Mage Joan

Chapter 385: Fight

Joan and his party dismounted near the entrance of the town and led by Magni into the town.

There was only one gravel-paved street in the town, and few figures could not be seen. The wind blew through the dust and looked a bit deserted.

Magni stopped at the town entrance and looked around carefully, whispering to Joan: "The atmosphere is wrong here, I'm afraid there is trouble."

Joan looked around but couldn't see anything unusual.

"Dafeng Town, I have been here three times, and I have never seen such a bleak scene."

Magni took a deep breath and his face became more dignified.

"There is blood in the wind. There were people who died here not long ago, and there are more than one or two. Let's be careful!"

Joan listened to him saying that his nerves were tense, and moved forward with anxious mood.

"Hey! Foreigner, where did you call?"

There were shouts with a strong southern accent from the street.

A dark-skinned Assa man, sitting under the porch of the wooden house, holding a large glass of ale in his hand, looked at Joan drunkenly.

"Good morning, uncle!" Roger, who is the best at dealing with strangers, took off his hat and waved, and said to the man with a smile: "We are from Delin Town, looking for someone named Pickman Friend, do you know where he lives?"

"Pi, Pickman?!"

The man was taken aback. He threw away the glass in his hand, jumped up in a panic, turned into the house, and closed the door heavily, no matter how Roger called.

"Sure enough!" Magni's eyes flashed sharply, and he turned to the accompanying Assa hunter. "A group of three, dispersed to the town to inquire about the news. Joan, Dick, Roger, there is a tavern in front. Let’s go drink ale and ask about Mr. Pickman.”

Joan followed Magni out of the tavern, tied the horse and pushed the door in. A smell of alcohol mixed with sweat smelled, and he couldn't help sneezing twice.

The tavern was full of people, and Joan was upset by the noise, and patiently followed the Magni and Dindale brothers to the crowd and came to the bar.

A fat old man with thin hair and strong beard standing on the inside of the bar was wiping the glass stemware with a white rag. When he looked up, he saw Joan and a professional smile appeared on his face.

"Welcome to the shop, what do you want to drink?"

"Give us a glass of ale," Magni sat at the bar, tapping his fingers on the table, pretending to be casual.

"Old man, has my friend Mr. Pickman recently patronized your tavern?"

"Pickman..." The tavern's face changed slightly, and he smiled again, then replied lightly: "I haven't seen him for some days."

"Oh? So Mr. Pickman finally accepted my suggestion and decided to stop drinking?" Magni said nonchalantly.

"Well, I don't know..." The bar owner still maintained the mask-like smile, "But after all, Mr. Pickman seems to be late to stop drinking now, and besides alcohol, there are many more in this world. Other things... will also harm people's health."

Magni heard his out-of-string sound, took out two gold coins and put them on the bar, and raised his toast to the pub owner.

"Excuse me, tell me a little more about my friend Pickman. I might need it later when I visit him."

The bar owner glanced behind Magni, then waved the rag and quickly swept away the two gold coins, lowering his voice and saying:

"Mr. Pickman is a well-known monopoly in this town. In fact, he has played the role of mayor for all these years."

"Of course you also know that Mr. Pickman made a fortune from the grain trade and has a close relationship with the Yalfheim military. Although he is not very good-tempered, he occasionally acts overbearingly, but overall he looks after us poor folks ."

"Pickman's grain store has always provided affordable flour to all families in the town. If anyone can't open the pot, go to Mr. Pickman for help and always get some relief food... Unfortunately, such a good day has already been Never go back!"

"Why do you say that?" Magni asked.

"Ah, this has to start two weeks ago."

The pub owner watched the surroundings with vigilance and took a step towards Magni.

"A group of jackal gangsters ran from the south of Broken Tooth Valley to our town and broke into Mr. Pickman's house while the night fell, brutally killing the whole Pickman's family, setting fire to the mansion, and occupying the Pickman's house. The mill and the barn..."

"Since then, this group of gangsters have done things in the town, and they have tripled the price of flour. Now people in the town hate jackals, but no one dares to pick up their heads and fight against the gangsters."

"Whoever dares to show a little disrespect to the jackal gangsters will immediately suffer **** killings, even the bodies will be eaten by the hyenas raised by the gangsters..."

The pub owner suddenly stopped and bowed his head to pretend to wipe the bar.

Joan heard the clutter of footsteps behind him, and looking back, it turned out that three half-drunken Jackals walked with a big swing, and all the guests who were blocking the road were rudely pushed away by them.

"Hello! You guys have faces, sneaky looks like spies, come with us!"

The jackal, headed by Jackals, had his hands on his hips and looked at Joan's purse in his arms.

"Go shit! Dog head mongrel!"

Magni jumped up suddenly and threw a punch with anger, hitting the jackal with a heavy blow, his nose suddenly cracked and blood spattered.

The screams pressed down on the hustle and bustle in the tavern, and everyone's eyes were gathered towards the conflict zone. Every face was full of shock, and immediately the excitement of looking forward to a good show was revealed.

The next play did not disappoint the audience. Dick saw Magni move and rushed towards the stunned Jackal without thinking, kicking on the opponent's stomach and flying out to smash the table and chairs.

"How dare you do it..."

The third jackal saw the two companions being knocked down, holding the knife handle in fright.

Before he could pull out his saber, Roger had poured a full glass of ale on his face.

The jackal screamed and wiped his face in a hurry.

Joan took the opportunity to grab the bottle and hit him hard in the back of the head.

With a bang, the glass shattered, and the jackal's head broke and bleed, and howled and bowed his head.

Roger grabbed his shoulders with both hands, lifted his knees, and hit his face hard.

The jackal snorted, as if he had his bones removed, and he collapsed to the ground and passed out.

The jackal who was kicked by Dick struggling to get up and saw that his companions had fallen to the ground and turned his head out of the taver.

His intimidation came from far outside the door: "You humans who should be cursed, wait for me!"
