Offering herself to return the favor was just a joke on Lola Chinn’s part, of course.

But making such a joke on such a quiet night made the atmosphere suddenly heat up quite a bit.

“I still don’t know your name. Mind if you tell me?”

Lola Chinn’s voice was like a warm ray of sunshine in spring that really touched one’s heart.

“My name is Wind Chen,” replied Wind Chen with a smile.

“Let me add you to my contact list. I’ll treat you to a meal someday to thank you properly.”

Lola Chinn took her phone out.

“Well, if a beauty is inviting me out, it will be an honor.”

Wind Chen took his phone out too.

Once they had exchanged numbers, Wind Chen decided to leave.

But just before he bid her farewell, Lola Chinn suddenly hugged Wind Chen for no reason.

The sudden embrace and the sweet fragrance in his arms bewildered Wind Chen.

“Don’t misunderstand,” whispered Lola Chinn, “I just really wanted to hug you. Earlier today, everyone thought that I was the one who caused Mr. Xu’s daughter’s condition to worsen. When everyone else was blaming and insulting me, you were the only one who spoke up for me. I was really, really touched.”

“I understand. I’ll accept this lovely hug from you then. See you next time.”

Wind Chen waved and walked away quickly.

Lola Chinn watched as Wind Chen gradually disappeared into the distance, and a charming smile slowly formed on her lips. Her curiosity towards Wind Chen also began to increase.

However, neither Lola Chinn nor Wind Chen, who had already long gone, discovered that Queena Ye was sitting in her white Mercedes-Benz just 30 meters away, and she had witnessed the entire thing.

Right now, Queena Ye’s expression was the frostiest it had ever been. Given that she could only see them but not hear them, she concluded that Wind Chen was having an affair with another woman. Also, that other woman’s looks weren’t any worse than hers.

This threw Queena Ye’s emotions into turmoil, and she felt terrible.

Even though she and Wind Chen had never consummated their marriage and didn’t share a deep relationship or anything like that, Queena Ye still felt that awful feeling of being betrayed by the one she loved and trusted.

“You douchebag! Just you wait.”

Queena Ye gnashed her teeth.

Wind Chen had no idea that any of this was happening. He had already reached Tiger Xu’s place.

Tiger Xu and his wife welcomed Wind Chen warmly and had lots of good food and wine on the table for him.

While eating, Lindsey climbed onto Wind Chen’s lap and pulled at Wind Chen’s ears for fun. Her laughter was as pleasant as the sound of silver bells tinkling, and she was so sweet and innocent.

“Lindsey, come down right now. Don’t be rude to Uncle Chen,” said her mother anxiously.

“I don’t wanna…”

Lindsey pouted.

“It’s alright. Children should be lively and playful like this.”

Wind Chen laughed and pinched Lindsey’s tiny nose gently.

“Uncle Chen is so nice!” Lindsey snuggled herself in Wind Chen’s arms and refused to get off.

Tiger Xu and his wife couldn’t do anything about that. She was their only daughter, so they doted on her dearly and gave her everything she wanted.

“Brother Chen, I…”

Ding dong…

The sudden sound of the doorbell interrupted Tiger Xu.

“I’ll open the door.”

Lindsey’s mother got up to open the door.

In no time, she brought a man and a woman to sit at the dining table as well.

The woman was slightly plump, and her outfit made it apparent that she came from a well-to-do family.

The man was in Taoist robes, kept long hair, and held a fly-whisk in his hand. He looked like one of those immortals described in ancient folklore.

“Tiger, Snow, let me introduce Master Zong to you. Master Ray Zong comes all the way from Mount Mao, and he is an expert in exorcism. I’ve specially come to your place and invited Master Zong along so that he can take a look at what’s wrong with Lindsey.”

The woman was full of smiles. Her name was Ainara Xu, and she was Tiger Xu’s older sister.

“Ainara, aren’t you being a little too…,” Tiger Xu spoke a little hesitantly, frowning.

Ainara Xu replied in a severe tone, “I talked to you about this a long time ago. Lindsey’s illness is no ordinary illness, and it seems like it involves the supernatural. We need an expert in this area to deal with it.”

“But, Ainara, we’ve already found a genius doctor to treat Lindsey, and he’s really good. It’s Brother Chen here, Wind Chen,” said Lindsey’s mother.

“Him?” Ainara Xu looked Wind Chen up and down, and couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Snow, are you serious? I don’t mean to be nasty or anything, but you can’t simply grab any human who claims to be a doctor because you’re desperate to heal your daughter. This young fellow is barely legal, and he claims to be a genius doctor? That’s got to be a joke, right?”

Tiger Xu’s expression darkened. “Ainara, please don’t be rude to Brother Chen.”

“Tiger, your wife’s not thinking straight, and your brain’s not working either?” huffed Ainara Xu.

“Well, since your opinions are divided, then I shall humbly take my leave.”

Ray Zong got up and looked like he was about to leave.

“No, no, don’t leave,” Ainara Xu quickly stopped Ray Zong from leaving. “Since you’re already here, then you can’t just leave like that. Don’t worry, as long as you can heal Lindsey and rid her of whatever evil is inside her body, we’ll definitely pay you the five million dollars we promised.”

“Five million dollars? Get rid of the evil inside her?” Tiger Xu’s breathing quickened.

Lindsey’s mother had a nasty look on her face as well, but she didn’t know what to say either.

Just then, Wind Chen said calmly, “It’s true that something evil has brought harm to Lindsey. There’s no harm in letting this priest take a look at her.”

“That’s the right way. You’re young, but you’ve got some sense.”

Ainara Xu was beaming from ear to ear.

“Fine, take a look at her then.”

Tiger Xu waved his hands.

After getting the go ahead from Tiger Xu, Ray Zong slowly walked over to Lindsey and pressed two fingers against the spot between her eyebrows. Then he started to chant some scriptures as a devout priest would.

A few moments later, the expression on Ray Zong’s face turned grim.

“Master Zong, how is she?” asked Ainara Xu anxiously.

“Her situation looks very bad. A vengeful spirit who hanged herself has latched onto this little girl, and it looks like she’s going to take over this little girl’s spirit. If the vengeful spirit is not destroyed soon, I’m afraid it will be difficult for this little girl to survive.”

Ray Zong’s expression was very serious.

Tiger Xu and his wife were stunned when they heard this at first, then fury soon rose from within their hearts.

What was this nonsense about a vengeful spirit possessing their daughter’s body?

But before the couple could say anything, Ainara Xu anxiously said, “Master Zong, then you’d better quickly perform an exorcism on the girl right now! We can negotiate the price!”

“I can heal the girl, but this would require a lot of internal energy from me. As for the price…” Ray Zong hesitated at this point.

“Money is no problem. The question is, are you really able to heal my Lindsey? Also, how can you prove that Lindsey is really possessed by this vengeful spirit?” asked Lindsey’s mother calmly.

“Eyes of ordinary people will not be able to see vengeful spirits. How do you expect me to prove that? Besides, your sister here is well aware of my capabilities.”

Ray Zong didn’t even flinch.

“Tiger, Snow, don’t you two want to save Lindsey at all? Apologize to Master Zong right now,” Ainara Xu chided the two of them.

Ray Zong stood up straight with a relaxed and confident look on his face.

Both Tiger Xu and his wife, Snow Wyan, looked upset. They didn’t think Lindsey was possessed by some vengeful spirit. That was ridiculous.

At this juncture, Wind Chen took a step forward and asked with a smile, “Master Zong, could I ask who your teacher in Mount Mao is?”

“My esteemed teacher’s name is Tariq Lin,” replied Ray Zong calmly.

“Is that so?”

Wind Chen started laughing.

“What are you laughing at?” Ray Zon narrowed his eyes. “Are you going to disregard my esteemed teacher as well?”

“Oh, no, no,” replied Wind Chen. “I happen to be acquainted with Master Lin, and Master Tariq Lin is indeed a fine man in both cultivation and character. But as far as I know, Master Lin only has one disciple, and his name is Nick Sun.”

Upon hearing these words, Ray Zong’s expression instantly changed.
