MicroTech: Academy Of Idiots

Chapter 67 - Disclose Whatever You Know

Disclose Whatever You Know

Lui slowly got off the bed and started trying to walk with a little support. Whoever spent time in the hospital rarely knew what was happening in the outside world. The police officers don't need any permission, so the senior officer was here.

"You're named Lui?" the chubby-cheeked officer questioned as he sat on the chair beside the Lui's bed. He scrutinized the boy from head to toe as if trying to observe and perceive something unusual.

"Indeed! May I know who are you?" Lui asked in return.

"I'm someone here to warn you…" the official muttered deliberately pausing for a moment to study Lui's face and perceive a likely reaction.

Lui promptly sat back down on the bed, "Warn? About what?" he inquired speechless as he wondered if this chubby man was also one of his enemies.

He also wondered how easily he got access to his room and how confidently he was sitting speaking to him.

The chubby-cheeked officer, as if reading through his mind, uttered, "relax, I'm not your enemy. I'm here to warn you that all those who had been hiding their motives for years are now operational; hence, they will come looking for you soon. Perhaps you shouldn't have created a big scene…" the officer trailed off as he spoke. None of his sayings was yet to explain his identity to the boy.

"I don't get what you're here for?" Lui inquired. He slightly understood what the official was talking about, but he chose to feign ignorance.

He has faced Tian, and he didn't know how many were involved in this crime. Perhaps this chubby-cheeked officer was also one of them. He looked him from head to toe in one swift glance, the officer clearly felt awkward.

"Ahem," the officer cleared his throat. "I'm from the investigation branch and a senior officer," he was forced by Lui's glance to introduce himself properly before the boy sizes him up with another suspicious glance.

"We're investigating about the abandoned district, and the mishap that happened there years ago. My junior tells me that you came from the abandoned district? Do you know anything about the incident, for instance, can you give us some clues to steer our investigation in the right track?" he questioned Lui with a grim tone.

"I was a little kid, and my father forced me to run away from there. I know nothing else." That was the truth. He knew nothing more, but, he could ask Tian.

"Do you suspect anyone?" the officer probed further.

"No. No one comes to mind," Lui uttered quickly.

He wasn't supposed to give out information he was uncertain about.

"You're hiding something when I know you already know who it is that's chasing you and why you're in such a state?" the officer declared as he shook his head.

He disliked those who don't cooperate with their answers and end up hurting more people.

"Do you know how colossal the damage done? Do you know the perpetrators are yet to be caught? Do you forget how miserably you were forced to leave and witness the deaths along the way?" the officer questioned him furiously.

From the officer's tone, he seemed honest. Lui thought to himself whether to believe the officer or not.

Once he uttered the name of who he suspected, there could be mixed reactions. He could be cornered by this officer that who knows perhaps the criminal sent the officer to silence him. If he was sincere, then Lui thought to himself to ask the officer for proof or some concrete form of evidence.

"You can find all the answers to your questions in the abandoned district. But if you delay any further than you already have then perhaps not. There are hidden reserves of precious metal which is the root of all evils," Lui muttered while trying hard to maintain his tone and composure.

It was because Tian and his partners will soon be in the wind after they finish all the resources. They might not leave any clues behind. Then it would be a case of the officers or investigators assigned to the case as chasing the air.

"Are you sure, boy?" the officer widened his eyes in surprise after listening to Lui's words that all these were for precious resources.

"I'm sure, and I know I'm under threat, that's why my Academy provided me personal security," Lui uttered. He wanted to pity these officers, but how come they never bothered to visit the abandoned district? He was sure it was for fear of death, nonsense.

"If you want, I can leave some of the officers for your security because your safety is precious now," the chubby officer said as he stood up. He was going to gather some men and equipment and visit the abandoned district.

Though it would trigger a bigger conspiracy, the time had come for the truths to unfold.

He kept eyes on his men during the conversation. As soon as he got up, he hurriedly handcuffed them.

He was shuffling through all the previous files they had on the case.

With certainty, he suspected a few officers were guilty of dishonestly removing some concrete evidences after getting substantial bribes that would have helped their investigations.

If this went on, he would never be able to solve this case, and there would never be justice for those innocents who lost their lives.

Tian had personally come to kill the last survivor. He cannot take the risk of handing over the task to someone else. He saw the tight security and shook his head. For how long did they think they could keep Lui safe?

He remained in his black car and ordered his assistant to gather more information about Lui's friends. If his enemies cannot go near him, then what about friends? He would buy his friends over and let them complete the task, but the question was which one of them will be the lucky guy? The matter at hand necessarily needed critical observation.

He dispersed his agents and asked them to collect all the information they could amass about Lui's friends.

And also for them to find out which of Lui's friends were hardwired for betrayal.

He wasn't worried about the cost, just that the one who was hired should complete the task no matter the circ.u.mstance and no questions asked.

All the available information reached him, and he started to deliberate two names. If they thought solely about their own interests, then they could sell their friendship too, Tian thought to himself.

"Sir, they refused straight away," the assistant came back and told Tian.

"But one among the others is ready to accept the offer, if it's fine by you, I will call him right away," the assistant informed him. He was efficient at his job, and he did not return empty-handed.
