One Piece: Sea Devil

Chapter 2 - Gifts And Techniques

In the mountains, Alex was alone practicing some techniques.

On one side he ran back and forth and there seemed to be no apparent goal other than running back and forth.

That is until Alex jumped and in mid-air took another step and kicked when he suddenly went higher like he was kicking the ground.

"Hahahahah yess!!" Alex screamed out.

He was able to finally use one of the powers of Rokushiki, he put extra efforts on [Geppo] since he wanted to walk on air which is like flying.

But he was only a few steps in the air before he fell and couldn't stay up there anymore.

Alex sat down near a tree to calm his excitement down.

After all three of them drank at the overlook and made the promise, Alex told them stories about the One Piece world and Its great legends and all.

After that Alex came to a spot in the mountains as this place was not known to the others.

As Alex sat down he waved his hands in front of his face as suddenly a blue square display popped up in front of him, like a game HUD.

On it was:

-Starter Pack:

-Haki and Rokushiki Training Method.

1.) Enchantment (Locked)

a.) Random gift

2.) (Locked)

a.) Random gift

3.) (Locked)

a.) ?

b.) ?

This wasn't a system nor was it a wish he asked for, but he was more than happy to have it.

When he came to this world he didn't get any wishes, but Alex was thankful for even having a second life and didn't worry about getting a golden finger or anything.

And when he found out that he was in the world of One Piece, he was absolutely excited and the fact of not having wishes wasn't even in his mind.

He knew that if he trained he would be able to at some point use the powers of haki and maybe even the power of the 6.

But when he turned 5-years old, that same display popped up in front of his face.

He was startled and alarmed, but when he looked into it he saw the words on and was overexcited again.

He saw the starter pack and was grateful, he pressed on it and many chunk of information flowed into his mind about methods of training the powers of this world.

One example was the [Observation Haki], there were two ways of training these techniques and it was either the hard way or the soft way.

Alex decided on going the soft way for [Observation Haki] which was meditation, he would have to sit in place and close his eyes before using his other senses to scan out the area.

And for 3 and a half years, he has been meditating following the methods given to him, he knew that in his past life it wouldn't work at all, but in this world, the law seems to allow this power-up through meditation.

Other than that he did other training for the 6 powers, it was too much to do all of them so he only focused on 1 of the 6, which was [Geppo] otherwise known as [Moonwalk].

The way he trained [Moonwalk] was by kicking the ground at least 10 times in 1 second, after some success it would be 20 in 1 second and so on.

Alex thought this was stupid but he didn't complain about it, and at first, it was hard because kicking the ground was damn right hard and painful, and so he trained his legs to make it stronger before continuing.

He tried getting Viktor to meditate and learn [Observation Haki] but the idiot didn't like it, he also wasn't a patient person to be sitting around and all.

When Markus came in Alex told him about it and Markus trusting Alex did it, but Alex didn't know how far he is in the meditation, or if he has any progress.

After going through the information on his head, Alex dragged his eyes to the first thing on the list, which was [Enchantment].

Now Alex didn't know what this "gift" was, but if he looked through his memories then he thought that it might have something to do with giving items abilities.

He got this from the memories of his time with Skyrim, in Skyrim you could give a sword the ability to use fire or lightning among many others.

Or give armors certain protection, if this is that same kind of enchantment then it would be a great golden finger in this world, but that's if there are no negative effects.

On the bottom of it was "Random gift" and Alex didn't know what it was, but he was more than happy to have more gifts.

Other than that the others were locked, and he couldn't wait to unlock them, not knowing what they are and what they could be just made him full of anticipation.

"Alexander!! There you are."

A voice called out.

Alex looked to the side to find Addilyn with her long white hair jumping up and down as she ran to him.

In this secluded area in the mountains, only Alex and Addilyn knows about it.

"Addy, you're late." Alex said, though he didn't seem to mind.

"Sorry, I got held up at the market." She apologized.

"Nah don't worry about it." Alex said.

"You ready?" Alex asked.

"Hmm!" Addilyn nodded in determination.

"Alright, here put it on." Alex said throwing a cloth to her as she clumsily caught it.

She walked to the center of the area and wrapped the cloth around her head covering her eyes and sat in a meditation position.

"Good, now just clear that mind of yours and only focus on your surroundings, use your ears to listen to your environment and also feel the wind and such.

Breathe in and out calmly, listen to the birds chirp, the branched move and the ground vibrate." Alex said as he grabbed handfuls of small rocks and pebbles.

He walked to one point facing her before he let all the rocks fall around him, Alex sat down and grabbed a few rocks.

"Ready?" Alex asked.

Addilyn slowly nods.

Alex held a rock and slowly one by one threw them around where she is but not to hit her.

He was throwing it far from her, close to her while also throwing it hard and softly so Addilyn could get some senses in.

As time passed Addilyn became closer to Alex, but only as a brother and sister kind of relationship.

When she spent the days on the mountain cooking food for both Alex and Viktor, they became close and got to know each other greatly.

Addilyn wasn't bullied anymore, because when she does, both Alex and Viktor would go into the village and beat up groups of kids no matter the age.

One time Addilyn ran up the mountains crying and told the two about an angry man being mean to her, without listening to the full story both Alex and Viktor charged into the village and beat the man bloody.

A few more of these and nobody even dares to look at Addilyn funny.

And after Markus came in the picture the training became more frequent and all three were getting stronger through it.

Addilyn saw this and had a feeling of wanting to get strong too and not get left behind, and so she asked Alex if he could train her, but in secret.

Because she saw how pathetic both Markus and Viktor was when they started training and so she didn't wanna look that bad, the boys might not care about how they look being sweaty and looking ragged but she, a girl, was too shy and embarrassed to be seen like that.

And so she asked Alex to train her privately, she knew Alex would be nice to her and train her without judgment or whatnot.

Alex saw this but also thought of an easy way to train her, learning [Observation Haki] the soft way would be hood for her, he thought.

And for one year he would repeatedly do this, she did not complain one bit and trusted Alex fully.

But Alex didn't ask for her progress or change anything over the months, he was able to learn a fragment of basic [Observation Haki] through sitting down and sensing the areas.

He was helping her by telling her to sense the rocks he was throwing, and that if she could hear them being thrown than she should try to predict where they would fall to before they touch the ground.

Alex wasn't sure if it was working but if it wasn't then he thought that she should tell him by herself, if it is then that is perfect.

This was the first thing in his mind to teach them, because if worst comes to worst, they should at least be able to protect themselves and dodge some attacks.

He would train her senses by rock-throwing at first, then he would move on to walking around her, running, jumping, and others like punching the air or slashing about with his sword.

Anything to get her [Observation Haki] up, even if it's my a small amount, it would still be a large help.

They would do this for about 2 hours before Alex let her alone to her own meditation, and he would plant himself as well and start meditating.

...

When the night comes Alex, Viktor, and Markus would do some final training before hitting the hay as doing some workouts before sleep is beneficial.

At first, only Alex was doing this, but motivated by how Alex would always train hard and sweat crazily, both Viktor and Markus did the same.

Viktor was getting stronger with every training and perfecting his swordsmanship with every sword fights he and Alex would have.

Alex wasn't with it, and considering the fact that he will be captain of this crew he got more motivated and trained more, but he pursued speed more than strength, but strength wasn't that far below.

Most of the time Alex would train his endurance more than anything, an example of this would be by extending his hands out sideways and grab hold onto some weighted rocks and hold it for as long as he can until he couldn't feel his arms.

The other two didn't get the reason for it and so they didn't do it, but Alex didn't tell them to do this so they didn't.

Both of Viktor's and Markus' take on weapons got more heated to the point that Viktor wouldn't touch a pistol and Markus a sword.

And with an airhead like Viktor, he sometimes couldn't find good reasons or good comebacks for why a sword is more better, he would call Markus a moron.

It shouldn't really bother a person that much as the name-calling "moron" is not that much of a great taunt.

But Markus would get pissed off at this and yell back "it's Maron!!"

Markus' last name is Maron, and Viktor would use this as a way to say "moron" to piss him off.

....

Another year passed and the kids in the mountains improved greatly with their daily trainings.

Viktor who was the oldest was now 10-years old.

Alex 9-years old.

Both Markus and Addilyn are now 8-years old.

Over the year Alex trained his speed and agility to the point that he was on bar with the battle genius Viktor, his strength wasn't that far either.

He also reached a full step in [Observation Haki], he wasn't really sure how high up his level in haki he was since there isn't really a power scale in One Piece.

But over time he decided on making his own power levels through what he knows.

For [Observation Haki]:

* Beginner

* Adept

* Expert

* Master

Alex made the levels according to the levels he believed the character in One Piece had.

For example, Beginner is for those who just started using [Observation Haki].

Adept are for Luffy's level right after the 2-year time skip training.

Expert level is a little different, Alex thought that there are other ways you could use it, like how Katakuri was able to look a few seconds into the future and thought there were more ways to use it.

Master level is just a big question Mark for Alex since he doesn't know what the peak of [Observation Haki] is like.

Alex considers himself at the lowest of beginners in [Observation Haki].

Over the year Markus who was the other one that trained in [Observation Haki], and there doesn't seem to be much progress as Markus didn't say anything of it.

The most surprising thing was that Addilyn achieved it, she could now use [Observation Haki].

At least not completely but like how Alex was, she had half a step onto the lowest of the beginner stage.

And so when the time comes for him training her, he would move onto throwing small rocks at her.

And she could sense it come at her with the blindfold on, but she was too slow to move completely so Alex moved the training up to train her speed.

Only a year and a half and she achieved it, Alex was amazed that it was this easy to learn haki, even this little girl learned it, though only an amateur.

Markus on the other hand greatly improved on his hand to hand combat, and his aim with the pistols and rifles were sharpened as well.

Viktor the talented bastard was already stronger than most of the bandits that they went against 2 years ago.

He completely focused on speed and strength over the two years and nothing else, what frustrates him is that even after all that training he was still getting thrashed by Alex.

And Alex started improving his speed and strength to match Viktor's and was able to teach his speed in the year.

He was so angry that he literally tried to kill Alex in the small sword fights they had, but he still wasn't able to touch Alex.

This sparked a fire inside Viktor as he trained crazier than before, he thought he needs to get his speed up significantly, but he didn't bother to ask how Alex was able to always beat him.

Because if he knew then he would definitely try meditating, but it probably wouldn't work as his patience is almost non-existent.

Alex knew that if Viktor learned [Observation Haki], then the tables would turn and Viktor would be the one doing the thrashing.

But that is only in a swordfight, because Alex also improved in his swordsmanship and marksmanship.

Alex knew the strength Viktor would have when learning [Observation Haki] and he would teach him sooner or later, but for now, Alex was having too much fun thrashing Viktor.

Alex also put a level on swordsmanship:

* Novice Swordsman

* Rookie Swordsman

* Adept Swordsman

* Expert Swordsman

* Master Swordsman

* Grandmaster Swordsman

Again Alex knew swordsmanship expertise wasn't classified or categorized but he made this chart to motivate himself to reach new heights.

Novice and Rookie swordsmanship was at the lowest and are those that begun practicing the way of the sword until grasping onto sword skills.

Alex thought of the Adept level as Zoro when he was just beginning his journey with Luffy, being an Adept would be executing sword skills that you mastered through countless practice.

Expert and Master class have a close gap to each other, a good example was Zoro after the 2-year time skip, so far Zoro had only shown Expert level swordsmanship but Alex always thought Zoro was hiding Master level swordsmanship.

Last is Grandmaster, this level was something Alex thought of as the ones holding the title such as [The Worlds Strongest Swordsman] or [Sword God]. (Shimotsuki Ryuma)

But in the end, it was still a big question mark since he knew Jack shitt about anything.

For Alex, he believed himself to be at the level of adept since he could use [Observation Haki] and would be able to easily beat adept-Zoro in the beginning of his journey, but he still hasn't practiced any sword skills.

Viktor is also at the level of adept able to go toe-to-toe with adept-Zoro using strength and speed, but if it was skills than adept-Zoro would have thrashed Viktor as well as Alex.

Other than that they all improved greatly, Alex told the two to train extra hard starting last year since at the end of this year they would go fight the Mountain.

During their training, Abner would walk around seeing their series of training and thought why these kids need to be training so much.

But like many other times, he didn't say anything and just let them do their things, at some point also started guiding them with their marksmanship.

During this year's training, Abner suggested about fighting him, a 1v3.

The three accepted without hesitation, but in exchange for the weapons both Alex and Viktor used sheaths in substitution of a sword, Markus grabbed small rocks in exchange for a gun.

Alex also grabbed a few rocks and put it in his pockets to mimic his sword and gun style.

Not even 3 months in and the three already beat the old man Abner, it was good training for the three as they learned about teamwork greatly, and Abner got a fun workout from it as well.

At the current moment...

Alex was standing at the edge of the [Lookout] looking out into the sea, behind him was Viktor and Markus while up in the air Hermes was circling the air while screeching.

Time and time again Alex always looked out into the sea from that spot with great determination that he will go and explore every inch of this world before standing on top, and he won't let anything stop that.

But first, he has to conquer the troubles in this homeland of his, before sailing off.

With a smile, Alex turned around to the two behind him and asked.

"Ready?"

"Of course, I've been training like a madman for this." Viktor said with his psycho smile.

"You are a madman." Markus said looking at Viktor.

"Haha, right let's go." Alex said as he walked past between them while they followed.

Alex waved his hand at Hermes as the eagle swooped down perching on Alex's arms.

"Hey bud, I'm gonna need you to come with us today.

I need you to do some scouting and be my eyes showing us the paths to Mt. Beastland and find the mountain king." Alex said to Hermes.

*Scree*

Hermes screeched a few times at Alex.

"No, don't worry about that you won't fight him." Alex said to Hermes.

Hermes was saying to Alex that he would do it, but fighting the mountain king was out of the question for Hermes.

*Scree*

*Scree*

"He's doing it again." Markus said to Viktor looking at Alex.

"So what? He's crazy talking to birds, you just gotta get used to it." Viktor said lazily.

There were more than a few time they saw Alex having a convo with the bird as if it was a natural thing, yet no one can understand the bird at all.

Alex was able to feel Hermes' emotions, and when he feels his emotions as he screech, Alex's mind could almost translate the eagle's feelings into his own language.

The two became so close it was like Hermes was a little brother to Alex, and Hermes admired and loved Alex always following him around like a kid.

Alex also felt extremely attached to this goofy-ass child eagle.

"Hahaha well, off to Mt. Beastland we go!" Alex said as they set off to the mountain far into the other side of the island.

They would need to pass the middle mountain where the bandits reside, but Hermes will guide them on a path that doesn't meet any of the coward bandits.
