Queena Ye held onto Wind Chen and refused to let him leave.

Sue Lee and her husband looked on from the side with nasty expressions on their faces. They had never seen their daughter stoop so low before.

After thinking about it, Sue Lee grit her teeth and said, “Queena, let him go. You don’t have to be like this.”

“Mum, you don’t understand. You really don’t.”

Queena Ye kept shaking her head. She had straightened out a lot of her thoughts at this moment.

She had married Wind Chen for two years, and they had spent every day together despite not sleeping in the same bed.

Even a pet owner would feel attached to a pet they kept for two years. What more a legal husband whom she had spent the last two years living with?

“Queena, you’re embarrassing us, do you know that?”

Sue Lee’s expression darkened.

Zander Ye’s expression was equally dark.

All the guests around them were whispering among themselves nonstop.

“Sue Lee, that’s enough!”

Just then, Old Master Ye suddenly shouted loudly.

“Dad, you…”

“You, shut up.” Old Master Ye glared at Sue Lee. “I was the one who wanted Wind and Queena to marry, and I did that for the good of Queena’s future. But after Wind moved into your family, how did you treat him?”

“But Wind Chen is a man, and he just cooks and cleans the house instead of finding a proper job. Even when we scold him or beat him, he doesn’t protest. I’ve never seen such a coward in my life. Then he got investment money for Queena’s company that she needs so much, but it’s all gone because he made that phone call,” mumbled Sue Lee.

“You terrible woman! How dare you bring this matter up! If not for you, would Wind have made that phone call?” Old Master Ye flew into a rage.

“As someone looking in from the outside, I’d like to give my objective opinion.”

Just then, a beautiful middle-aged lady in a long white dress spoke up.

Old Master Ye nodded. “Please go ahead.”

“I will just speak my mind then.” The beautiful lady spoke seriously, “From what we saw of Wind Chen earlier, it is clear that he is a very capable man. Without a doubt, a man like him would succeed anywhere he goes, and plenty of women would vie for him. So why was he willing to suffer like this by living with the Ye family?

“I think the reason for this is obvious. He loves Queena Ye. Because of love, he was willing to allow Sue Lee to insult him. He was willing to wash the dishes, cook, mop the floor, and even wash the toilet bowl. But nobody seemed to understand him despite all this.

“As for Sue Lee’s words and actions, honestly, I’m really very disgusted by them. It’s one thing to insult Wind Chen in her own house, but she actually tried to pair her already married daughter with Phil Loong at an event like this. In my opinion, Wind Chen was already very kind by simply slapping her once. That’s all I have to say.”

The beautiful lady took some time to finish speaking, but after hearing what she said, all the guests nodded in agreement.

Wind Chen looked in surprise at the beautiful lady. She had gotten it half right.

The other half she didn’t know about was how Wind Chen was grateful to Queena Ye for saving him back then.

Queena Ye felt like all her emotions were jammed up in her heart. Tears streamed down her face as she recalled countless memories of Wind Chen, and the images of how much Wind Chen had quietly suffered over the years appeared in her mind.

‘Does he really love me?’

That was the question that Queena Ye couldn’t help but ask herself. But was someone like her worthy of Wind Chen’s love?

Wind Chen took a deep breath. In any case, his journey with Queena Ye was probably really coming to an end now.

But just when Wind Chen was about to say something to end this whole thing, his phone suddenly rang.

Wind Chen glanced at his phone. It was Lola Chinn.

Queena Ye had noticed the name of the caller too. She suddenly realized that she had gotten rather nervous.

However, Wind Chen had already picked up the call.

“Miss Chinn, is anything the matter?” asked Wind Chen.

“Wind, where are you? I have an urgent matter at hand that really needs your help.” Lola Chinn sounded rather anxious.

“Tell me what happened first,” replied Wind Chen.

“My grandmother is at Chanyang Hospital, and her condition is critical. The doctors say that my grandma might…might…you know, anytime today. I was hoping you could come to see her. Otherwise, I’d regret it for the rest of my life. Could you help me out?”

“Sure. You don’t have to pick me up. I’ll look for you at the hospital.” Wind Chen hung up immediately.

“You’re going to save someone at the hospital?” asked Queena Ye.

“Uh-huh.” Wind Chen nodded.

“Can you not go around doing crazy things? If anything bad happens, the consequences will be too much for you to bear,” said Queena Ye anxiously.

Even though she admitted to despising Wind Chen in the past and was touched by the quiet contributions Wind Chen had made over the past two years, she still didn’t believe that Wind Chen possessed any medical skills or knowledge.

“You guys go ahead and enjoy the party. Grandpa, I’m really very sorry for making a mess with your birthday banquet. At the moment, someone’s life is on the line, and I’ve got to save her.”

Wind Chen bowed towards Old Master Ye.

“No worries. Run along now,” said Old Master Ye.

Wind Chen nodded and left quickly.

Queena Ye lowered her eyes. Her heart was a mess.

She guessed that this Lola Chinn who had just called was probably the same woman she had seen hugging Wind Chen the other day.

“Queena, the person who called Wind Chen was a woman, right? I’d bet this fellow just found some random excuse so that he could go out with another woman,” whispered Sue Lee.

“I would think so too. Wind Chen has been hiding his true abilities all this while, so he might be up to no good,” chimed in Penn Zen.

Queena Ye didn’t respond to them and remained silent.

Old Master Ye patted Queena Ye’s shoulder and said gently, “Don’t think about it too much. I can see that Wind really likes you. As long as you treat him well from now on, he won’t leave your side.”

Queena Ye’s heart trembled when she heard these words, and tears welled up in her pretty eyes. “Grandpa, I…”

“You don’t have to say anything. Thousand City’s withdrawal of their investment is probably going to give your company a hard time. Don’t blame Wind for it. All humans have a temper after all. Tell you what, I’ll lend you 20 million dollars first, and you think of a way to solve the other problems.”

“Grandpa, it’s fine if my company ends up collapsing. I’m more worried about the Loong family. After how Wind has humiliated Phil Loong, I’m sure Phil Loong is going to take revenge once he gets back home.”

Meanwhile, Wind Chen had rushed to Chanyang Hospital as quickly as possible. Lola Chinn was waiting for him at the entrance.

The moment he arrived, she ran over to receive him. “You’re finally here.”

Lola Chinn’s hair was untied, and she was in a long blue coat and black high heels. Her tall and curvy figure emanated an incredible charm. When she came close to Wind Chen, he could smell a faint fragrance that smelled really refreshing.

“Bring me to the ward. By the way, what illness is your grandmother suffering from?”

Wind Chen talked to Lola Chinn while walking into the hospital.

Lola Chinn walked quickly by his side and replied, “It’s mostly heart disease and asthma, but her situation is very bad now because her heart might stop anytime. Wind, I really, really hope that Grandma can live for a few more years. As long as you’re able to help me, I’m willing to do anything.”

“Take me to her ward.”

Moments later, Lola Chinn and Wind Chen walked into the ward.

The Chinn family, some doctors, and nurses were standing around inside the ward with grim expressions on their faces.

An old lady with white hair was lying on the bed. Her skin was still pinkish and didn’t look anything like a patient with a chronic illness who was on her deathbed. Then again, everyone knew that this might just be terminal lucidity.

“Doctor, is there really nothing else we can do?” asked a middle-aged man with a haggard look on his face.

“Mr. Chinn, I’m really sorry, but we’ve tried our best already. The patient will wake up in about half an hour. If there’s anything you want to say to her, please tell her once she wakes up,” a doctor in a white coat spoke in a low voice.

“Please move aside and let him try to save Grandma. He might be able to save her.”

Lola Chinn squeezed her way towards the bed with Wind Chen.

“Lola, what are you doing? That’s quite enough.”

“Lola Chinn, where is this youngster from? What do you mean by he might be able to save your grandma? Have you gone bonkers?”

“Lola, these are Grandma’s final moments, and all of us have a lot to tell her. Don’t waste time like this.”

“Lola, seriously, this young fellow looks like some random bum. If he can save Grandma, I’ll live stream myself eating poop!”
