My Goalkeeping System

481 The Right Quest

Dave got up pretty early the next morning and maybe that was as a result of using dream control that night.

He still had not been able to complete the one-second part of Catherine's challenge but that wasn't what he did last night.

He decided to do something a bit different in his dream last night, something that had nothing to do with training.

Walking down an endless empty street was the idea he came up with last night.

Catherine was confused as to why he wanted to do this, and for some reason, she couldn't get into his inner thoughts.

<You know you still haven't told me why you did what you did last night>

'Oh, that.' He replied subconsciously as he slowly got up from the bed.

He turned his gaze to the wall clock to see that the time was 5:15 AM before turning it to Emma who was still fast asleep on the bed with his pillow in her grasp.

'My Mother used to go on these early morning walks, she said it helped her to properly clear her mind before starting the day. I would always be awake whenever she walked past my room and just before she got downstairs I would be out of my room to ask her if I could come with her.

'She would always say yes with a smile on her face and then she would hold my hand as we both walked down the quiet street in the morning when the sun was yet to rise.'

<Oh>

'For some reason, that memory just kept on popping into my head last night. I couldn't sleep, that's why I had to turn on dream control and create that endless and quiet street.'

<Those memories kept popping into your head? Why didn't I see anything about it?>

'Huh? I have no idea.'

<And if you were thinking about your late mother, why didn't she appear in your dream world?>

'Well, I wasn't thinking about her that much, to be honest, I'm not supposed to be doing that anyway, but it did feel like she was there with me.'

<And none of these came through to me>

'Really?'

<I wouldn't ask you about it if it did>

'Hmm, I see so there are some things in my mind that you can't see.'

<Yeah, and we're just finding out about that now, your body seems to be changing in some sort of way that I just can't explain>

'Well, my mother used to tell me that I was special although I found it hard to believe that but I guess finding you and the system does make me special in a sense.'

After saying that, he slowly made his way to the wardrobe to change into his workout outfit before he picked up his boots and slowly made his way out of the room.

<How was I not able to hear or see those thoughts>

'You're still thinking about that huh? I think I might try to figure out how I did that and then use it to my advantage, you hear everything I think about and to be honest, that sort of creeps me out.'

<Well, it doesn't seem to be working for you now which means that something happened last night>

'Something special huh?'

He was sitting on the couch now to tie the lace for his boots.

'Well, my body did feel a little odd last night but I don't think it's anything serious but I really wish this was something I could do willingly. My thoughts being at your mercy all the time is creepy and annoying.'

<I already told you, I don't care about your dirty thoughts, your wife would be more worried about them than me>

Dave didn't reply to that and proceeded to make his way out of the house.

'Let's continue this conversation later, it's time for my morning laps.'

He raised both of his hands to stretch them before jumping a couple of times.

"And off I go." He muttered before quickly zooming off.

He was able to complete thirty laps around the house before he made his way to the gym to pick up one of the balls there.

"And now let's play some ball." He said before he threw the ball up and began to juggle it as he made his way to the pitch.

The walk to the pitch wasn't long, and as soon as he got there, he quickly brought the ball down and trapped it under his foot.

'Hmm, Catherine, why don't you give me an idea for a fun training activity this morning?'

<Okay, and this training activity should include shooting right?>

'Yeah.' He replied.

<Okay, why don't you head inside and grab a marker?>

'A marker, okay.'

The goalkeeper quickly made his way inside and it didn't take long before he rushed out with a marker.

'Okay, so what am I going to be doing with the marker?'

<Head over to one of the goalposts>

The goalkeeper did as she said and quickly made his way to one of the goalposts.

At this point, he was starting to get the idea of what she was trying to get him to do but he still wanted to hear what she had to say.

'Okay, I'm here.'

<Alright, now draw a small circle on any spot on the crossbar>

'Oh, I see.' He said subconsciously as he drew a circle a little to the right of the crossbar. 'Now I'm going to try and hit this exact spot from the other side.'

<It could be from the center of the pitch but yeah>

'No, I want to do it from the other side.'

He quickly rushed to the ball which was sitting on the sidelines and quickly sent it rolling to the other goalpost.

The ball rolled straight into the goalpost, and once he got to it, he rolled it to the edge of the six-yard box.

'This is a great idea for accuracy training, Cat, a bit evil I might say because I can barely see that circle from here.'

<You were the one that asked for something fun so instead of just trying to hit anywhere on the crossbar, try to hit that one spot on the crossbar, this will greatly improve your accuracy>

'Yeah, that's why I called it a great idea.' He replied as he slowly took three steps backward.

After that, he quickly closed up on the ball and was just about to kick it when something popped up in front of him.

[ +1 attribute point ]

'Huh? Do my eyes deceive me? Is that an attribute point?'

<If that's what you're seeing then yes>

'Looks like I'm going to need more balls.'

Just after saying that, he quickly rushed to the gym and just a few minutes later, he returned with all the ball there which was about twenty.

He carefully lined up fifteen balls with enough space to avoid any intrusion while kicking them, and now that he was done with that, he turned his gaze to the target and took a deep breath.

"I won't let this attribute point pass me by."
