it do that?"

"No one knows but people suspect it is from the realm or your enemies if you kill them."

"Does everyone have a system?

"Yes but most just don't use it that often. Perhaps every other week they might allocate something to their stats and use it to surprise their enemies.

"Why don't they just start strong?"

At this point, they reached the front of the line and the guard started the standard procedure search.

"Pull up your status so I can see if you have a red name." He demanded. They pulled it up and Aeron saw something pop up that asked him to take the tutorial now or later he clicked later and then looked at his stats.

Aeron clicked yes and opened talents: open? Below that was: All elements (excluding Fire and Lightning): perfect grade, Fire and Lightning: Ancient. (Too many to put into words. Who are your parents?)

There was also a skill tab that said (locked by parent figure until further notice).

Aeron looked at it an was wondering what the affinity and skill tab meant but he snapped out of his trance when the guard seemed to ask something as a prompt appeared asking him whether he wished to show the guard his name. He agreed and the guard nodded in approval as he asked for the entrance fee of a silver coin. Aeron felt that there was something wrong as he didn't know where to get money when Alistair handed over a silver coin and the guard opened the gate.

"Welcome to the Willowleaf kingdom."

Why is it called that? Well, the founder of the Kingdom had it as his last name. This was a fact Aeron had discovered in his studies, although the way the kingdom was named was the same for most places.

Aeron looked at the street full of merchants yelling about their wares and how they were the best. People filled the street and looked at everything while trying to decide what to buy and whether they should. An aroma of food wafted over from a nearby bakery and Smoke flew from chimneys and a sound of blacksmithing reverberated from the corners of the street. In the dining, he could make out places that had stone gambling and if someone refused to pay the owners would get people who stood behind them to help. After helping the men got paid and went back to standing in their spot. In the corners of the street, you could see a shady deal or two but everyone seemed to ignore it as if it was common.

Alistair looked at his interest and frowned that it was not directed at him but quickly hid it from his face.

"What is so interesting about the street?"

"Well, it's new and interesting, after all, I haven't seen it things like this before." He explained."

"It's not special at all, and how is this new for you? I know you just left home but you have been out before right."

"Well um, I haven't really gone put that often and it was only in uhh a village?"

"Why are you saying it like it's a question? Wait you've never been out before to a city!"

Though they were making quite a bit of noise everyone on the street ignored them and continued looking around. At some points people looked at them for a second whistled and then turned around though Aeron could catch "in the future" and "looker."

"He turned to Alistair and said why are they calling us lookers? We weren't looking at them were we?"

Alistair just laughed and asked if he ever read a dictionary. To this Aeron nodded and asked, "What does that have to do with lookers?"

"How old was that dictionary you read?"

"I don't know. Why?"

"Well, looker started being used around two hundred years ago and quickly caught on but the older dictionaries don't have it."

"That makes sense Dad said that the dictionary was old."

"Dad this and Dad that why do you talk about him so much. What about your mother?" Alistair then proceeded to cover his mouth as it was probably a touchy subject.

"What's a mom I looked for it because Dad mentioned it once but he took it out of the dictionary and said that it would be sad for me.

Alistair at this nearly went ballistic seeing how he'd have to deal with this but quickly calmed himself down.

"Well, it's not really my place to tell you what a Mother is you should ask your father when you next see him. If he says no you should say that it won't sadden you and you're grown up enough to know. Don't tell him I said that though." Don't wanna get on my future father in laws nerves. His thoughts were interrupted by Aeron who felt that he should let his dad tell himself in his own time.

"Are you sure I should do that? I mean he probably didn't tell me so I wouldn't get hurt right?"

Alistair was about to respond when a little girl showed up saying "I'll guide you around the city for two silvers. Please hire me I really need the money." And so their tour of the city began.
