New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 15 - Ancestral region

After that little episode where Zhong Mei and her little council? Had convened on a partner for the younger generation.

Zhong Yi met the squad of the best soldiers the army could offer.

Turns out, it was Qi Long's squad. They had gathered quite a bit of meritorious accolades. Since last seeing them, the squad had visibly grown to accommodate 5 new members making them 16.

Zhong Yi and a squad of soldiers stood at the village entrance. Both sides of the village road were occupied by villagers with various facial expressions varying from worry to hope and admiration.

With one last look at the crowd and his little girl perched on General Cheng shoulders with Xiao Huang acting as his shadow dodging Zhong Yi's gazes, for now. Feng chen stood just behind the trio, respectfully nodding as his gaze met his majestys as if promising to complete his task to his absolute best.

Zhong Yi took a step outside the safety of the village, along with Qi Long's men. To go face the unknown, original homeowners hidden within the mountains.

Dashing through the large trees at an unhurried pace, the sound of unhidden steps echoed out within the ominously silent forest.

"Qi Long, I want your men to be alert at all times," said Yan Zhong Yi in a serious tone.

Qi Long had already told his men such things but he still accepted the demand. "Yes, your majesty."

Zhong Yi eyes happened to catch Qi Longs hands move in weird manner, then the soldiers swiftly changed their positions.

With a nod of approval, Zhong Yi was the first to emerge out of the ancient forest with others following closely behind.

Compared to the other mountains, the one that they had chosen to climb was the smallest but was also the steepest. Naturally, this wouldn't be a problem even with the extra baggage carried for these Ghouls.

They climbed the mountain within the shortest amount of time possible, Zhong Yi wanted to cover as much ground as possible but also new the importance of remaining vigilant in unfamiliar locations even if it was apart of their territory.

When they reached the top of the small mountain, they were able to see what was hidden the entire time.

A small world of its own was hidden inside the mountains. There were massive birds flying around in the sky, massive beasts walking through the massive jungle that spanned as far as the eyes could see. The trees had obviously grown for thousands of years, if not longer from how humongous they were Compared to how big everything else looked, Yan Zhong Yi and the soldiers looked like ants.

But he wasn't, he stood steadfast, with his head held straight and his short white hair swaying with the cool breeze. The aura of an emperor emanated from his figure drawing the gazes of the soldiers who respectfully bowed their heads.

What amazed Zhong YI the most, was the massive structure in the distance. From their position, they could see how it pierced the sky.

It was shaped like a pyramid and red in colour. The humongous birds that would accidently get to close were frozen in mid air and some mysterious force would make them explode and the blood would join the pyramid.

That structure created a sense of deja-vu in Zhong Yi. He was unsure of what it was that was familiar, but it was there and grated on his nerves on not knowing the answer.

This realm was obviously hidden from the outside world and for good reason. From the aura being projected by some of the beasts inside the forest, he caught readings of several 6th grade and 100 times that for 4th grade.

Even though he didn't know the strength of the outside world, he could make an educated guess from the information he has so far and determined that soon to be alfheim would be decimated

But who's to say that whatever traps them in won't lose effectiveness soon and the empire he sought to make would be obliterated along with everyone else, especially with how close the Sacred Ghoul village was to this place

'Thank Ghoul, that I decided to come here' thought Zhong Yi to himself. 'Now that I am here, I might as well let loose, Those monsters are looking delicious'

What they didn't know was. The moment they stepped foot inside the hidden region, every single movement they made was being tracked by a mysterious region.

They decided to set up camp there on a small mountain, Zhong Yi had a sneaking suspicion that it was one among many entrances to the hidden region.

The small camp would act as a base of operations for the small expedition team, simultaneously they would split up in search of clues on anything that could link to their hidden attacker. Nothing was known other than the fact they could hide from a Ghouls senses, exit the hidden region and release fireballs.

Zhong Yi was sitting down next to a soldier named Wu Lin, he had your typical white hair and red eyes but instead of keeping it short, Wu Lin opted to keep his hair longer leaving it into a ponytail. His height was a bit on the smaller side with him being only 6" but that made him more stick out compared to his comrades.

With his dual daggers strapped to his sides and clad in leather armour, he would be mistaken for an assassin anywhere.

"Your majesty, I heard General Cheng mutter to himself about not underestimating an enemy and mogesh people, what was it about?" asked Wu Lin to his majesty with a hint of nervousness.

"Very curious, aren't you?" questioned Zhong Yi, not expecting an answer.

Wu Lin looked his majesty dead in the eyes with passion burning in his eyes "Of course your majesty, knowledge is power,"

Zhong Yi was surprised by his answer, as much as he didn't want to admit, his soldiers were muscle heads. Most of them anyway.

The ones that weren't had higher ranks. Because of the small number of people in the army, some ranks cant even be used like the legionary.

But that was a thought for another time.

"During the reign of the first emperor Ghoul. We wanted to occupy a material world, that planet was wanted by all the other major races in the world but was always left alone.

That was because of the mogesh people. They were as tenacious and ferocious as they looked but those f.u.c.k.i.n.g cunning bastards were geniuses."

Even when he cursed them, the respect in voice could still be heard." At that time, we were at our best. The strongest empire and still getting stronger. We were invincible." The pride in his voice was easily conveyed to Wu Lin, whose attention was completely captured.

"Led by General Cheng, the slaughter maniac. Ancestor Ghoul and the heavenly court decided to make azareth ours. The amount of resources that we would be able to get would multiply our strength by the dozen.

As a show of strength, we would broadcast our intentions before striking. No matter how much they prepared they would still have no other choice than to fight us and lose.

Our arrogance and past experiences led us to believe that the world was already ours. By relying on strength, we could waltz in at any time and they would be happy to be occupied by us. But when the general returned, he had one less arm. 250 million soldiers less and nothing to show for it.

They were willing to take us out at the price of their own people, their own world." The other soldiers had stopped their Individual tasks and listened in on their majesty's narration.

We won, however, no one celebrated. We had sacrificed millions of soldiers for what.

We underestimated them, we let them stay close enough to see a weakness, to take advantage of that weakness and develop a weapon capable of causing our extinction because of that weakness.

If not for our timely conquest, who knows what they would've done with such a weapon."

Zhong Yi would've continued his narration, if not for the world announcement destroying every plan he made with Qi Long

[The disaster festival will begin in 2 hours]

What he didn't know was that he was only a player because at the time, he joined the heaven awaken world, the other players had just entered as well. Whether other influences were involved, Zhong Yi will never know until he has the strength.

[Our home, our ancestral region will be used to train those undeserving pests, we must kill each and everyone of them]

The other announcement didn't sound right.

He could hear the anger and killing intent in each word and that scared him.

It had emotion

Just that one fact brought chills down Zhong Yi's spine. There was so much theories that ran ramport in his head from that announcement.

Looking around him, The facial expression of the soldiers changed from their trained calmness to an uneasy frown. From the looks of Wu Lin's face, he was suspicious of it too.

No matter how Zhong Yi looked at it, the second announcement was directed to everyone inside the ancestral rea.

This could mean either the monster leaders were intelligent enough to understand if there are any, all the monsters inside this realm were smart enough to understand or…..

The last thought terrified Zhong Yi, 'No, it's impossible. There is absolutely no way such a heaven defying existence like that would be allowed to live unless they could hide from the heavens.'

*FWOOSH*

The sound of wind being pierced by projectiles was loud enough to be heard by everyone inside the small base. The soldiers were already vigilant from the announcement, so they all reacted accordingly.

Zhong Yi Extended his purple kagune to deflect the projectile. He was confident enough in the strength of kagune in general, let alone his evolved ones with twice the strength.

*Clang* *Thud* *Clang*

Numerous reverberations echoed out on the small hill from the expedition unit blocking, deflecting and dodging the projectiles.

They stopped soon after a soldier had deflected it back into the woods, luckily, striking whatever was throwing them.

*SCREECH*

The shockwaves from the awful shriek shook the trees and parted it slightly revealing a pitch black 20 metres tall arachnid with a tooth Cleaved into one of its many eyes for a split second, before they moved back to their original position blocking Yan Zhong Yi's view.

"Was that a s-s-spider?" One of the other soldiers caught a glimpse of the beast and was shaken visibly from its appearance.

'Arachnophobia?' Zhong Yi thought to himself as he wondered how this soldier managed to get into Qi Long's squad with such a fear. Speaking of Qi Long, he was directing the soldiers to clean up the base and collect the projectiles, which turned out to be sharpened bones, really really strong bones.

[Hmmmm ...You must be that little girl's father.]

That announcement ringed once more, making his blood run cold.
