362 Don't Steal If You Can't Run

Dave wanted to go to the beach just like he said that night but somehow, he ended up going to a bunch of different places instead.

Emma didn't like the idea of them going to the beach in Unique City for obvious reasons, and because none of them wanted to leave the city just for a day, she suggested something else.

First, they went to the amusement park and did a lot of fun things together, then they went to the zoo and then the museum and other different places.

She said to go somewhere and have fun but this felt more like a tour around the city to Dave, he found it enjoyable though.

His recent performance for Unique FC had caused a spike in his popularity especially in Unique City and that meant that close to seventy percent of the people living in Unique City knew who he was and that meant that he was going to get crowded in most of the places that he was going to go.

However, he had a simple solution to that problem and all he needed was just two items, a hoodie and dark glasses.

There were some instances where he had to take them off and that was only when he was alone with Emma in certain places, once they were back in the public, he would put them back on and they were doing quite well in concealing his identity.

It would have been easy for all those people to spot Emma beside him and read the situation but most of them despite knowing who she was didn't exactly know what she looked like, it would be easy to find that out because she was a news reporter.

Of course, there were those who were able to put the pieces together as soon as they spotted her and fortunately for the two, they were chill fans who didn't even attempt to make a fuss about it, I guess it's understandable since smart people are always calm and reasonable.

Their lost stop for the day was the movie theatre where they went to see a movie that Emma had already bought the tickets for beforehand.

By the time they were done with that and made their way outside, everywhere was already dark which meant that their daily tour was over.

"You sure like dragging me around and you made good use of that habit today," Dave said as he walked down the street alongside her.

"Hey, don't act like you didn't enjoy yourself, and saying that I was dragging you around is a blown out-of-proportion exaggeration." She said before turning her gaze to him.

"Yeah, you're right, I enjoyed myself a lot today especially since I got to spend it with you, but what in the world is a blown-out-of-proportion exaggeration?"

"Do you want to know?" She asked with a little giggle.

The two suddenly stopped under one of the street lights on the street now.

"No, I know they mean the same thing." The goalkeeper said.

"Yeah, but don't you want to know what they mean for you?" She asked before placing her hand on his chest.

"For me?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, then, tell me."

"I will, but first you have to remove these." She said before she slowly pulled down his hood and was about to remove the glasses when someone suddenly zoomed past them grabbing her bag which was freely hanging on her shoulder in the process.

<That's some speed>

'Shit, I didn't know this kind of stuff still existed in this city.'

He didn't even give his wife the time to react to her bag getting stolen as he quickly zoomed off in pursuit of the thief.

"Dave, wait!"

"Just wait for me there!"

The thief was really fast when he stole the bag and that was the reason why Dave was quite surprised by how fast he was catching up to him.

The thief was running out of breath now but he couldn't stop because Dave was right behind him, so out of desperation, he ran into the dark alley on the left hoping to lose him there.

Dave cranked up his speed at that moment as he immediately caught up to him and pushed him causing him to crash into the large trashcan by the side.

As soon as the thief was down, he quickly picked himself up and sent a punch at the goalkeeper's face.

He didn't even try to avoid it maybe because it was too fast for him to do that but when the punch did hit his face, he didn't flinch and sent a punch of his own into the Thief's face forcing him to crash back to the floor.

Before saying anything to him, he quickly bent down and picked up his wife's bag.

"You shouldn't go around robbing people when you know you can't run that fast."

"How are you so fast? No one has been able to catch up to me before." The Thief said still breathing heavily.

"Oh, well, you shouldn't have attempted to steal my wife's bag today, maybe your business would still be safe. Either way today is the day you pay for your wrongdoings." The goalkeeper said before dipping his hand into his pocket.

<Dave, quick knock him out, he has intentions of hurting you>

Just as Catherine said that, the culprit picked up some kind of rod from the floor but before he could use it, Dave quickly sent a kick on his head.

That kick was enough to get him on the floor and it didn't look like he was getting up again.

'Thanks, Catherine.' He said subconsciously before letting out a sigh of relief.

<It's my job>

Just to make sure he was still alive, he bent down beside him and placed his hand on his neck to check his pulse before he brought out his phone from his pocket and placed it against his ear.

______ _______

Emma was still waiting anxiously for her husband in the spot where he left her, there was a bench by the side but her anxiety wouldn't let her sit down.

She could have called someone while she was waiting there but that was impossible because her phone was in her bag.

While she was still waiting there anxiously there, she spotted someone approaching her from the dark side and she was scared at first because there weren't too many people around until the person entered within the range of the street light.

"Dave." She said with a voice of relief as she quickly made her way to him and wrapped her arms around him. "Oh, thank goodness, you're safe."

"Hmph, I got your bag back." He said with a smile on his face.

After hearing him say that, she pulled back her face from his body to look at his face.

"You really…."

She wasn't able to finish what she wanted to say as she suddenly spotted red liquid coming out from both of his nostrils.

"Why is your nose bleeding?" She said with a panicky voice.

"It is?" Dave said before wiping the spot with his fingers to see that he was bleeding. "Oh."

'When did that happen.'

<Definitely that punch>

'Oh.'

"Wait, don't use your hand." She said before she opened her bag while he was still holding it and brought out a white handkerchief which she used to clean the blood properly. "You shouldn't have gone after him, the only important thing in this bag is my phone."

"Yeah, but still people shouldn't take things that aren't theirs and get away with it, don't worry, he was only able to hit me once."

"And where is he now?"

"The police should be picking him up by now." He replied.

"Oh, okay." She said before placing her head on his chest. "I sure didn't expect our day to end this way."

"Nobody expects bad things, let's go home."

_____ _____

After that day, it was back to work for Emma, and as for Dave, he went back to training for their match against Lazio on the sixth of September.

The fifth of September came by pretty fast, the day the squad was going to make their trip to Rome, Italy.

They were set to move out by 2:00 PM and the time now being 1:30 PM, all the players listed in the squad for tomorrow's match were already at the airport.

Most players were making their way into the plane but Dave was still standing outside with Mateo, Minino, and Adolf as the four seemed to be discussing something.

"Facing an Italian club for the first time is sure going to be fun," Minino said before stretching both of his hands.

"Yeah, but it could be dreadful depending on how we approach the match," Adolf said.

"Oh, come on Adolf, make a choice, are you trying to motivate us or demoralize us?" Minino questioned.

"No, I'm not trying to demoralize anyone, I'm just putting the thought of a possibility across." The captain said.

"That can't be a possibility because we're going to beat them, we have Dave, there's no way they'll be able to do much with him in between the sticks," Mateo said.

"Um….I can't really do much if the defense isn't working to be honest, all it takes to really win a match is a good team and fortunately, we have just that."
