New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 35 - 35-Clean up

The portal buzzed with light. The light was slightly more intense meaning more energy was being used to maintain the connection for the figures to get travel through. As the light dimmed, 2 silhouettes stood in front of them.

On the right was a cold looking, handsome man. He wore the silver armour of the soldiers. However, he carried his helmet at the hip, next to his sheathed silver grade sword. On his handsome face his brows were furrowed in worry,

Standing on 4 legs next to the handsome man, was a large beast. It was the same race as other beast in formation. Its large bulky form set it apart from its clansmen as well as the cunning and intelligence flickering across its eyes. But currently, it too was in a state of uneasiness.

"Hong, you sense it too right?" Asked the human-like figure with worry in his voice.

"Yeah, zero presences inside the city and thousands of presences outside with his majesty's scent mixed in with it." Replied General Hong with the uncertainty laced in his voice.

"We'll move to the walls and see what the situation is like, with the different squads and the amount of presences outside, we can at least upgrade the villages outside the advanced from the EXP the soldiers can collect from kills."

Nodding in agreement, both generals at the front, they went to the walls to see a scene of carnage.

The trampled and half-eaten corpses of a million humans along with the corpses of magic beasts littered the floor. Holes lay everywhere on the battlefield and a lake of blood formed in the middle of the battle field. More beasts walked around the battlefield chewing on the remains of the humans.

The gazes of the soldiers and Linthos turned worshipful as they knew the only person who could do this.

What they don't understand is why the humans left the city and ventured out to be killed. They were also aware of the rebellious influences in the city, so even if their king ordered the humans to leave, some will stay as an act of defiance.

They at least expected to the humans to be in disarray and their numbers few, but not the entire city.

Both Generals made eye contact and saw the agreement in each others eyes.

"Soldiers!! His majesty, did most of the heavy lifting and now as his soldiers, we will clean up this mess.

We will go down there, and we will kill these monsters. The villages that summoned you will benefit from each kill made here today, so SLAUGHTER EVERYTHING!"

The soldiers screamed in agreement.

General Hong wasn't one for long morale raising speeches and opted for the short, loud and ferocious. It always worked within his clan and saw no need to change it now. He released the mightiest roar he could muster shaking the ground.

The Linthos roared alongside their patriarch causing the ground to shake even more.

All the noise had attracted the attention of the beasts in the clearing outside the city as well as the ones in the forest. Soon, waves of monsters were charging at the city.

Seeing no more need for talking, General Cheng was the first to leap over the wall to land on the unstable mountain of both humans and beasts. The rest of the army followed after. The ghoul army split up into 5 parts. 4 125-man groups all went in different directions. Their objectives were to kill, kill some more and then keep on killing.

The reason for that is that other villages can level up as well. The summoned individuals are capable of getting exp from every kill they make. No matter the stage and strength of the kill, they will always earn 10 exp, So the summoned Ghouls were put in the same group and went off to collect exp.

It was beneficial to the Sacred Ghoul empire because their numbers are seriously low and raising the level of the villages meant more ghouls being summoned and in turn, more soldiers. More soldiers meant more villages, town and cities and the cycle repeats itself.

The Sacred Ghoul village on the other hand, can only get exp from the conquering of said village, town and cities.

The Linthos fighting on the battlefield were surprisingly ferocious. They entered like hammers and bulldozed their way through the beasts beginning to fear for their lives. Their instincts were ringing with danger, so they fought hard to get rid of this danger.

What they don't know is danger they sense, is the remnant energy from Al'minek's remnant energy inside their bodies. The beasts would fuel the energy inside them by gathering spirit energy for it to devour, and they would become puppets without a master. They would follow their original task with a passion once more and would never stop until they died.

One of the reasons why abyss demons were so feared is because even after something wasn't being controlled, the remnant energy from their racial ability could still force the puppet's body to carry on the mission even after the puppeteer's death. However, that only happened to weak-willed individuals. Those with stronger wills can fight for control of their body and force the rampart energy out of their bodies.

This fact was unknown to the Ghoul army and even if they knew, they wouldn't care because the death of these beasts would benefit the ghouls either way.

*4 hours later*

"Generals, the portal connection is stable. The salvage team are waiting for your order to come through." Reported a Ghoul scholar. The small amount of time with the humans scholars allowed them to master the short-range teleportation technology.

Night had fallen and the ghouls set up camp in the city, General Hong and General Cheng had made the city hall their base of operations after clearing the battlefield of any hostile elements.

Cheng Jian jun sent a request for more hands to help clear it faster. The pungent smell of blood and corpses needed to go because it was hard to concentrate with it being there, so the army dug up holes in the ground and burnt the corpses of the humans.

The beasts were getting taken apart for their claws, internal organs and beast cores anything else valuable on their bodies. It would be useful in the future, for when they make contact with the humans.

The blood was gathered into barrels and left inside the treasury. General Hong made the call because he felt that it would come in handy.

In the plaza on an elevated platform. The teleportation portal was set up there since the connection was originally there.

From the bluish, purplish light, ghouls were constantly making their way into the plaza. Since most of the men were either on border patrol or in the army, only women were left to help out.

Luckily, female Ghouls were just as strong as males so when the call for help was made, they volunteered to help.

General Cheng ordered for them to be paired up with a soldier. Even if they were just as strong, It has been ingrained into Ghouls minds that women are to be protected. Linthos pulled the carriages into the city carrying materials.

As another precaution, General Hong had the other Lintho soldiers roaming around the forest picking off any who escaped the battle and had their bodies dragged back.

They worked through the night till morning where materials were piled up in the treasury.

The heavy scent of burnt corpses and wood permeated the air, while everyone had re-entered the city from a tireless night of work, but they weren't done yet.
