Lin Ranyi seldom wandered off at Monday meetings, but for some reason she was very absent-minded today. Probably because she dreamed of that person last night. She woke up after the dream in the midnight and couldn’t fall back to sleep anymore. After all, it had been a whole year of her life without the shadow of that bastard, from traces in life to spiritual connections, she swept him out completely. She was really clean this time. This year, she was so relaxed that she was going to float. Yesterday, she promised a tall, rich and handsome man for a dinner date. Her life was going to sail away to her dream life*. She lived very, very well without that bastard.
*诗和远方——poetry and faraway fields

Remembering the bastard ex-boyfriend who broke into her dream without warning last night, she wrinkled her eyebrows faintly. He was really unwelcomed. In the dream, he leaned against the bay window on the balcony with two long legs overlapping to play games. When he saw her pushing the door and entering, he smiled and narrowed a pair of narrow fox eyes and said lazily, “Baby, I miss you so much…”

Baby my ass, miss me the fuck.

Lin Ranyi frowned and clenched her fist unknowingly. She just agreed to a date with the third young master of Xu’s pharmaceutical industry yesterday. Then at night, she dreamed of that misfortune bearer despicable bastard*. Could it be because of her guilty conscience? What was wrong with her? It had been a year since they broke up. She didn’t know where the bastard died**. Couldn’t she have an date and take a step forward to the vast sky? She didn’t have any guilty conscience.
*杀千刀——killing by a thousand knives——commonly used by wives to curse their husbands in deep resentments
**Not literally. She’s saying she didn’t know where he’d gone to, but with hatred

When Lin Ranyi’s thoughts finally uplifted a little, the door to the conference room was suddenly pushed open. A commotion rang out in the large conference room, followed by whispers. Lin Ranyi looked at the door, and a familiar stranger came into view.

Lin Ranyi’s heart suddenly missed a beat, what kind of day was today, was it a day where everything you think of would come? Well, now she wanted the Anywhere Door*. Open the door, step in, then close it, go anywhere, as long as she didn’t have to face the ex who was slowly coming towards her.
*Doraemon’s door

But the Anywhere Door didn’t appear. Lin Ranyi watched as this bastard Li Songyang approached step by step, his eyes sweeping across her almost stunned face, and then settled down on an empty chair next to her.

The chief editor of the program department, Mr. Du, had been talking when Li Songyang’s sudden appearance disrupted him. He opened his mouth and froze for a while before suddenly announcing, “Everyone, welcome Li Songyang back to the team, I hope we can continue working together happily.”

After speaking, the chief editor took the lead and applauded twice. Li Songyang rose and slightly waved a greeting to the participants of each column group. The conference room rang a sparse applause. He came back too suddenly, most of the people present were still in the state of struggling to digest this fact, so the applause was very lacking.

When Li Songyang sat back down, Lin Ranyi faintly smelled a familiar masculine scent. He smoked occasionally but had no cigarette addiction. He didn’t use men’s perfume, but there was always a faint, clear smell on his body, like a pine forest. It took her a year to forget it.

Lin Ranyi turned her head to the other side with some resentment, so as to shield herself from the sudden and familiar scent, which was mixed with too many past events that she didn’t want to think of any more.

At this time, Lin Ranyi’s phone suddenly vibrated. She opened the screen saver then saw, a stranger sent her a WeChat message.

She glanced at the sender, the name was “Millennium Ghost Baby.”

What the hell…

Lin Ranyi slandered in her head. There seemed to be no one with this name in her friends list.

One more glance at the content of the WeChat… Truly a prank:

“Help me…”

Lin Ranyi sneered and snapped her phone onto her notepad.

She also wanted to shout for help, help me, who can get this ex out of my sight.

The phone vibrated again, and Lin Ranyi grabbed it with some annoyance and looked at it again, it was the psycho Millennium Ghost Baby again.

“Ranran, Help me.”

Lin Ranyi suddenly got goose bumps. The person who ever called her Ranran, except for her parents and a few female friends, was only this asshole ex currently sitting next to her.

She hadn’t come to snap her phone on the table yet, but a message jumped in again.

“Don’t put down your phone, please talk to me, I want to ask for your help about something very important. I can only reach you, and only you can see my WeChat.”

“Who are you?”

Lin Ranyi replied grumpily.

The other side replied in seconds, “I’m Li Songyang.”

Sitting next to the true self of the lowly creature, Lin Ranyi almost bursted out laughing. This ghost baby wanted to impersonate Li Songyang, truly too good at chosing the time.

All Lin Ranyi felt was amusement facing this person’s clumsy scamming tactics. So with the intention of teasing and relieving her low mood, she replied again: “Liar, Li Songyang himself is sitting next to me.”

The reply came in seconds: “I’m really Li Songyang, I didn’t lie to you.”

Lin Ranyi admired this strong insistence on holding on to lies. She quickly glanced at the real body of her ex-boyfriend sitting beside her. He seemed to feel her secretly glancing eyes, Lin Ranyi was a little embarrassed and quickly retracted her gaze.

From her glance, she saw that Li Songyang had his two hands idly clutching his shoulders, obviously not holding his phone.

She looked down and replied to Millennium Ghost Baby.

“Who the hell are you? Is it fun to tease people?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “I’m not teasing you, I’m Li Songyang, I’m Li Songyang a week in the future, I need your help, please you must believe me, help me, only you can help me.”

Lin Ranyi snorted lightly and snapped her phone on the table.

She didn’t know how this person named Millennium Ghost Baby became her WeChat friend, she shouldn’t have such people around her who love to make such boring jokes when they had nothing to do, but obviously, this person seemed to know some of her personal information. Her ex-boyfriend, and how her ex-boyfriend called her in private, this person knew it all. Such blatant prank made her feel very uncomfortable.

Lin Ranyi ignored her phone softly buzzing with vibrations. That person seemed to have sent a series of messages. Lin Ranyi raised her head and watched Mr. Du’s mouth opening and closing, but her ears didn’t hear a word.

The phone kept buzzing persistently.

Li Songyang felt that she seemed a little different, and his eyes wandered from her phone constantly ringing with WeChat alerts, to Lin Ranyi’s slightly sullen face.

Feeling his gaze, Lin Ranyi blushed slightly, grabbed the phone, and buried her head down to look.

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Hey, why do you stop talking.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Hey hey, it’s really me, how do I make you believe me?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Don’t go away, don’t ignore your phone, please talk to me properly, you’ll definitely believe it, I’m really Li Songyang.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Okay, let’s talk about a more private topic.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “You live at No. 16, Building 9, Qingyuanli Community, No. 38, Liuming Lane.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “The house is mortgaged, and the loan has been repaid for three years.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Your undergraduate is in S City Jiaotong University media department, recommended for graduate research. You and a school grass senior from the same major promised to each other forever in secret*. And, that school grass senior is me.”
*私定终身——or marry in secret, without parents’ permissions

Millennium Ghost Baby: “You had a crush on me for three years. You’re a sincere girl, you just kept lurking with your secret love. So much that I only realized that we’re in love with each other after I wandered into graduate school.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Girl, let’s talk. It’s very dark here, I only have this palm-sized mobile phone screen. My only pastime is chatting on WeChat, I can’t even play games, and you’re my only WeChat friend. If you ignore me, I won’t even hit a wall.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “We first kissed at the back window of your dormitory on the night of New Year’s Day. We both drank, your drinking was really bad. I wasn’t actually drunk from the three glasses, I just used it to strengthen my courage.”

Lin Ranyi kept watching message after message and her palm oozed a layer of cold sweat.

Millennium Ghost Baby: “Do I need to talk about the first night? Three times, you cried at the end.”

“Who the hell are you?”

Lin Rangyi typed with a slight shiver.

All about her extremely private past. Her first reaction to these messages was that she had met a pervert. And then she felt that she had met a blackmailer, but she got nothing, what was there to blackmail.

She couldn’t help but glance at Li Songyang beside her, who had been lazily leaning back in his chair listening to Chief Editor Du, with both hands idly resting on the table, not holding his cell phone at all.

Another layer of cold sweat broke out on Lin Ranyi’s hands.

“What do you want?”

She asked.

Millennium Ghost Baby: “I told you, I’m Li Songyang from a week in the future, and due to a coincidence, from the time and space I’m in now, I can contact you, please believe me.”

Lin Ran Yi: “What the hell do you want?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “It seems you still don’t believe me.”

Lin Rangyi: “You want me to believe that I’m seeing a ghost?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “…”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “What time is it?”

Lin Rangyi: “9:30 am.”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “You’re in the conference room, right? Monday’s regular meeting?”

Lin Ranyi: “You’re following me?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “That’s me sitting next to you, right…”

Lin Ranyi turned her head slightly to see if there were any suspicious people in the meeting room, and Li Songyang sitting by her side saw that her eyebrows were locked and her expression was flickering. He suddenly turned sideways and asked softly in her ear, “What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”

Lin Ranyi sat up straighter and glared at him, subconsciously blocking her phone screen.

Li Songyang received the fierce glare from her big eyes, not only did he not feel deterred, but a familiar smile floated from the corners of his mouth.

Lin Ranyi gazed back to her phone screen, frowning, and continued to type.

Lin Ranyi: “Who the hell are you, prying into other people’s privacy is against the law, you know?”

Millennium Ghost Baby: “In a few minutes, Qin Can from the urban life column group in the front row will faint, low blood sugar, don’t worry.”

Lin Ranyi: “…”

She looked up and hurriedly searched for Qin Can’s back in the front row. She wore a smoky gray slim suit today, looking very professional and very competent, and her back was full of energy.

Lin Ranyi: “You’re in this conference room, right? Which colleague are you, don’t be so bored, okay?”

Lin Ranyi had just sent the message, then there was a small commotion in the front row. Qin Can, who had been sitting still, suddenly slipped from the chair to the ground. Her face was visibly as white as paper, everyone chaotically tried to help and picked her up.

The cold hairs on Lin Ranyi’s back stood up as Millennium Ghost Baby continued, “Chief Editor Du’s cup will fall soon.”

Lin Ranyi jerked her head up to look in front of her. Chief Editor Du was heading towards Qin Can with concern. As he walked, he accidentally stumbled on his foot, staggered a step forward, and danced around to maintain his body balance. Unfortunately, he hit the cup on the table. It rolled to the ground, spilling Tieguanyin on the floor.
