Legend Of The Little Boy

Chapter 8 - No Longer a Little Boy

After they many easy battles with monsters and bandits who showed up and blocked their path they made it to the capital. They fought and while walking Aeron decided to ask some questions about magic. This led to them spending the rest of the time learning as Alistair had never really thought magic before. As they grew bored of this learning process well mainly of the bandits they decided to move faster.

After they arrived they heard of a demon wave led by the Demon Lord. Naturally, they decided to take part in this. They arrived at the guild and used their cards to check in for extra benefits. This was not something stated in getting the card but could be figured out and during so was now told to be something that many did. As they reached the area where the demons were the Demon lord came out.

They looked him in the eyes and asked

"Why do you choose to fight others?"

The Demon Lord replied with "We are forced to for our land is being invaded by others. We need to take land so that we have excess land that we can afford to lose."

This seemed slightly unreasonable if you were on the demons' side but this unreasonableness was magnified greatly on the invaded's side. They listened and decided to spend more years with the Demons in order to cultivate a better relationship with them. Of course, to start learning from them and integrate themselves they had to make a contract to try to vanquish the people trying to harm them.

They gradually grew and learned more as well as had some breakthrough in their cultivation. They were now 25 and 26 and had learned much from the demons. The demons had now as well grown quite attached to them and Alistair used this as a way to make them know that the Nestor empire was a good place in case they ascended. Aeron also taught that they could form pacts and be peaceful to develop better. This had resulted in the demons becoming slightly grateful to the young pair.

They left on a happy note and the pair as in accordance with their agreement went to try and vanquish the people driving the demons out. They reached the area and found nothing but dark. Aeron quickly took Alistair to his guardian Wilson as he had a bad feeling.

They told him what they saw.

He calmly replied that it was fine.

The next year they told him it had come closer. Eventually after five more years of learning from him and the darkness strangely seeming to pull

"The strange darkness that we checked on made it feel like it was pulling on me as if asking me to come closer.

What is that Dad? Aeron asked once more.

Wilson suddenly turned pale.

"It couldn't be. Why would it appear here? No no, not here!"

He breathed deeply as he calmed himself and color returned to his face.

"That would be the void. If it's here it means it's coming and feeding off this world. This isn't good. Unlike the demons that-"

"Wait we're you monitoring us!

"Aeron this isn't the time for that!

Aeron calmed himself down.

"What if we made a contract with the void?"

"You can't make a contract with the void. Some have tried and they never return. There was one who did come back but she was broken. Defeated."

She managed to get rid of the void attacking but she was never the same. They had to lock her up. Before she was fully gone they asked her a question.

"What happens?"

She only responded with several words.

"It isn't worth it! They ruin you!"

She never made a coherent sentence again.

"It may just sound like a horror story but it was a true story. She was one of the strongest mages and she couldn't survive it. Her husband wound up rampaging in and killing both her and him. They only had two children that were given away when she was disappeared. Only one has been located."

Suddenly Wilson goes silent as his body shakes in pain and falls over.

The shaking stops after many-scared questions.

Wilson breathes and begins to talk again.

"I made a deal with the owner of the void. It will spread slower for the rest of time but my body will slowly be taken. It will help us now and those in the future. This probably wouldn't be possible normally but I have something he wants."

Aeron eyes start to become wet as Wilson gently strokes his back comfortingly and Alistair stands aside awkwardly.

"It's okay kid I got another ten years under my belt at least."

Aeron and Alistair began to learn with raised vigor more so Aeron then Alistair. Aeron began leaning other professions as well as anything that might help him save Wilson. Wilson grew frailer day by day as Aeron learned faster and faster. Alistair had already reached his maximum learning speed a while ago and slowly couldn't compete with Aeron anymore.

Aeron never gave up hope until the day came when the frail body stopped moving. This time Alistair tried to comfort him but Aeron, bitter and resentful knocked away his hand. He turned and ran towards the void. Alistair getting an inkling of what was happening started to panic and chase after him. Shouting for him not to do it. Luckily his cultivation was higher 9therwise with all the formations Aeron was using he would have never caught up in time. But he was still too late.

Aaron had already made the contract and was signing it. Alistair reached out using his mana but the contract was complete. As the wisp of mana went into something ethereal his body clicked onto the ground and started to vaporize.

Alistair started to cry

"Not him too! Why? Why must you do this to me?"

Suddenly something seemed to snap in him.

"Not again!" He snarled as something seemed to come back to him.

He continued crying for quite a while longer eventually just kneeling as what seemed to be a shell of his past self.

Eventually, he came to terms with what happened and after using energy to sustain himself for so long felt a deep connection with it. And now even with that piece of mana if he tried he could feel it.

He felt a slight connection to something not of mana and looked up. He instinctively knew that it was a soul. HIS soul. And that was enough for him. He blasted off the planet to chase that soul. But be found his body to be an enc.u.mbrance so he dispatched it.

Meanwhile, with Aeron who was currently awakening.

"Where am I? I signed the contract that I can't look at and now I'm here?" He suddenly felt an Earthshattering pain fill his soul as something dinged.

"System is that you?" He felt idiotic as he realized that the system couldn't talk.

A chime filled the white room as something said

'Please wait we will get to you later. While you wait feel free to contemplate your existence.' *Ding*

At this Aeron was speeches.
