My Goalkeeping System

461 Three Points Behind

Unique FC players had relieved looks on their faces as the referee blew his whistle for the third time to finally bring the match to an end.

It has been a very tough night for them and this could have ended just like their first meeting this season, but they were able to drag out a draw thanks to their fervent goalkeeper.

A goalkeeper saving his team by scoring the equalizer was quite unheard of in this modern age of football but it happened today at the Mec Dynamo stadium.

"Unique FC makes it out of this one with a draw, their unbeaten run is still moving but their winning streak ended today," Jim commented.

"It felt quite odd seeing them struggle in this match after how well they've handled their previous matches but I guess it was expected given what happened when they faced Dynamo FC for the first time this season." Steve expressed. "Maybe Norman just doesn't have a good enough tactic to properly take care of Dynamo FC."

Everyone was busy hugging Dave after the game came to an end, but they were being careful not to touch his head which was pretty tough because a couple of them ended up touching his head.

Dynamo FC players got on pretty well with Unique FC players because there were quite a lot of shirt swaps.

The shirt Dave was putting on now was Victor's, the goalkeeper just had to get it after failing to stop that strike from him.

He tried to get Dave to tell him how he was able to do something like that and Dave replied that he practiced shots way more often than he is required to, which is absolutely true but that wasn't exactly everything.

This draw meant that Dynamo FC were still four points behind them because both teams had to take just a point each from the match and then throw the remaining one away.

It wasn't really a bad result for Unique FC if they were just focused on Dynamo FC catching up to them but that wasn't what they were focusing on, primarily at least.

Their main focus was getting past Supreme United to top the table but the outcome of this match meant that they just dropped two points which extended them from a point behind Supreme United to now three points.

But still, in whatever way you looked at it, this was better than losing the match so they were going to take it and try to not slip off with the rest of their matches.

Merino was announced as the man of the match at the end of the game which was pretty well deserved.

The winger was everywhere in this match, too bad his teammates weren't able to do much with all his setups.

'I was sort of expecting an attribute point.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as he slowly made his way down the tunnel.

<Don't be silly, a quest like that is easy with your level of abilities and you just showed it>

'Well, you're not completely wrong but it isn't just about that, a lot could have gone wrong starting from the point Ferran sent the ball flying in, and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it.'

<Well, when you put it like that, you do have a point, but still, the system only takes your abilities into account when giving out rewards for quests so my point still stands>

'Yeah, yeah, I know.'

<Anyway, here's your very short post-match rewards>

[Post-match rewards ]

[ Zero crucial saves ]

[ Goals scored(1): +150 exp ]

[ Match rating: 7.0 ]

'Very short indeed but decent, I'll take it.'

The locker room was pretty calm even though Minino was there.

The midfielder was just on his phone and it didn't look like he was planning to start anything today or he was still mad at himself for carelessly giving the ball away for that second goal against them.

Mateo was still out there because he got held up for an interview so when Dave got to the bench, he pulled out his phone to check what was going on online and that was when he saw that he got a text message twenty minutes ago.

When he saw the sender, he was expecting a lovely message but after reading everything he got the opposite feeling.

'This doesn't look good, Catherine.'

<I can see, but that's your problem>

'I knew you were going to say that.'

_______ _______

The team had to start making their way back to Unique City soon, and since Dynamo was quite a distance away from their City they had to make the trip there by flight and that was how they were going home now.

That match was quite draining for the players, and although they were generally happy for not losing the game, they still wished they could have done more and won the match because they had the chances.

If the chances never came, then that would have been a different story.

Dave wasn't taking part in the self-pitying and wishful thinking, he was just glad that he was able to help his team get a draw when they were on the verge of losing a match and that was it, or maybe his mind was occupied by something else.

After getting to the stadium, everyone including Dave got in their car and began to head home, and while the goalkeeper was driving home, he had a couple of thoughts running through his mind.

'I'm sure I'm going to be okay.'

<Yeah, you keep telling yourself that>

It didn't take long for him to get home, and as soon as he parked his car however he wanted, he made his way out of it and began to head to the door.

He had the keys and could have just opened the door but for some reason, he decided to knock.

He knocked thrice on the door and was about to do so again when the door was suddenly pulled open by Emma who was putting on red pajamas.

"Oh, it's you." She said with an indifferent tone to her voice before leaving the door open to make her way back to the couch.

"Well, this is some welcome," Dave muttered before he slowly made his way into the house and closed the door.

He stared at her from there for a while before he slowly made his way to her and dropped his backpack on the couch before sitting down beside her.

She seemed to be watching something so she just kept her gaze there and pretended she didn't notice him sitting down beside her.

"What are you watching?" He asked before slowly looking down at the lower part of her body."

He already saw it in the morning, but her stomach had gotten a bit bigger, her baby bump was finally starting to show.

There was no response from her after that question causing him to let out a sigh.

"I know I got you worried with what just happened over there, I'm sorry but I just had to do it or…."

"Or what?"

That question came with her quickly shooting a gaze at him.

"You were going to lose the game? Your health is more important than a football match, Dave."

"I know."

"No, you don't, if you knew you would have taken the doctor's advice and stayed home tonight but you had to make Mr. Norman put you in the squad so you can still have a chance in the game when you have not recovered." She expressed. "So that you…."

She wasn't able to finish what she was saying because Dave had to quickly press his lips against hers just to get her to shut up, he thought she was going to push him away but she didn't.

"I already said I was sorry." He said after pulling out from the kiss. "And if you want me to do anything to make up for it, I'll do it."

"Anything?" She muttered as the straight look on her face suddenly got replaced with a smile.

<You shouldn't have phrased that like that>
